Really that much difference ah? 16.5% annualized for the past 5 years still cannot beat the benchmark? That's kinda ridiculous.FundSuperMart v17 (FSM) MY : Online UT Platform, UT DIY : Babystep to Investing :D

Manulife MY make a bad choice. S&P500 is not an easy benchmark to beat. There are only few who are able to beat it consistently (over 5 years every single year). (I think about max 10) Indeed, the target fund returns not good. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&es...-k6OXyvayEEM-dAIt's really shocking how much different the S&P annualized returns are for 5 and 10 year annualized (and rolling from the beginning). Really makes it clear to see that it's pointless to maintain your portfolio during a recession. EDIT: Btw this is a good read guys. Keep a lookout for signs of doom and have contingency plans in mind. If you look at the last 2 major financial crisis in the US, the market overshoots at the last moment then crashes down. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/stock-ral...ycle-2017-02-03 This post has been edited by contestchris: Feb 4 2017, 05:06 PM |

QUOTE(contestchris @ Feb 4 2017, 12:26 PM) Lol man that wasn't even 2 weeks after I started investing and was a reaction to that one bad day. Jan 12 is closer to a month ago than it is to two weeks ago. bro - just sharing an idea ya, especially for a new investor.Anyways whatever. Like I said never take anyone word for it. Especially don't take the word of somebody who just start to invest lah. investing Vs trading very different methodologies, $ / risk management & average time of holding some fellows (including my mum best to be clear with what one is doing when buying/selling and follow one's process. just a thought - no absolute right / wrong yar |

QUOTE(yklooi @ Feb 4 2017, 07:09 PM) while waiting for value added assistance.... Thanks for sharing it! It seem that the excel marco just doesn't work on mac. (It worked on windows) I attached a file....it is in Excel Windows not sure if it can be used for MAC instead of manually updating individual NAVs, I am using this file to auto update my portfolio NAVs from FSM... just key in the parameter, press CTL+U to update, then copy and PASTE (Value) into your portfolio excel file try it ?? QUOTE(skynode @ Feb 4 2017, 07:27 PM) I think you're trying to click on "Command + U" (Which is underline), what yklooi mean was "Control + U". However, I tried and it just showing Active X error again. I did some read up and it seem like the marco in excel doesn't support in mac. Actually it is from the Smart Investor Feb edition. They attended the Unit Trust Investment Fair 2017. More snapshot from me. Attached thumbnail(s) |

The macro uses Windows-specific functionality to download the contents on FSM's page; that's why it will give you an ActiveX error. I can rewrite it to work for Mac OS X but I will have to get access to a Mac for testing. Additionally, the Mac code will not run on Windows. Not sure if this a mac problem. |
