folks, do any1 of you see 4.20% for 12 month in CIMB's FD/FRIA-i?
I saw  someone sharing in facebook saying that there is a promotion of 4.20% 12months for CIMB's FD/FRIA-i, but i couldn't see it, the highest is only 3.98% 8 months
*
CIMB 4.2% is Singapore FD

8 months FD , highest is RHB @ 4.08%

2% of the 6.15% require UT purchase. If exclude that, it's 4.15% nett.

and have not considered the risk of losing $ on UT

If going for CIMB, would suggest go for the eFD 4.2% for 12 months instead of 4.3%(TIA) since there is a possibility that TIA didn't honor the rates.
Also, it's easier for the eFD as CIMB TIA requires OTC
*
TIA are not FD !! Whatever rates published are just forecast/prediction (based on their investment performance)

FD rates are guaranteed

With the OPR rates increments seems to head for hiatus, perhaps it's better to take a longer term FD with higher rates now.
*
Don't need to wait too long, by 3rd quarter FD rate should be around 4.8% or more

QUOTE(BWassup @ Feb 10 2023, 05:52 PM)
Went to Ambank Bangsar Baru today to enquire about the 12 month FD Promo @ 4.3%. For Signature banking customers and fresh funds only.

The counter staff informed me that whilst previously they allowed funding of our CASA via RENTAS, they now need HQ approval if funds come in via RENTAS (I don't know what they need to check). Should be quite fast, but could be delayed if approver is not available. Forgot to ask if online transfer is acceptable.

If we fund with Cashier Order, the FD can be done immediately, with Advice of Deposit issued.

Not only will that involve more work for us to get the CO and pay RM5 charge, but if we bank in CO, presumably we would not be able to withdraw the RM10k extra that AmBank requires us to show in our CASA as a condition to be given the special rate.

Think AmBank is making their FD promo overly complicated. Not to mention their love of bundling FD with CASA. And the number of CASA they have is way too many, and confusing sad.gif

Anyone told the same thing by AmBank?
*
If cannot withdraw the $10,000 in CASA then the effective rate will be very low (if the FD amount is low)

Public Bank gave notice that their bank branches stopping Rentas service. You guys get same info also?

Not quite sure what this means for our FD placements - no to sending out for sure, but what about sending in money?

Any info on what happens then on Public Bank online transfers or all maintained at present Maximum Daily Transfer Limits?

If no increase, hope that Public Bank branches can do OTC transfers out for bigger amounts either in one transfer or with multiple transfers to enable things to do be settled quickly and conveniently on same day. Anybody knows how it is going to work?
*
This is a red flag for me especially with the recent US big bank (SVB) collapsed. I guess Public Bank wants to prevent a run on their banks like SVB and stop all immediate transfer out

Oops different thing? Put so many years I dunno what is that. Tot the same

Very different

TIA is investment linked deposit and NOT Fixed Deposit. The interest are projections and not guaranteed

Worse is PB

Almost lower 1% difference vs others banks
*
PB have very large pool of ah pek businessman with lots of cash that are not updated with FD rates of other banks.

Some even die die will not place 4.5% at Bank Islam, Mualamat or Rakyat because they think it's not safe as it's not run by Chinese.. lol

if opr go down, malaysia currency vs usd will be worse. we can see USD1=RM5 if they go down

That is actually good news for those that put US$ deposit at 5% and when Ringgit drop, FD mature with higher than 5%

Just curious, would anyone put interest upon maturity (3.9%) or opt for monthly interest (3.85%) for a big FD amount?

Anyone tried placing e-fd via ftp, the "fresh fund" transferring from GX bank?  I tried maybank, but no GX bank in their selection list.

I was in Guilin and saw GX Bank (Guangxi Bank). I wonder if Malaysia GX bank have any connections with China GX bank or have China investor?
