Hi sifus,

Planning to buy my first ever laptop within the next few days as I'm out of the house a lot now and no chance to use my desktop d....

(desktop bought in 2015 - i5 4460, 8gb ram, Asus mobo b85mg, intergrated graphics)

Going to lowyat for look see look see 2moro but best know what I'm looking for first.... otws sure will be walking around like headless chicken
1. Preferred brand :
any , as long specs gives best bang for bucks
(1 that is durable and has reputation that lasts)
(so far few friend mentioned ASUS )
(Read through some of the stickies and gathered a few brand names which garnered bad feedbacks but will not bring up here, so not to spoil this thread )

2. Budget :
2.5k maxxxxx
(Don't mind spending a bit more as long as I can stretch my ringgit (durable and can last the extra few years)

3. Usage :
home/ use a lot of internet browsing/ work (Microsoft office) / light gaming .. though I don't even play any games on my desktop, but just in case tongue.gif

4. Screen Size : does not really matter - as long can fit in my bag pack ... I am a male so not too small I guess. And must be clear and easy for the eyes (1 of the reasons I never liked laptops in the past is bcoz it's very strenuous for the eyes)

Pls provide suggestions plz.. biggrin.gif
as all this while I never liked to use laptops ... hopefully with some inputs frm sifus here and window shopping with 1 of my tech friend 2moro , hopefully can get 1 that will change my perspectives of laptops. Lol.

Thanks in advance !

Try the new Inspiron 15 7000 series from Dell with the GTX1050 Ti. They have extended warranties you can buy, so it'll be safer than the other options.

Will this laptop be bulky? was previously using HP Pavillion AL156TX before someone broke into my house and stole it. Looking for something similar with better specs or lighter in weight/ elegant appearance

Previous bought notebook RM3.2k: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pav...ment/c05323433/

Thanks for your reply! it's used for light web browsing, movies and minor picture edits. Using a higher budget so that the computer will not lag in the near future.

Requirement
1. SSD required for (faster boot times)
2. 14 inch or less
3. computer does not feel sluggish

budget RM3200

IPS is not required but if possible included as well to watch movies biggrin.gif .

Hi all, looking for some recommendation. still in initial research stage so I'm flexible to change.

1. Preferred brand : Any

2. Budget : Ideal: RM3k, willing to go up to (pref lower end) RM4k+ if better fit my needs/usage.

3. Usage : Work (Important): Graphic Design programs (the smoother it runs the better), mainly - Photoshop, Illustrator; occasional video editing via After Effects + Other Adobe progs.
Occasional Gaming: Would be nice, not vital.

4. Screen Size : Min 14". Bigger is preferred, but I plan to dual screen with a larger monitor most of the time.

5. RAM: 8GB + , option to upgrade later is nice

6. Storage: SSD + HDD

7. Others: Good display (colour) (Not too knowledgeable about this), weight - don't care, anything is ok.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sifus,

Looking for notebook with preference below:

1. Budget ard RM3k, preferably not over RM3k
2. RAM 8GB
3. Storage 256GB SSD
4. Size 13"-14"
5. Screen 1920x1080 FHD
5. Weight around 1.5kg

Would like to know where can I get it? as I have searched online, I could not find 8GB RAM coupled with 256GB SSD that is within RM3k. would it be possible for me to purchase a 4GB RAM unit and upgrade it to 8GB? how much would it cost roughly and what model is recommended?

Kindly suggest a few models for me.

Thank you.
