Really that much difference ah? 16.5% annualized for the past 5 years still cannot beat the benchmark? That's kinda ridiculous.

Yes. Manulife MY make a bad choice. S&P500 is not an easy benchmark to beat. There are only few who are able to beat it consistently (over 5 years every single year). (I think about max 10 funds in the world)

Indeed, the target fund returns not good. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&es...-k6OXyvayEEM-dA

It's really shocking how much different the S&P annualized returns are for 5 and 10 year annualized (and rolling from the beginning). Really makes it clear to see that it's pointless to maintain your portfolio during a recession.

EDIT: Btw this is a good read guys. Keep a lookout for signs of doom and have contingency plans in mind. If you look at the last 2 major financial crisis in the US, the market overshoots at the last moment then crashes down. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/stock-ral...ycle-2017-02-03

Fore seen US manulift and US fund wont be perform well with current trump direction..wait for Q3/Q4 17 maybe we will see a better reward...

If trump wont choose to co with china then india will be another choice, russia as well...TABRIC any one ??

Some of msia big cap still

Lol man that wasn't even 2 weeks after I started investing and was a reaction to that one bad day. Jan 12 is closer to a month ago than it is to two weeks ago.

Anyways whatever. Like I said never take anyone word for it. Especially don't take the word of somebody who just start to invest lah.

bro - just sharing an idea ya, especially for a new investor.
investing Vs trading

very different methodologies, $ / risk management & average time of holding
some fellows (including my mum tongue.gif ), say they are traders but when kaka hits the fan, they hold onto a trade & say it's for long term heheh

best to be clear with what one is doing when buying/selling and follow one's process.

just a thought - no absolute right / wrong yar notworthy.gif

I also had the same issue, PolarBearz calculator showing ActiveX error when updating fund price. The only thing I could do is to update each latest fund price manually. rclxub.gif

Not sure if this a mac problem. doh.gif

while waiting for value added assistance....
I attached a file....it is in Excel Windows
not sure if it can be used for MAC

instead of manually updating individual NAVs, I am using this file to auto update my portfolio NAVs from FSM...
just key in the parameter, press CTL+U to update,
then copy and PASTE (Value) into your portfolio excel file

try it ??

CTL + U = Underline, isn't it? It's the shortcut key for underline.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're trying to click on "Command + U" (Which is underline), what yklooi mean was "Control + U". However, I tried and it just showing Active X error again. I did some read up and it seem like the marco in excel doesn't support in mac. rclxub.gif Maybe will just have to use windows for this. (Excel from yklooi worked on windows)

Self created based on my indepth analysis of the MPT, by looking at the Sharpe ratio, alpha, beta and SD of the funds compared to its peers and benchmark for the past 5 years....

Wait that sounds so wrong. Actually it is from the Smart Investor Feb edition. They attended the Unit Trust Investment Fair 2017. smile.gif

More snapshot from me.

The macro uses Windows-specific functionality to download the contents on FSM's page; that's why it will give you an ActiveX error. I can rewrite it to work for Mac OS X but I will have to get access to a Mac for testing. Additionally, the Mac code will not run on Windows.

if he can managed to do a MAC macro without a MAC in hand....that would be great.
