use it, abuse it and get the best out of it. Also, depends on your spending ability and not get into debt. Make sure pay in full and don't let the banks get a dime.

QUOTE(alvin890 @ Apr 1 2024, 09:17 PM) Did anyone use Amex to pay shopee spay later on weekend for march, but today 1st Apr the cash rebate did not receive? Cash back will only show up on 2nd of every month via online banking, check tomorrow. I assume you mean M2Cards AmEx. If AmEx Ikhwan is on 8th. Wrong thread to ask by the way. I would suggest applying Maybank MUVI instead of the generic VI. At least MUVI gives 5x for groceries. aurora97 liked this post

QUOTE(coolguy99 @ Apr 18 2024, 09:48 PM) Is it still difficult to get the annual fee waiver for MBB MUVI? I cancelled mine some time back as they are not willing to give me waiver because I did not hit the min spend. Impossible to get waiver from MBB. Either spend enough or pay AF. MBB is the only bank which doesn’t bother to lose customers because people will still go to them to apply anyway. joshuaa85 liked this post

QUOTE(FinalHistory @ Jun 9 2024, 08:19 PM) I am looking for credit cards with very nice flexi payment plans with 0% interest and 0% management fees. Maybank currently has promo until 31st July but only 6 months, Affin Bank has 12 months are some of the examples.Last time PBB has this flexi plan where as long as the purchase exceeded RM 1,000. I can call to the customer service to convert it into 12 months installment plans. Recently UOB Bank has this promo for their Visa Infinite, 0% EPP installment plan for Education. So i am wondering is there any other bank have similar installment plan or promo? Especially for Education. Thank you This post has been edited by fruitie: Jun 9 2024, 08:23 PM |

QUOTE(FinalHistory @ Jun 11 2024, 11:12 AM) I checked a few banks' CC on the instalment plan, majority caters to luxury/retail spending and not education. So far I only see current UOB's Visa Infinite promo and sadly that is also for 12 months. Why not education? It is for everything, at least the ones I suggested earlier. If you guys knew any others bank, please share with me Not mentioned in T&C at all: https://www.maybank2u.com.my/iwov-resources...rate-fy2024.pdf, https://www.affinalways.com/storage/AffinAl...Plan-TnC-EN.pdf How did you come up with this conclusion? |

QUOTE(FinalHistory @ Jun 11 2024, 01:01 PM) For Maybank the Tenure is too short for my education fees. Retail transactions include of education. Most credit cards will not specify categories by categories for such thing. If you are worried then check with CS first. For Affin Bank, it mentioned specifically Retail Transaction. I dunno is Education is consider as part of Retail Transaction or not. Because my benchmark is compare against UOB which indeed stated the Education category in their T&C. I just worry after I swipe my card and it is not eligible, then i will be in deep problem. So I have to betul betul ensure This post has been edited by fruitie: Jun 11 2024, 01:24 PM FinalHistory liked this post

QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Jun 13 2024, 11:47 AM) Hi everyone, I'm 30 y/o this year and I have never own a credit card in my life, mainly due to me thinking that it would serve as a liability more than a necessity. A credit history that is too clean may make your credit application difficult in the future.I would say I manage my monthly salary well, and control my monthly spending so overall my financials is in good hands. I earn about 2.5 - 3k per month, including paying off for every other needs. Now my main question, should I apply for credit card ? I don't think I'll be using it at all, maybe a few times per month, just to keep a good track of credit score, so it'll be easier to take a loan in the future, any advice ? Mainly I'll still be using Debit card I'm not a fan of using debit cards for purchases, etc., even if I'm cash-rich because they give you direct access to your savings account. If any fraud happens, your money is gone, and you need a long time to recover from the bank, etc. I'm not saying you won't get fraud cases using credit cards, but that's a credit, and no actual money is taken from you yet. Usually, the transaction can be reversed after a dispute with banks, and you don't need to pay anything. I would say it is not a bad thing to own credit cards for convenience and emergency purposes. If you can manage your finances well, then I don't see it as an issue. |

QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Jun 13 2024, 01:19 PM) I see, thanks for all the valuable advice, so basically as long as I can continue to keep my budget under control, and set aside a portion for savings, overall controlling my financials well, I should get a credit card and use it occasionally for marketing / buying this and that, just to keep up the credit score ? If you already have credit cards, you don't need to use debit cards anymore. I plan to use credit card for petty stuff like buying daily necessities, so I make sure I don't overspent and able to pay off at the end of the month, and Debit card for the rest as usual, would this be a good arrangement ? Anyway, wrong place to ask, post it here instead: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4281854&hl= I just noticed this is the Recommendation thread. QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Jun 21 2024, 03:37 PM) No no, don't get me wrong. I just want to know what's the minimum amount to spend to be eligible for the cashback for the Maybank credit card, of course my minimum spending per month would be way more than that. QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 21 2024, 04:17 PM) RM 20 for total spending in a month (to get at least RM 1 cash back), not RM 20 minimum spend for each transaction. Sotsotzaii and Ramjade liked this post

QUOTE(yeah016 @ Jun 26 2024, 03:36 PM) No, I don't think so. The card is no longer available for new applications.I'm not surprised if it will be revised and change to EOL product in the future. However, they have stopped application for True Visa for a year or something now. yeah016 liked this post

QUOTE(Porkycorgi5588 @ Sep 22 2024, 12:22 AM) on a side note, how does the spending PA count? Check the embossed month on your card, that will determine the spending period. Some examples below:Say, I got the card in 2022, do I have to spend 80k in 2022 or 2023 for the fee waiver? Im under the impression that if I get the card by Oct 2022, then the annual fee will be charged in Oct 2023 statement. To waive the fee, I must spend 80k from Oct 2022 to Sept 2023. correct me if my understanding is wrong. If the month embossed is April and your card is approved this year’s Jan, the spending period is from March 27, 2024 to March 26th, 2025. The AF will be imposed on March 27th 2025. From Jan to March 26th, 2024, the spending within this period will not be counted as part of the 80k. However, you still get to earn the points during this period. If the month embossed is Sept and you get the card in September 2024, your spending period taken into calculation is from Sept 2024 to Aug 26th, 2025. In short, the expiry month on your card determines the spending period. |

QUOTE(Porkycorgi5588 @ Sep 23 2024, 07:17 AM) meaning to say if Yes. Second year will be charged upfront. - annual fee, free for first year, this just means they dont charge annual fee in my first statement - 2nd year onwards 80k PA. (27 March 2024 to 26 March 2025) I need to spend 80k If not, 27th march 2025, the annual fee will reflect in my statement? so, if i wanna cancel the card due to annual fee or ask for waiver etc, i have to do before 26th March 2025? Yes, will be charged on 27th March 2025. Maybank won’t entertain waiver unless you spend enough and it will be automatically waived. You can cancel before 27th March 2025 or after that provided you don’t spend anymore after AF is charged. This post has been edited by fruitie: Sep 23 2024, 10:41 AM |

The cards should be also showing up on CCRIS I guess? At least they will show that they were approved by the FIs. How can one apply so many cards “out of curiosity”?
