FOR MAXIS ONE CLUB MEMBER !!!

just done my FD @ HONG LEONG BANK FOR 4.2% FOR 6 MONTH

you have to go ask the counter staff to check w the manager , most of the staff unaware since this one is for the MAXIS ONE club member till 31/12/2016

have to place it over the counter ( u cant do it online )  so please remind the staff to check w their manager if not they will just say no promo like this
*
I went to KL HLB Jalan Perak (HQ ?), mention FD Maxis One Club ... the CS already know it.
It requires branch FD account, and not online or e-FD, the one where you do the FPX 4.15% earlier.

It it good to clear the house loan or keep in FD?
House loan interest like 4.4%
FD like 4.2% promotion FD
*
I hope you have a full/semi flexi house loan account. Dump all your excess cash/FD into it to reduce interest. Yet at the same time, the flexi account has liquidity to withdraw using ATM/cheque/online transfer.

If you really have no use for the FD and have other cash or liquidity, then by all means settle the house loan.

Thanks for all the above info, here's my update today:
- Withdraw FD at 12-1pm
- RENTAS RM5 without GST
- 2:10pm money is in MBB icon_rolleyes.gif

HLB Merdeka rate 4.2% is low. Waiting for the 7-7 digital. There is no UOB or Ambank nearby sad.gif and I prefer online banking if possible.

Bank Islam 2 years 4.65% p.a. effective rate is over by end June.

BoC opening hours 9:30am-4pm Mon-Fri only sad.gif Not convenient for me to go during working hours / lunch.

Nearby I got RHB bank only, which I open & close last 1-2 years for the FD.

What is the rate?

I just walk down to open an account first. They verbally answer FD OTC promo supposedly end 30 June, now extended to end Sep.
15 months 4.38% minimum 10k?

Plan to park half here and half wait for HLB.

Edit: RHB Bank

So now best is

UOB 4.38% Ampang Branch
RHB 4.38% Any Branch (15 Months)
Ambank 4.4% Any Branch
*
Just back from RHB branch, already done OTC FD as above, 4.38% 15 months.

From info above, seems HLB eFD (digital 7-7) 4.37% is for 3 months only, not attractive.

Therefore, going to park the remaining into RHB in coming days.
icon_rolleyes.gif

Note: all other OTC FD banks not convenient for me, unless anyone can recommend any other online eFD.

hi all, need some guidance wrt maybank online fd.

1) what is uplift?

2) how to cancel / terminate a fd before due date in system?
*
MBB M2u, for eFD, it's placement or uplift. So your instinct is correct, select uplift, choose conventional/islamic, then select your cert to uplift, choose account, TAC, done.

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jul 26 2018, 10:46 AM)
If you bring cheque they won't issue you the cert until the cheque clears so you have to come back 2-3 working days later. So better you rentas across. Of course that might mean you need a savings account with them first.... If I had to do it again I would find a Bank Islam which is near to my source-of-fund bank (e.g. Maybank is next to it in KL Sentral I think), go to Bank Islam and inform them I want to rentas, open the savings account, walk over to maybank to do the rentas, come back to get the FD cert.

For me I had to come back 1 week later for my FD cert. And they won't open the FD for you without your signature in front of them, so effectively I lost about 4-5 days interest. Still worth it for the higher interest rate, but pissed me off. They did give me some mug and book as apology at least.
*
My case Bank Islam Kinrara branch to open new account. I've prepared two options, IFT from two banks into BI, or write cheque. I asked if use cheque how ? CS answer will put today's date. So I wrote a cheque.

Filled up forms to open account with RM20 and FD forms. Collect the cert, etc. all done within 1 hour. Only need to pay for parking + petrol.

ohya, I got the red hardcover book only.

QUOTE(spreeeee @ Aug 8 2018, 05:50 PM)
if i deposited 5k for 7mths, how much total profits i will gain?

e-FD / e-CMDi Tenure
7 months 4.10% p.a.

https://www.rhbgroup.com/438/index.html?utm...20More%20Button

also, what is the difference between non-islamic and islamic in terms of profits earning?

https://www.rhbgroup.com/~/media/files/mala...rhb-now/pdf/G07
*
Rough count will be:
7/12 months x 4.10% x 5k
= RM119.58 +/- depending on the number of days in the 7 calendar months.

Simply put, for layman like us who just aim for % , there is no difference.
Harder put mega_shok.gif islamic banking cannot use the term "interest" , hence they treat it as commodity and return you the "profit"

so the profits considered good?

so islamic or no, there is no hidden charges or consequences/difficulties when come to withdrawal?
*
Profit good or not depends on individual preference, not just only on % alone:
- which bank - some only likes PBB, so only wants islamic bankng, etc.
- location - ease of access
- duration / term - how long you want to lock in for 1/3/12/60 months ?
- special reasons such as wealth adviser, premier banking, etc.

For early withdrawal, each bank, including normal vs islamic, are different and T&C may change from time to time. Do a thorough check on the specific FD you want.
Or mitigate risk by putting some funds in short term 1-3 months and some in longer 12 months.

Today I verified Bank Islam effective rate @ 4.65% p.a. for 2 years, minimum 50k ... still available. I guess the take up rate is not that great, over 6 months, I notice only about ~15x FD certs issued from the branch I visited. How I know ? Look at the running serial number laugh.gif

QUOTE(nbi @ Oct 8 2018, 04:39 PM)
might consider this 4.65%, so far, it's the highest fd now. right?
*
Nope. BR 4.85% negotiated rate 5 years from some bro/sis here, no other strings attached, just pure FD. Read earlier few pages. I heard minimum 500k or higher, not my league bye.gif

QUOTE(ikanbilis @ Oct 8 2018, 04:58 PM)
2 years is rather long lock up period. Most people prefer to put FD 12 months only
*
Depends on individuals, some have other investments (let's not divert from FD here), some have long term FD, some have short term FD. I also have 1 month, 3 months, and those 6-15 months range types. Currently (today), 12 months FD ranges from 4.00-4.3? only, which I think is quite low to earlier/mid of this year, around 4.3-4.5, so 4.65 is one of a good option to me.

Quick question, a bit confused with several earlier pages CIMD 4.4 vs 4.5 vs premier banking, so is the CIMB eFD 4.5% 6 months minimum 10k (non premier) still available ?
