Quoted from The Scourge
Picked up mine from yuheng yesterday, sorry man! Rushing arund couldn't stay n chat. Thanks for making the trip; didn't really get to test the 'phones properly yet but its clear they need a lot of burning in! First impressions are pretty good with excellent clarity and pretty good soundstage for IEMs. Found the bass somewhat lacking (even with bass booster on my nano; stuffing the pads in the ear is really important for a good seal) but I think this might improve after some hours. Will know for sure after another say 20 hours of testing, but everyone should get a pair!! |

Update: The bass is filling in nicely now even at this stage; I need to stress again how important it is to get a good seal. The tips are quite soft so the angle of insertion is crucial and a few degrees off the sweetspot could mean a world of difference!
Threw a variety of music at it and it handled them with aplomb, from Dance/House tracks (which I thought would find it wanting due to the initial lack of bass response), to rock songs, jazz tracks and various vocal-laden and acoustic-heavy tracks. All were dispensed with finesse and control. Please note that this is still very early yet in the burn-in period. I need to be careful of gushing too much about the Mylarone, but I have a pair of Creative EP630s I bought for 'all-round-plug-n-play' use and I am totally convinced the Crossroads will assume that mantle with ease. It even manages to make my KSC75s sound slightly detached, but perhaps thats more to do with the greater intimacy of the Crossroads' IEM form-factor. This is all relative btw; I'm still very happy with the other two phones and I doubt anyone, bar the avid audiophile, would find fault with them for what they are. The Crossroads are just better all round! Are there better headphones out there? Of course there are. But at RM100, you'd be stupid not to pick a pair up. At RM130, it would be a missed opportunity if you ignored them. ps. Er, what happened? I thought the ear-tips were supposed to be black? No biggie. pps. They passed the 'Prodigy - Breathe' test lol! Just got my mylarone this morning, only have chance to listen a few songs after my lunch. Anyway, I am really impressed with the sound. Can't do a full scale review yet as I don't think I am good enough to do a proper writeup on that.
Anyway, prior to this, I already own sony's MDR-EX71, Ety ER4P and recently Senn's CX300. I would say at least for now (before burning in), performance of mylarone is close to Ety, if both unamped. I don't really like the sound characteristic of CX300. Will try it with amp and see how is it. |

If the SQ is close to ER4 as commented, it's definately a very worthy IEM to get... This post has been edited by walabies: Mar 6 2007, 11:01 PM |

I own a few cans by Senn, feel that their IEM is rather unimpressive, at least not of my taste. |

What amp you did with ER4P?I still prefer ER4P actually, but the price is 8x of MylarOne (I bought my Er4p <rm900), so, it's hard to compare. I own a few cans by Senn, feel that their IEM is rather unimpressive, at least not of my taste. I still couldnt find a suitable one for mylarOne, still looking for it. And I havent try Crossroad 2+mylarOne, din have time for it (and that's your stuff ma, I just test got sound or not). That's why I mentioned mylarOne has less amping capability compare to IM716 (which urgently needs one |
