What happen???
I love some of the programs..
Like Lost at SEA  & the halal foodie tongue.gif

Usually the reason why Astro cease broadcast the channel is either due to very low viewership, or the agreement between the channel provider has ended.

And right now GoAsean. Then this GoAsean replace to.......??

No channel replacement.

Remember this: Channel replacement after a channel being ceased is not in Astro's blood.

I think the reason they drop Indo Pek from Value Pack 1 because they know that majority of the Malays aren't so interested in watching Indonesian content. So, they rather replace to Korean pack to attract more Malay viewers to subscribe Value Pack 1.

Yeah. Pray for Astro to replace these two channels when they close down.

Just not in-house channels. They already have lots. Why make more of that stuff? Gets boring all the time.
*
What "these 2 channels"? Astro don't carry Syfy and Universal Channel in their platforms. But Hypp TV do carry the 2 channels, and it is part of their expensive Jumbo pack.

For our upcoming terrestrial pay TV service, MYTV is the operator, but premium channels to be provided by TM.

Just an update on the launches here, Stingray Music, was made available on Singtel TV yesterday, available on ch 800. Similar to the radio offerings on astro.

But the Astro satellite radio channels isn't as good as Stingray Music of course...

Thanks for sharing with us the update. biggrin.gif

I see need fibre broadband required. If astro offer this. Must be "On Demand Music*" add on.. hmm.gif laugh.gif

*Need access to home unlimited internet.
*Recommend speed is 5Mbps(fibre plan/telco).
*
That Stingray Music, provided by Singapore's pay TV service uses IPTV instead of DTH (direct-to-home, or a.k.a satellite). And the service is provided through fibre broadband.

Astro said the GOASEAN channel provider has make desicion to cease transmission on Astro and only available on those OTT platform such as Tonton and Dimsum, you need internet required to watch GOASEAN.
*
Yeah. I think GOASEAN can't afford to pay Astro to extend the agreement with them, either because they have no longer the financial abilities for it, or due to low viewership that doesn't bring much profit to continue on. So I guess that's why they decided to pull the plug from Astro.

I mean you need good speed to access OD. 1mbps is slow & not even load 1GB data. Looks like the future is internet & IPTV..
*
Yes it is true. If you stay in places where no fibre broadband service available, yet you want a faster internet connection (compared to your 1Mbps Streamyx, I assume) and unlimited, consider either Digi Postpaid Infinite 150 plan (RM150/month), webe RM79/month plan, or U Mobile P78 plan (RM78/month).

No problem smile.gif

Unless astro considering broadband services via DTH ..... Believe India DTH operators are considering the same.
*
Broadband services via satellite? Nah.... Satellite TV and satellite broadband is a two different thing. It requires different equipments and stuff.

Satellite are unlike cable or IPTV, where triple play services can be offered by service provider. Satellite is just, works differently.

In this case, Astro has Video On Demand and only available with our PVR box (aka DVR, for Singapore), but it requires customer's STB to connect to our own ISP's Internet connection either via built in WiFi on our STB or LAN connection. So in other words, Astro delivers VOD content to customers STB through third party ISP instead of Astro's own network, unlike Hypp TV or Singapore's Singtel or Starhub TV.

And, any VOD content you select to play will be downloaded and save to PVR box instead of streaming type like Hypp TV or Singtel/Starhub TV.

Satellite broadband has high ping & not stable when raining like astro. So no internet service provide by satellite tech. Btw, really hope astro will add Aniplus to TV viewer because the channel air latest & legal(with censor). Plus Attack On Titan Season 3 will come next year. And also K+ channel within next year. Hope to see latest K-drama at the Same Day as Korea. K+ got some latest OCN channel latest show!! drool.gif rclxm9.gif

As of Comedy Central. Maybe not interesting since astro heavily censore the joke & delay it by 1 hour instead.. sad.gif
*
Actually Malaysia do have satellite broadband, but not for consumer use. It is commonly used in petrol stations (as you can see a big dish on top of petrol stations, commonly for credit card payments, not for staff to watch YouTube or go Facebook, if that's what you're wondering), government uses, certain very rural areas like in East Malaysia where Internet connection may not available, or use for the marines, etc. They call it VSAT. But then, it is only in C band. As far as I know, no Ku band satellite broadband is offered in Malaysia as the service will be affected during bad weather.

I think la, the reason why Astro put 3 channels that you mentioned earlier to made available on Astro Go only is because they want to attract more people to know about Astro Go and use their service. They know most of the youngsters loves anime, Korean content, or even American comedy shows, so that purposely put it exclusively on Astro Go, first. So, there's nothing gonna do with censorship. Censorship applies on all channels, regardless of TV or OTT platforms.

Sooner or later, Astro did mention that those 3 channels will be offered on TV platform at a later date, but no specific date is announced.

Yeah. I know all channel will be censor. But, Comedy Central me always watching(stand-up comedy). Got a lot of beep beep & potong scene. Really sial the words is cut(at same time i laff when got beep sound). Even Astro Warna MLM 2017 also they make the bad word to silent. I know that astro delay LIVE joke show maybe in 1-2 minute from the original one.

And again, about quality on Astro Go they still not fix it yet. If you use their Tribe app. Wow the picture is really good
Has improve a bit & the monthly payment for Tribe channel & on-demand content as low as RM5/month!! But here we need to subscribe astro bloody more than RM100/month to get access to the very best range of channel. Even Astro Go 3 exclusive channel required you to buy Astro satellite & link your smart card number to gain access to this 3 exclusive channel! Again, dirty business tactic by astro.. doh.gif sad.gif
*
Better quality service, prioritise on other countries. This is normal for Malaysia branded stuff. If you compare Malaysian brand that marketed in Malaysia with the one that export to other country, surely the export quality is better. So, there's nothing to be surprised about.

Hi, i found out there are people selling astro PVR on lelong. Can i purchase that and replace my faulty PVR ? (i have PVR that cannot use HDMI port to connect to TV. Dont want to ask astro to swap because still have some series that havent finished watching yet). is it possible ? Does the smart card ties to the PVR ?
*
No you can't.

Astro B.yond boxes are paired with your smart card, and it is not interchangeable with other B.yond boxes.

Can you describe what happen to the HDMI on your PVR? What error message do you see? Have you tried rebooting your Astro box? How about connecting RCA cable to your TV?

i think it was struck by lightning. no picture came out from HDMI port. now i am using RGB ports. Its been more than a year already about this. If this is the case, definitely have to watch all those series prior asking astro to change to new PVR
*
If your PVR is struck by lightning, your PVR are more likely not able to work at all.

Have you tried change a new HDMI cable? Tried connect to other HDMI ports on your TV?

Same.... My area is a Maxis exclusive area, meaning that TM service can't enter to my area. So my area can only subscribe to Maxis Fibre or Maxis Wired Internet (ADSL)

Hi guys, I want to connect VOD by my pvr set which using wifi n hotspot to my umobile.

Bt it seems like it won't download the program from my pvr set n display "Please hold" after I purchase the vod (which is free one).

Is it umobile block connection to astro vod? (Not astro on the go) one. Or is it problem for pvr set?
*
Maybe the speed is too slow? Try other telco, if any of your family members using different telcos than U Mobile.

well thats the problem. the PVR still works even though lightning struck. have tried all suggestions, change hdmi port at tv, change cable. all does not works. both my PVD have same issues. no i have put it on belkin surge protector and no more problem when lightning. just that to change the PVR. no time to watch the series yet. if we terminate astro, the pvr need to be returned right ?
*
They will impose penalty fee if you terminate during your 24 months contract period and you'll need to return the PVR box.

If your 24 months contract is over and you want to terminate Astro, whether you need to return the PVR box or not, it depends on the situation.

Or, you can tell Astro to change a new PVR box for you. It is free, but your 24 months contract will restart. Or, you can inform Astro about the technical issue that you're experiencing, and they may send a technician over to your premise and rectify the issue.
