What is the best credit card for annual income of 300k MYR?
*
follow template in post #2

without knowing details, your single-line of question is too general.

your "best" may not same as my "best" and others' "best" card.

also, usually, no single best card available. you'll need to mix-and-match with various banks/cards to maximize the benefits against your spending.

annual income is just one of the basic application requirements.

Affin bank seems to have 0% FPP right now till June 2025.
But I am not sure whether college fees count as "retail transaction" stated in t&c.
*
"retail transaction" means transactions that YOU pay ....

non-retail transactions are those charges/fees from bank itself (those that you did not pay).

Hello everybody, currently, is there any credit card issuers not charging Dynamic Currency Conversion fee (fee for payment by using Ringgit Malaysia when payment gateway is in overseas)?

Thank you! I actually own credit cards issued by two of the financial institutions listed under "Banks which doesn't charge" in first post of that thread. Previously, long time ago, I got charged DCC fee. But, I forgot which card.

But, I decided to try again. Today, I changed one of my Google Play subscriptions to use credit card. The next payment due date is in next few days. I will give update in that thread if I got charged for DCC again.

Bank Islam Visa Platinum seems nice, and no see any insurance in the excluded list, so maybe insurance still eligible for the cash back. Thanks for the recommendation.
*
nice, thanks for sharing

small cb, but cb % is good and min spend reasonably achievable

1. Annual Income: Above RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably no. If has annual, should have a waiver clause.

3. Card required for: Cash Back, Lounge Access, Apple Pay support

4. Existing credit cards (if any): HSBC Premier World MC, MBB FC Barcelona Visa

5. Interested in CC from: Any bank - as long as it meets the card requirements

6. Others: Must support Apple Pay. Rewards/Miles not necessary.
*
ApplePay support in Malaysia is limited to certain issuing banks and some with selected cards

Apple Pay participating banks and card issuers in Asia-Pacific – Apple Support (MY)

AmBank (Mastercard and Visa credit cards) Apple Pay
HSBC Your iPhone is now your card | Credit Cards - HSBC MY
Maybank (American Express, Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards) Apple Pay | Digital Products and Services | Maybank Malaysia
RHB Bank Berhad (Visa credit and debit cards) Apple Pay | RHB Malaysia
Standard Chartered Bank (Mastercard and Visa credit cards) Apple Pay | RHB Malaysia

you may want to research yourself first which bank/card is suitable.

i dont get this.. whats the point of increasing the cb% if the max CB stay the same.. might as well get gold instead of plat/infinite...
*
card tier placement/level

capping is to manage abuse/risk

for you, just get Gold lo ...

if considering cash back only,
unless the monthly minimum spend RM 500 cannot be achieved, the platinum would be optimal choice
3% cash back: gold minimum spend RM 1,000; platinum minimum RM 500
the 5% on infinite is kind of meaningless when the cap is RM 30

not sure if they come in pairs/dual (visa + mastercard) such as MBB/Affin or whether 1 can be cancelled like PBB
*
haha yes

some times, these spending criteria is irrelevant. they just want to whack the card to get cashback biggrin.gif

one need to study each card vs cb tier vs min spending, to maximize the cb earning/spending ... just like what you did above thumbup.gif

Maybank Visa Signature 5% cb everyday for petrol and grocery cap at RM88

if purely targeting the spend to hit RM88 cb per month (ie RM1760 per month only); then be mindful of the huge RM550 annual fee from year2 if annual spending didnt meet min RM30k (min RM2500 per month)

Aren't MBB 2 Card Amex have updated their weekend cash back, preventing us from using it for utilities

Quoted from MBB website:
Effective 1st June 2019, 5% Cash Back for all purchases (except for government bodies and utilities) on weekends (capped at RM50 per month)

or paying through Lazada bypasses that?
*
maybank only see Lazada ... what you buy within lazada is transparent to the bank.

have you ever seen your purchased items all itemized in your cc statement?

Hello sifus, I currently have Maybank Ikhwan Plat Amex Credit, Maybank Cashback Gold Amex Credit, and Maybank FC Barca Plat Visa Credit.

My monthly spending is around RM 4.5K, my 6-month median cashback:
1. From the Ikhwan Plat Amex - RM 50 a month
2. From the Cashback Gold Amex - RM 29 a month
3. From the FCBarca Plat Visa - RM 11 a month

Do I start optimising for airmiles at this spend level - assuming I fly overseas 1-2 times a year; one of those to Africa (usually Johannesburg, SA) via Emirates, the other a random holiday with no set airline (I'd stick to one airline if my CC gives miles for it) - or just stick to cashback? Therefore, should I continue keeping these 3, or are there other options that would be better? (Eg. Consolidating / switching to a different card)
*
no comments on airmiles.

2. From the Cashback Gold Amex - RM 29 a month

iinm, this is unlimited 1%. with rm29 cb, that's about rm2900 spending using CB Amex Gold.

since these spendings/merchants already accepting amex, perhaps you can get Maybank 2 Card Amex? it gives weekend 5% cb, rm1000 spending gives rm50 cb per month.

remaining rm1900 spending using CB Gold amex instead.

3. From the FCBarca Plat Visa - RM 11 a month

i guess this is general spending, mostly offline swipes?

rm11 cb from rm1100 spending (1% cb rate)

perhaps can get Affin Duo+? the Visa Signature card gives 3% cb for any offline spend below rm250/txn. you can get rm50 cb with up to rm1667

for other general online spending, can get RHB Shell or RHB WMC or Affin Duo.

What card best to use. Pay insurance lump sum 50k… cashback all capped

Most points all very low for insurance e.g. 1 point for RM1 @ Maybank.

But it seems there’s nothing better than Maybank VI.
*
lumpsum 50k recurring every month? or just one-time payment?

which insurance is this? have asked them whether they accept amex?

It looks like all cards are getting nerfed.

My go-to was:

1. RHB Shell Visa - RM100
2. HLB Wise - RM55
3. Maybank Ikhwan Amex - RM50

Can easily get RM200 cashback per month.

My spending is "real", no e-wallet filler. But I do use Spaylater to maximize cashback for most groceries/dining spend.

Spend around RM4k per month across groceries, insurance, condo maintenance, petrol, Shopee/Lazada, dining and misc retail spending.

What's the best card to replace the RHB Shell Visa?

I've been seriously considering UOB One Platinum, however their groceries cashback is limited to selected merchants that I do not shop at. Also I don't use Grab/Grabpay at the moment.
*
mbb ikhwan mc for petrol/grocery (no min spend, Fri/Sat)
mbb ikhwan visa petronas for petronas only (no min spend, weekends)

affin duo (visa) for insurance, shopee/lazada, condo maintenance (online if using app) -- min spend 3050

affin duo+ (visa) for dining, misc spending (no min spend)

or bank islam Visa Platinum for Overseas (CardPresent), Online, Auto Bill, Grocery & Dining -- which covers nearly all your spending; but capped cb is low

After being so outdated in cc cashback, i'm here to seek opinions on my existing cards.

Annual Income: > RM 100k

Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Waivable is acceptable

Card required for: Online shopping (90% spaylater), ewallets topup, dining, petrol

Looking for: Cashback, not into air miles

Existing credit cards (if any):
1) MBB M2 Amex - 5% on weekend max RM50
2) MBB Amex Ikhwan - 8% online (mainly spaylater) max RM50
3) MBB FCB VS - 1% (mainly insurance auto debit, around 4-5k/yr, enough to cover tax and earn little  blush.gif )
4) Aeon Big Visa Gold - 2% online max RM15
5) PBB Islamic Visa - 2% online max RM15 (planning to cancel b4 next anniversary)
6) PBB Quantum Master (mainly for PBB promo, enough to cover tax)
7) PBB Visa Signature - 2% online max RM30
8) UOB One Master and Visa - Grab reload, petrol, dining (RM30 per month each but going to cancel b4 next anniversary due to AF)

Any recommendation to replace my cards (especially #3, #5 and #8) above based on same spending pattern? TIA  notworthy.gif
