destination is not dependent on performance generally......but popular choices will of course be more competitive........student rank the 20+ unis in their preference order, and the unis also indicate their choice of students......and a sort of points system computer matching process will assign students to uni.......nobody know how it is actually done........

wait for hypermax to respond......

=================

at least the indian authorities have the political will to take action......

mmc faced the same dilemma with a new ipta some years back, mainly failing to meet the staff-student ratio.........their response is to ADJUST that requirement so the ipta complies with the NEW diluted requirement.......

i don't know what other 'adjustments' they have made since with the mushrooming of ipts med schools........some obviously not adequately staffed, nor have adequate clinical capacity for the students........

i repeat my stand: there is NO place for the under-regulated, for money, private training of doctors, as now practised in ipts in msia, and private med schools in india, russia, indonesia etc......

we reap what we sow......

only the indians in india are affecting wit this rule
msian not affected...
*
you obviously failed to understand the implications of this issue......yes, graduates now cannot register as doctors in india.......but the mmc has said last year when this issue first came up, that they will still recognise the mmmc degree........so it appears not to affect these potential doctors in mmmc msia......

thus begging the question.....what is deem not good enough for the country of origin, ie india, is acceptable for msia?......

for any other product, this is called dumping.......and there are laws against such dumping of substandard goods in usually 3rd world countries.......

seems like msia welcomes other countries' rejects...... rclxms.gif

In Msia there would never be such thing as "competitiveness in medical profession "
*
that is true.......msia's philosophy in education is not the pursuit of excellence, but the pursuit of the lowest common denominator.........

for the 2 countries msians go to work commonly, uk's gmc says that a major part of the course must be done in the country that awards the degree......and spore's smc says that the clinical component MUST be done in the award country.........

which means the degree from pmc, given by NUI, is NOT recognised by gmc and smc..........

which means also that monash msia's mbbs will also not be recognised by them.....

regulatory bodies (medical councils in the commonwealth countries) have taken cognizance of the mushrooming of 'twinning' medical programmes in third world countries, and are aware these programmes are often deficient, and NOT the same as the originals........the only reason for this 'twinning' programmes is obviously financial, there is no reason why ireland would want to lend it's name and train doctors for msia, if not for money.....and the medical councils do not like that.....

Holding KMC degree, JPA scholar are recognized but not private student. Why the double standard?
*
that is why i say the msian medical education scene is really messed up, out of control, with vested interests pulling in all directions......actually, it is mmc, NOT jpa that recognises qualifications.......but jpa never consult mmc, and have sent scholars to med schools not recognised by mmc.....and then they come and demand mmc recognise these scholars......happens once with some japanese uni......

how does a particular student know the adequacy and quality of the programme one is in, as one has no basis for comparison, either with current or historical controls?........

the disagreement with sheffield was acrimonious.........

whatever?

yes, that just about sums up the pitiful state of msian education, in particular, medical education......as long as one gets that piece of paper, and, to quote the minister of health, the 'license to kill'............

Im STPM leaver. Will that very hard to enter?
if the criteria is cheap and easy to get in, why not consider russia.........it's cheap........and VERY easy to get in........

amazing, the state of medical education in msia....... shakehead.gif

Added on February 13, 2009, 11:23 amanother interesting fact.......

unikl is effectively the private wing of mara........

therefore mara now effectively has TWO medical schools.......uitm and rpmc......

only in msia, with the hugh political patronage system, can this happen.......

all the more amazing that unikl is only accorded university status in 2002.......

okay....time out......

we are all victims of politics, and the harm divisive politics does to all, not just in terms of race relations, but in all areas of human endeavour, where such divisive policies permeates to mess up things.......

just had a chat with a professor of surgery in one of the iptas........such policies extends to 'force' passing very poor quality students......one of whom in the finals, did NOT know the normal ranges of a fbc result........

welcome to bodohland......... biggrin.gif

non-malays who gets into um will all be cgpa 4.0 scorers, and will become very competent doctors generally.......and their programme is still good, with the exception of lax assessment process (ie easy to pass, almost cannot fail people).........

the standard then slides down rapidly, to some new, untested unis, taking in people from form 5 with dubious results into 'guaranteed' foundation, and again, lax assessment process, virtually passing everybody.......

as a quality yardstick, smc recently only recognised um and ukm, and everybody knows what group of doctors they accept into service......

many foreign unis conducting courses in msia do not just accept muet alone (it is still compulsory as per lan), and requires an international english grading eg ielts........imu have the same requirement.....and from 2010, they will need ielts 7............

OK that mean I have to take TOEFL or IELTS now. That's really troublesome since I wanted to go to IMU. So where do I take this test? I think I wasted my time doing MUET when I should be dong something else if this is the step taken by most IPTS.
*
you will need both........ielts at least band 7 for pms stream ( a requirement of the pms) and have sat for muet, whatever band (a requirement of lan)..........

Thanks , I will be sure to take that test. I have already got a high Band 5. SO I don't think sitting for getting another test will would be too difficult. Is the test harder than Muet?
*
being complete honest here, i wonder, based on the level of english used in this forum, and the mistakes so frequently committed in simple postings, how one can get a 'high band 5' in muet?............ blink.gif

Just like sms. This neither a test nor an exam, so to simply type as long as others can understand, it is enough already isn't it? hmm.gif

no........

sms language is NOT acceptable in a forum like this........you have a qwerty keyboard for a good reason........

and if you continue to use bad english, it WILL become permanent........

i advise all to consciously use good english all the time...... nod.gif

you could easily google or wiki the answer, but you choose to be spoonfed..........not a good sign.........

when they first invented the typewriter, they calculated the letters most used in the commonly used words, and place them in the middle, for ease of typing, and the less used letters further out.......

sorry dude off topic but ur explanation is abit flawed.....coz i remembered it was to prevent the metal stamping thingy in the typrewriter from clashing...looked it up and here u go....

but just to reinforce the idea of googling things....one should always seek up knowledge....not taking spoonfeds...even more so as a future clinician....coz u know how drug company will always push 'their side of the story' to convince us over certain stuffs....

he was 'accused' of such, but it is not the case..........

Er, because I think if I were ever to write like in my essays, then I will be wasting my time trying hard just to keep up with the proper usage of the language. I do have a sample essay I sent to my MUET teacher when she started teaching us. Not that good but this was when I first started doing essays after my SPM. After doing the Space essay, she said that I'm anti-Sheikh. Lol, I thought this shows a different type ofessay that Form 6 students should do.

many of your mistakes are structural, with missing and wrongly places prepositions, and syntax......it shows a basic deficiency in the use of the language.......

your links are password blocked.......

at ielts level, expect to get band 5 to 6 for this.........
