EDGE must be used on a laptop? Sorry, I am noob. blush.gif
The management of my current apartment doesn't allow us to install for another telephone port since the ready one is already used up. My housemate installed Streamyx in her room and she used it herself for FYP research, so I can't install another one Streamyx package. sad.gif
Thinking of another alternative ways, but it seems those alternatives only support laptops or wireless? I am using a dekstop pc and have no USB wifi.
I'm at MMU Malacca now, can enlighten me? I'm totally blur when it comes to broadband because I only know about Streamyx. rclxub.gif

Sorry for disturbing, if I can ask is there any limited download bandwidth policy on Digi EDGE?
I might consider terminating my Celcom which only allows 5GB download bandwidth that is absolutely too little especially with heavily injected graphics and flash websites on the Internet.

Appreciate if someone can help on this matter. smile.gif

Thanks. biggrin.gif rclxm9.gif
I will wait for Celcom to reply me in these 3 working days, can say 80% I'll be terminating it. biggrin.gif
I'll get RM 123 package that tied with 24 months contract with DiGi EDGE data line, Asus EeePC and Asus Modem. I'm on desktop now and need something portable for mobility, not need to be high spec and EeePC is just nice for me, though the HDD size is not big but I have portable HDD. icon_idea.gif
Luckily my sister signed up a supplementary credit card line for me, so I can use it for this package. biggrin.gif icon_idea.gif

Anybody that subscribes to this package? Can let me know if the modem comes with USB converter? smile.gif I'll be using it on my desktop, so with USB is more convenient. smile.gif

I read through this thread and it seems DiGi is quite stable right? biggrin.gif

Thanks, I'll subscribe soon. Sister gives a green light to this. rclxm9.gif

I can't afford to wait for DiGi to release 3G because I'm doing final year project now. smile.gif

I'm going to use it alone, so shouldn't be a problem right? How about BT? Does anyone try using EDGE for BT? smile.gif

If yes, care to tell me the speed? I'm fine if it is around 15kB or better still more than that. smile.gif I'm so going to apply this, hope no regret because I'll be on 24 months contract. sweat.gif

BT/emule/Xunlei b4(using phone can't BT too much, will drain the battery after 4 hours although while charging/downloading sweat.gif ), around 3-12KB.. my area cheras

IMO, if ur location is NS/Melaka(last ip 37) the slots will no as congested as Klang valley (last ip 36)

I'll be using USB modem. biggrin.gif

Good. I'm going to say hello to EDGE. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(GameSky @ May 12 2008, 10:19 AM)
On my exp on BT with EDGE, max speed you can get is ~24kbps...tho moderate speed is around 15-18kbps.

One thing for sure, no bandwidth cap and also bt block protocol or even emule block.

Nice.

Yes, limited bandwidth makes me hates Celcom a lot. shakehead.gif

Wonder why made you to subscribe to edge when for the same subscription amount will get you lightning fast speeds on 3G networks ?

I  can't bear 20 - 23KB/s waiting for web pages to load up unless i do not have any choice.

Not the money issue, some people want to subscribe to EDGE is because of the unlimited allowed download bandwidth.

For me speed for EDGE consider ok as u can see my post before... even surfing also ok as i already know EDGE speed and can live with it.. not like Sialcom and MAxsuck, u know their speed very fast but surfing like snails... consistent also make me terminate them as to much disconnect. I hope DIGI not like other. If was, I ll terminate and try others till find good ISP maybe P1 (WIMAX provider)..
*
I've seen your download speed up there, quite good. Know what I have never gotten such download speed when using Celcom even though when my line was not capped. sweat.gif
I will consider sign up one month of data line before deciding to go for DiGi EDGE 123 package or not. smile.gif

maybe low seeder as i downloading old file (very big file)
biggrin.gif

Nice ya. How do you compare it over Celcom? Of course Celcom is faster, but from other perspective? smile.gif
Then, can you run a speedtest when the line is congested? I wanna know how much it is when the traffic is jammed. laugh.gif
Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

DiGi EDGE here I come, but not so soon. I'll wait till 2 days before my semester reopens, such a cheapskate I am. laugh.gif

Care to post your speedtest when the line is totally congested? Like between 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m? notworthy.gif

I'm either in Malacca or Port Dickson and I don't think these two areas are WIMAXed areas, so I'll have to stick with these telcos. How sad. sad.gif

full bar with E logo on my phone, i think this is more on settings problem rather than coverage problem since im getting 115.2Kbps instead of 236Kbps of EDGE full speed.Anyone here using nokia phone to connect?
*
Oh, then I'm not so sure. Does this situation happen all the time or only at a certain time range? If it only happens after 8.00 p.m. maybe is due to Internet traffic congestion, this happens to all ISPs. smile.gif

i mean, how to get my nokia to functioning at 236kbps instead of 115.2kbps? it shows in the connection at the tray icon.
*
I think that does not matter so much because I was using Celcom 3G on Nokia 6630, it showed otherwise too on my tray icon, I forgot the figure being shown but definitely not 3G speed.
However, after I tested on speedtest.net or Mozilla Firefox add-on, it showed the speed I should be getting which was around 384kbps. smile.gif

Is that what you meant? unsure.gif Sorry, my post might not contributive as I'm not yet a DiGi EDGE user, just wannabe. smile.gif

Can someone enlighten me on the first payment I should make? How much should I pay? RM 66? Or anything else like administrative fees and etc.?

Appreciate if I can get an answer here so that I can get ready with the payment. smile.gif

I won't be tied with contract right, for RM 66 package? Besides that, what is the monthly payment I should make? When I was with Celcom, I only paid RM 68 for my D68 package, no government tax and etc. smile.gif

Sorry for being a nuisance here. notworthy.gif Hope someone is kind enough to answer my questions patiently. notworthy.gif

same as me... mine pay RM50...
and i takes 12 hours to active my line..
but im still not use for 1 month (subscribe on 16/5) and my upload/download more than 13GB.. hehehe

Fruitie...
better u take DIGI.. im also x celcom user and I know how suck they r..
No contract needed but u must prepare ur own modem which i believe u have..
However if u use huawei modem, u need web refresher as like me facing disconnected when im not doing anything around 10 second.. already inform DIGI CS and their tech tell me that they also receive some complaint from huawei user that their line disconnected if no activities happen around 10 second... Other than that I have no complaint.. speed wise and stable.... Even rainy still not affected...

What I like is I can torrent as many as I can... No cap limit... If u get good seeder.. u can reach 27KB/s as my post before...
rclxms.gif
*
So registration payment is RM 66+RM 50? unsure.gif
OK, points noted. rclxm9.gif
Yes, I have an HSDPA modem with me. biggrin.gif
What if I don't do anything but my BT is turned on, will it still face frequent disconnection? notworthy.gif

Thanks for test, I'll be using HSDPA modem, I hope no problem for this. wink.gif

Anyhow, might delay my plan to use DiGi EDGE because got an offer from someone to use Celcom D98 for free, so I'll be testing it first, see it will be capped or not. White mouse. tongue.gif Anyhow, DiGi EDGE will come in rescue after that, I'll still stick with DiGi EDGE because I'm waiting for DiGi to launch 3G. thumbup.gif
