I thought the battery recharges via brake energy regeneration? Did there mention charging via engine too?

Yes, engine will force start and charge if it falls below 3 bars. ~25% according to here
This is so that it can provide power to the inverter AC compressor and other engine stuff.

During driving it will also charge if you are coasting and are at certain throttle positions.
Throttle on 0-5% and on EV mode. It will Regen while coasting to imitate engine braking. But if you maintain at ~5%, the car will GLIDE. There's no engine braking feeling at ~5%. It literally GLIDES. It's a super awesome experience gliding around corners without losing speed in silence.
Throttle <30%, if you force engine on (tap throttle input +20%) then maintain throttle between ~15-30%, car will coast/maintain speed while charging battery.
Throttle ~50~xx%, not sure on upper range, don't usually maintain at this position but indicator sometimes show charging eventhough got enough battery / 3-4 bars.

Any hybrid driver here? Do your car sounds very loud when on low speed and on engine? And how's the the transmission from engine to battery and from battery to engine, is transmission smooth or there is some jerking
*
It sounds loud because maybe you forgotten how an engine sounds like after driving EV ? biggrin.gif
Open your window abit to compare with other car outside. smile.gif
Our ears always adapt to surroundings.
If you play a tone at a fixed volume, then expose a person to loud music for a few minutes, then listen to the same tone at the same fixed volume, the tone will sound soft.
If the person is in a quiet environment for a long time, then suddenly play the tone at same fixed volume, the tone will sound loud.

I posted about the jerking thing here.

It's "normal".

Hello City owners,
I have a v6 City year 2014 and recently there seems to be some sound coming from the front absorber whenever I go over speed bumps.

It felt like the absorber has lost its pressure and the bump hit the bottom of the car.
I sent to Honda service center for maintenance and inspection but came out nothing wrong with the absorber.

Anyone had the same problem?

Safe to say, unless you know how to access ur car and start the engine when the keyfob battery kongs, just get the battery replaced soonest possible.
To change battery is no biggie, utube has videos for it. But you can also go to those remote control keymakers or Honda svc ctr. Of cause, prices is most expensive when done at svc ctr.

Eco mode cuts trottle response , so when you even floor it it's just super slow to pick up and if you hit slightly harder it gets that you want to go faster

Also it cuts down a/c power , so even if you put at 25C , it just feels warm.

Now it makes the car shifts faster and on Hybrid cars , it tends to favor EV , so even if you press gently , it prefers EV. Now that's the good thing and bad. Good , you get more EV , but bad thing it makes you to use your battery much more

Here comes the tricky part , on stop-go traffic (this is on hybrid) , when there is no charge on the battery , it tries to upshift faster , which causes the infamous DCT lag. So if you have turned it off , it does reduce the DCT lag

Ahh. I never knew ECO also affects my aircon power. I always thought City aircon kinda sucky, especially when the center dashboard blowers has less airflow than the left & right ones.

Thanks for all the great people here who provided the input regarding the SA who offers great services and discounts.

Wanna ask.. Let's say I purchased those optional accessories like modulo kits upon getting my car from Honda. In the event of an accident, will the insurer fix back all the optional accessories for me? Or they just don't care?

I guess the Eco mode which make it feel sluggish/lethargic cause you to press on the throttle more...
