One small FDs mature recently, and another in one month time. Plan to pump into EPF.

One big chunk is going to mature in Oct/Nov. Not sure what to do yet.

Lucky already lock in another big chunk into BI 2 years 4.65% earlier

I have received promo efd SMS from HLB. But unwilling to lock in the FD for 18 months. All fellow members, will you lock in  your money for tenure less than 1 yr or more than 1 yr ?
*
It depends on different individual income, expenses, loans, commitments, etc. In general, I would say spread it out. e.g. if I have 100k, maybe 50k I am open to lock in 12-24 months. 10k short term 1-3 months for emergency as well. The rest 40k maybe 6-12 months or combine into above 50k.

the FPX limit is not based on the instant transfer 50k limit. I have already checked and confirmed with CIMB. I am speaking from real life experience
*
If you have MBB, then IFT 50k to MBB, then FPX 30k + 20k from MBB to HLB
At the same time, FPX another 30k from CIMB into HLB
Daily limit max

is that it is applicable for multiple times of apply e-FD in hongleong bank due to it is limitation to transfer FPX from other bank to hong leong bank.
*
You can apply multiple times of 30k per FPX for 3.90%
If you use Maybank, you can do multiple 30k per day.

has anyone experience before, upon your FD maturity, banks refuse to let you withdraw your money out? Heard stories like that before...

mbsb 4.25% is tempting but I don't have much confidence putting my money into a bank I barely heard of for 6 months.
*
Short answer, never. Banks always let me withdraw/transfer for my FD. Unless there are other conditions such as joint-account FD or some other valid reasons. Those that you heard could be >30+ years ago when koperasi banks are giving 8-10% interest rate before they go bust. Since then, our banking regulations has tighten up and matured. For the past 20 years, never hear or encounter cannot withdraw money from FD/bank.

Not review but just an overview (what are the interest rates for 12 mths from various banks).
Thanks!
*
Overview not as good as last year, pure FD highest 3.9x
Combo FD + SA = 4.25 as stated above.
Just read the last 2 pages, it's the latest rate already, nothing spectacular or interesting for now.

QUOTE(jxwang @ Jan 30 2020, 04:37 PM)
I'm trying to open a FD via Hong Leong's eConnect for the 3.75% rate, however the limit on online transaction via FPX per day for retail is only RM30,000.

My question is, can I create an initial placement of RM30,000 and then deposit more funds into that account on the following days for the 3.75% interest rate? Or only the initial RM30,000 is eligible for the 3.75% interest rate?

Went to my nearest branch today for clarification but the staff there like blur blur, said they can't help me and ask me to settle everything via eConnect/online banking  blink.gif
*
First, goto HLB to open e-FD account only. Remember to activate the ID/6-digit.

Then, login HL online and start FPX from various banks. Most (if not all) only allow 1x 30k FPX per day. However, MBB can do "unlimited" 30k per FPX where some forummers have done a total of few hundred thousands RM in a single day (multiple 30k FPX)

As long as promotion still valid, you are eligible for multiple promo rate, which is 3.75% now.

https://www.hlb.com.my/content/dam/hlb/my/d...romo-tnc-en.pdf

No. 8. Each New Customer is only entitled toONE (1) eFD / eFD-i placement with the Promotional eFD / eFD-i Rate of 3.75% p.a. under this Promotion.

Already got the account, stopped on pressing the submit button cause worried if only my first RM30,000 will have the promo rate and the rest 3.60%  sad.gif
*
If it is one entitlement, then yes, this offer happened before in HLB FD.

You can check the promo rate in the application page.
Promo = yes
duration = 6 mths
rate % = will show here

Then you will know if your second application still has the promo rate or not before you goto the FPX page. This is unlike MBB GiA which is totally unknown until the next day.

QUOTE(ang1222 @ Apr 5 2020, 02:39 PM)
Just put one 10k on 3rd april, and realised that maturity is on 5th April 2021.
Checked the FAQ and it stated that if maturity falls on weekend, it will be paid next working day.
So it means we wont be getting 2 days interest right ?
*
...
QUOTE(ang1222 @ Apr 5 2020, 10:25 PM)
Maturity on 5th. By right should be 3rd but it is weekend.
But i think interest still based on 365 days. not 367 days. any sifu can confirm ?
*
Check what is stated in your FD/eFD, it should show the maturity date, which is 5-Apr-2021

3-Apr-2020 - 5-Apr-2021 = 367 days, no leap year.
3.5%

Based on my excel calculation, you will get a total of RM351.92 for 367 days
If 365 days (12 months), you will get exactly RM350.00

QUOTE(key91 @ Apr 6 2020, 03:50 AM)
Wonder if AmBank’s calculation will straight take our principal amount times 3.5%; or

Calculate based on no of days
- 3 Apr - 31 Dec 2020 - 272/366 x 3.5%
- 1 Jan -  3 April 2021 - 93/365 x 3.5%
*
Don't take my word, but based on my own tracking, nowadays bank FD calculate based on days, just 3-Apr-2021 minus 3-Apr-2020, sometimes may need to add leap year or not.

Not sure anyone posted recently. HLB eFD <- FPX <- MBB has limit 50k/day already. Although each FPX is limited to 30k.
e.g. FPX two times 30k + 30k = 2nd 30k fail.
FPX 30k + 20k = ok
hmm.gif
Previously can do like 30k + 30k + 30k + ...

MBB has FPX limit of 50k/day?
Can guide where to set it to 50k/day?
*
No need set, it's by default

QUOTE
Is there a limit to the number of transactions or amount I can make in a day?
The minimum limit per transaction is RM1.00 and maximum amount is limited up to RM30,000* per transaction.

The maximum amount per day is RM50,000*.

*The above transaction value limit, however is subject to the customer's individual Internet Banking limit with the bank, whichever is lower.

Thanks. Hopefully it will just take 1-2 hours for me tomorrow. The bank close at 3pm. Else Friday is a public Holiday, Monday only can make placement.

Was initially confident that I can renew at promo rate bt when I whatsapp the branch manager today, he said already transferred to another branch  biggrin.gif
*
BI charged me RM2, not sure which bank you will go and how much is the transfer free.

Try go as early as possible, there is a cut-off time for RENTAS. I was caught up with WFH and can only go out during lunch time on that day. Also, since then, MCO tighten up already and more roadblocks, I don't think I can even reach BI anymore for now sweat.gif but don't need to go until Sep/Oct
