QUOTE(telohollow @ Mar 27 2025, 01:20 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 1. Annual Income: RM30K to RM60K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (but okay if easily waived and not expensive)
3. Card required for: - Cashback on Petrol (daily commute of 100km, might reduce after job relocation) - Cashback on Online Shopping (Shopee, Lazada, etc.) - Cashback on Groceries - Direct cashback preferred over reward points (but open to points if benefits are clearly better)
4. Existing credit cards (if any): - RHB Islamic Rewards (Not activated) - RHB Islamic Cash Back (Not activated) - HLB Sutera Visa Platinum (Not activated, annual fee charged but waivable upon activation) - HLB WISE Visa Gold (Not activated, annual fee charged but waivable upon activation) (Note: All were applied at a booth set up in my company – applied out of curiosity, haven’t activated any)
5. Interested in CC from: Any bank (currently eyeing CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum)
6. Others: - First time credit card user - I regularly spend on Shopee, possibly RM500/month or more, but I don’t track it closely so it may vary - Prefer cards without overly strict maintenance requirements (e.g. high min spend or too many swipes) - Want to avoid paying annual fees unless the card gives strong value - Optional: EPP (Easy Payment Plan) – might use later - Main goal: Build credit score as I'm just starting to use credit cards - Ideally looking for 1 beginner-friendly card that covers petrol + online shopping - Open to learning basic stacking strategy if worth it
Please cancel all the credit cards that you dont plan to use. You don't just simply apply out of curiosity. You don't want to leave it hanging and have balance owing just because you didn't cancel it. Just don't do it... Recommended easy to use card --> Maybank 2 card amex.

QUOTE(TiMMy_Burch @ May 23 2025, 03:41 PM) what about maybank visa infinite? compare to these two? If want to take, take man utd visa infinite version. Conversion is low for Maybank. But Maybank has option for SQ and cathay Pacific.

QUOTE(yimingwuzere @ Jul 16 2025, 08:21 AM) Are there any <100k annual salary cards that still offer airport lounge access, without high spending criteria requirements or unavoidable annual fees? Can look into hsbc visa signature or hsbc travel one. I was using hsbc VS for my recent trips. Just cancelled the card last week. No weird criteria for the lounge. Which is convenient cause i barely used the card. QUOTE(chelski44 @ Jul 15 2025, 06:24 PM) How to maximize the MBB Ikhwan Amex? so far i use for Shopee & Agoda only, TNG ewallet topup consider as Online spend? Paying bills like unifi, mobile phones as well. I was checking the mbb ikhwan website, there is no exclusion for Utilities, so paying TNB works too. QUOTE(yimingwuzere @ Jul 16 2025, 01:56 PM) Travel One has an annual fee of RM300, VS RM600. According to RinggitPlus/CompareHero, waivers for VS require annual spending of RM2,000 and spend at least once a month for 12 consecutive months, T1 annual spend of RM20,000. Are call-in waivers also an option if one uses HSBC for their primary bank account? I find it strange that there's no mention on the waivers on HSBC's website. so far waiving of the annual fee seems easy for me, last 2 to 3 years easy to waive. i got this card in Nov 2021, got few years experience. just use the app to chat will do, dont need to call if you dont like to call. but getting the offset for the RM25 service tax is harder. which is why based on my personal experience, HSBC VS seems somewhat low maintenance. not entirely WITHOUT maintenance, still manage-able.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 16 2025, 12:00 PM) Cannot pay bills via M2U using Ikhwan AmEx as it won’t be counted as cash back. Obviously, TNB also won’t be considered into cash back. I see. my bad. but TNB website accepts amex though. wont it count? ya, then wont work for unifi, but major telcos accepts amex on their website/portal? should still work right?

1. Annual Income: RM150k and above
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must. Ease of service rax rebate is definitely a plus.
3. Card required for: Lounge access. Mostly local is fine (penang, johor) but overseas lounge is fun. Want a minimum hassle lounge access card for the rare 1 or 2 times i travel for work. I am ok to apply 1 card and cancel 1 year later also.
4. Existing credit cards (if any): UOB ONE, mbb 2 amex
5. Interested in CC from: HLB VI, MBB WME. Ambank card?
6. Others: why MBB MWE just for some MWE perks. Recently cancelled hsbc vs.

QUOTE(jkfoong @ Oct 3 2025, 04:12 PM) I have a SC Simply Cashback card with balance and i'm looking to cancel it because i couldn't waive the annual fee. Can I apply for a SC Platinum Mastercard Basic, cancel the cashback card and combine the limit? Do I have to clear off the balance first? Call SC and ask. Usually they will want you to clear the balance before cancelling. I could be wrong, best to ask SC.
