Hopefully able to get some credit card recommendations to increase my cashback earnings further icon_rolleyes.gif

1. Annual Income: RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Must, or waivable by meeting requirements (or call to CS)

3. Card required for:
    a. Topup Grab, Tng or Setel for Duitnow (or topup Grab > topup Setel to scan Duitnow)
    b. Dining
    c. Petrol (Petronas with CardTerus)

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
    a. UOB One Platinum (my daily card)
    b. OCBC Titanium Mastercard
    c. OCBC Great Eastern Platinum MasterCard  (shelved under the drawer, only used for direct debit for Insurance)
    d. Maybank Grab (shelved under the drawer)

5. Interested in CC from: Any bank will do, as long as Annual Fee or SST can be waived

6. Others:
    a. Looking for credit cards with better cashbacks to complement spending habits
    b. Want to replace OCBC Titanium since the benefits are revised
*
Affin duo or public islamic visa for ewallet top up

I like to suggest maybank 2 card amex or maybank ikhwan gold for petrol. I prioritise those 5% cashback over setel. I dunno how card terus works.

QUOTE(fixion @ Dec 28 2023, 05:06 PM)
1. Annual Income: RM50k-RM70k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (or waivable after meet certain requirements)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): MBB shopee visa, MBB 2 cards platinum master & amex, PBB quantum visa(useless now)

5. Interested in CC from: N/A

6. Others: Looking for better credit cards that offers cashback and some airmiles if possible. petrol and online spending i use MBB shopee while weekend using amex. planning to replace the shopee visa and quantum if got nicer cashback offers

Can look maybank ikhwan amex for online shopping. That is everyday but still amex. If dont want amex, affin duo still good.

Uob one card is an ok choice.

Thanks for the suggestion! Actually CardTerus is just straightaway charge to your credit card to pump petrol through Setel, instead of deducting your Setel e-wallet

Another questions, since I have UOB one platinum already, can I still apply UOB one classic also?
*
I think has been mentioned not possible.

I have been using the Maybank 2 Gold/Amex for years and in particular liking their 5% cashback for amex on weekends. My only gripe is that Amex is only accepted in certain establishment.

Is there any other credit card that currently offers better than this? Thanks!
*
Seriously, no. Not without other level of complexity involved. Amex is straightforward in a sense. As long as it is accepted. If you have been using it for years, you would start to build muscle memory of where can accept amex and where cannot.

Some popular consideration will be uob one card, affin duo, public islamic visa.

But depends on your spending criteria.

QUOTE(algorhythm @ Jan 6 2024, 12:25 AM)
Thanks for the advice ! Let me take a look at Affin Duo and Maybank Petronas. For Maybank 2 Card , they still charge me RM 25* 2 cards even though I never activate another card 🥲 having bad experience with PBB app
*
Yes. You should expect to pay rm25 for every card you have. It will be a bonus if you manage to escape.

If i am you, i will cut 3, 5, 8 9.

Since they cut benefit on mbb amex reserve, i started using more m2u amex platinum. So i will keep that.

I cancelles barcelona because i had to focus on visa infinite / amex reserve combo. Else cant hit the 80k spending.

In hindsight abit regret because it's a good general usage card. I can give it to my mother to use. Since i cancelled, i lazy to reapply, i gave my mum my hsbc VS. Which to be honest is not spectacular. So i suggest you cancel. Move your auto debit to other cards.

You already have so many uob card. The prvi elite is for your lounge and klia limo benefit. Also the miles conversion is good for overseas spending only. The uob world card probably has too many funny details so i think easiest is to cancel this.

Stan chart is for the "free" grab but comes with so mucb tnc. Plus i hated their banking app UI so i cancelled. Even though they offered rm200.

1. Annual Income: RM60K to RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for:
Petrol : rm600/month
Shopee/Lazada : rm 1000/month
Groceries : rm300
F&B : rm500
Utilities : rm 2000/month
ewallet : rm 1000/month

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
Maybank Premier Platinum 2 cards : Amex and MC
Maybank Ikhwan Petronas Platinum Visa (Only used for petrol)

5. Interested in CC from: Any Islamic CC with good cashback and reward points

6. Others: I have been happily using my Amex and MC MBB 2 cards but I believe it is time to start using Islamic banking. Any suggestions?

I LOVE CASHBACKS and Multiple POINTS!
My primary bank is MBB and have never used other CC other than MBB.

Thank you so much for your suggestion.

for your shopee/lazada you can get the maybank ikhwan amex platinum card. essentially that card gives cashback for online purchase for all platform. but of course it has to 1st accept amex which both shopee/lazada does.

e-Wallet --> Public Islamic Bank Visa Platinum

if you dont want to JUST pump petrol at PETRONAS by using maybank ikhwan petronas, maybank ikhwan gold mastercard can be a good consideration because it covers all petrol and grocery. but limited to friday and saturday only... but the ikhwan petronas is fine to be honest. 8% is hack alot of cash back.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Doesn't matter as long can offset after certain amount annual spending

3. Card required for: Airmiles

4. Existing credit cards (if any): M2UP

5. Interested in CC from: ???

Since the devaluation of M2UP, I'm looking for another card for the best miles accumulation from local spending. I'm spending around 40-50k monthly but only in Malaysia (including supplementary). Could anyone recommend a good card for exchanging them for miles? I don't care about cashback since they are usually quite limited
*
If you are spending that much each month, you can consider the amex platinum charge card. The 3k annual is not easy to swallow but you do spend alot to so call breakeven... you do your own maths.

Hi would like to get any suggestions for a second CC. Been using the m2card since its glory days where get 5x points everyday. Now feel losing out on alot of points.

1. Annual Income: About RM 100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes, if no Preferably waivable with minimum spend

3. Card required for: Cashback of more than RM 50 from maybank 2 cards. Better points collection

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Platinum card (Amex/Visa)

5. Interested in CC from: No preference, any bank

6. Key monthly spendings:
- Insurance - 1k
- Petrol - 300-400
- Utilities (Internet, Phone ) - 500
- Groceries/Dining - 500-600
- Travelling - probably about 1-2x/year

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
*
All credit cards will have capping on the cashback. The Maybank cards you hold is giving the best cash back although stuck on Amex and weekend spend.

You can add on UOB one card for more cash back but it works more complicated than Maybank. Or you can look into Maybank visa signature for more grocery and petrol cashback. Or Maybank Barcelona for that 1% all cash back, to cover for insurance of 1k per month

1% may seem little but most cards give low to no points/cashback for insurance anyway

Any suggestions for following requirements?
1. Annual Income: RM 100k++

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A must - can accept easy conditional waivers such as use 12 times a year. Not acceptable if need to spend more than 10k a year to get waiver

3. Card required for: Mainly for daily retail use, groceries, dining, clothes, online, etc.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Cards Platinum - very good, but getting harder to use Amex, so exploring alternatives

5. Interested in CC from: Any banks will do.

6. Key monthly spendings:
Groceries - ~500/month
Utilities - ~300/month
Petrol - ~200/month

7. More info :
Preferable cash back type that can at least offset annual tax
Not complicated to use (to get the cash back) - some cards need to spend more than a certain amount before the higher % kicks in is a bit hard to meet
Current Amex can get cash back ~10/month (because not many shops accepts Amex anymore eg. Petron, Supermarkets etc) and able to maximize to 50/month twice a year during Christmas and CNY shopping (also getting harder)
So, just wondering if there's anything better out there

Thanks in advance
*
Can look into HLB wise or UOB one. These 2 a bit more complicated

Can look into Maybank Ikhwan gold for grocery/petrol spending.

As for your current amex, I choose to pump petrol at petronas and shell because these 2 brand will accept. Other brands will depend on outlet. Whatever loyalty programme can’t beat a 5% cashback. As for grocery, even speedmart accepts. I usually go to bigger supermarket for grocery and they will accept but I understand this one could be depending on convenience and price do vary pretty widely among different outlet.

Phone bills and unifi bill will get cash back with Amex. If you use the main telcos.

Best of all, Lazard and Shopee both can use Amex.

Look into maybank 2 card amex. It's not complicated to use as long as they accept amex. Just swipe on weekends

Or maybank barcelona for expenses like insurance. 1% everything with few exclusions.

Hello guys, any Maybank credit card recommendation?
Working in SG not holding any CC. Annual income RM100k after convert. Currently wanna apply only for ccris score only, don't need highclass CC
Prefer no annual fee
Is it possible to apply online? Coz seldom back to Malaysia
*
maybank 2 cards, no annual fee, easy easy to maintain. but service tax RM25 each, so need to pay RM50 per year. if want to jimat, apply maybank ikhwan gold card, buy grocery get 5% cashback.

you can try applying online but they are known to easily reject people who apply online based on feedback on this forum. i think maybank filtering criteria too strict for their online.

ambank has generally decent cards for lounge but access may be limited to x times a year.

you can look into uob visa infinite or uob PRVI miles elite. They are not good for earning miles but they can give you the additional lounge access.

Maybank 2 amex card

- 5% cashback during weekend for everything (except government, utilities, ewallet). Shopee / lazada works. Can use it for grab expenses (not grabpay reload) too. Covers major telco and unifi.

Maybank barcelona visa signature
- 0 annual fee
- 1% cashback for most expenses except government, utilities, ewallet.
