after change tyre from 175/65 to 185/65, I feel my car pickup worsened. Is there any impact if I change the tyre size not as recommended ones?

I'm at 19k now... silverstone tyres. thread still got about 80% wor..

i used to have those that wear out damn fast, but this time really lasting. i don't drive very fast, handling and braking i think still ok for me. noise wise a bit noisy.

I don't rotate tyre , maybe that's the reason

original rim is et 35 and 5jj mine 1 is et38 and 5.5 jj the rim are kinda same level as the fender with 175/65/14 it don't hit the fender , but with 185/60/14 it hit fender everything going over potholes , some more the tyre just wider but not bigger than 175 makes the whole wheel diameter smaller maybe that explain why the pickup slower , due to have to rotate more half cycle to going same distance . , anyway back to 175 65 no more hitting fender on my rear end , with ori rim I don't think it will hitting fender

Is it dangerous for the gearbox if we downshift to '3' to climb the hill in the highway for more than 10 minutes? Just now I downshift to '3' for about 10 minutes to climb the terowong menora hill at Plus highway. Overall, the power is there and the engine revved up to 4K rpm with the speed of 110KM/H climbing the hill not to mention there are 3 passengers in the car and myself as a driver. I stayed at right lane most of the time and managed to 'potong' most of the car there laugh.gif

Original size will never hit fender. If changed beyond mfr recommended limit then sure beyond design spec. So, if anything happened, insurance will use as excuse not pay any compensation.

It will just run engine at high rpm. As long as it is not in red zone, it will just fine except more fuel consumption biggrin.gif Putting at 3 just mean that the gear will play from 1 to 3 and nothing above 3.

guess a lot people don't care and don't mind this , for me I already stick to original spec during my rim get stolen , just 5.5jj instead of 5 and et 38 instead of et35

Glad to hear that. Feel worried if that will cause 'premature death' to my gearbox. As for FC, I think still acceptable. Digital display showed 15.1KM/L while manual calculations 16.3KM/L for the journey from Tapah to Penang. Average speed 110KM/H and max at 130KM/H with four adults on board.

the indicator only for reference...

for my record of 69 Pumps...
average for my dashboard reading : 19.22km/l
average for my real driving record : 22.68km/l

that's a difference of 3.46km/l

it is only for reference. to get the real reading, you need to record all your usage manually

no problem bro, so long u have sufficient coolant.
i always go for full power when climbing slopes on highways. using 3rd gear is just sufficient, even for going up genting.
