FD cert to uplift should be retained. It serves it purpose as an extra layer of protection.

And need physical cert if taking a loan against the FD as security

I remember when SCB stopped issuing FD certificates some 35 odd years ago, they printed a fancy deposit receipt so that the old grandmothers would think they had a FD certificate. Some members of the older generation also had concerns transitioning from passbook savings to statement savings.

There are no FD certificates in the world of eFD but one should still use a eFD as security for a loan. All the bank needs to do is earmark the FD.
*
Good point on eFD.

When I asked for a small credit card limit increase from Maybank some 6 years ago, they still insisted that I go to their HQ to have the physical FD created.

I presume the legal framework in now in place for banks to take eFD as security.

Keen on BR 24 mth 4.8%. If the branches in Bangsar and PJ State will offer it! Anyone successfully did it in Klang Valley branches?

Presume a savings account is required for crediting of interim interest. Can open on the spot, or needs time to approve?

Can place deposit with cheque/Banker's cheque?

Any extra documents required apart from IC, like proof of address, etc?

Sorry if the above questions already answered previously, as there have been many posts on and off over a long period of time.

Thank you

My friend got it at BR Section 14 branch (Near Jaya Shopping Centre).

But they made it difficult, first told him it is for loyal customers only, then need to get HQ approval and then also need a few hundred thousands. You can try if you want.

I went to Glo Damansara too, seems they have some branch limit.
*
Agree that they are not keen to "overpay". I asked at BR Bangsar yesterday. The manager said they had recently obtained HQ approval for RM700k and RM1million deposits, and unlikely to be approved for "small" amounts such as RM150k.

Not many depositors can fulfil this requirement one shot, and also may not want to plonk so much money with a single bank. For RM1m I think you can just call all the banks and negotiate for the period that you desire.

did you speak to the branch manager himself? If not, may I know the name of the person you spoke to? I would like to try my luck negotiating with him/her also.

Does anyone know if they 'interrogate' when opening FD accs like Bank Islam?  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Yes I did. Her name is Puan Ayu.

All the best, and do let us know how it went tongue.gif

This is how they choose to run their business so...

Anyway, some of the BR branch the customer service quite bad: I went to Kelana Jaya and PJ State branch last week, they told me the branch Manager not in and told me to come back this week - they did not even bother to take my contact or give contact of the Branch Manager.

I also got the feeling they weren't even keen to entertain me  dry.gif

The Bangsar branch has a female Polis Bantuan at the reception counter. Unique? biggrin.gif

Seriously, now those who did not take 4.8 when they can are really fools.

Hai. After putting so much in 4.5 . The next highest is 4.3 alliance bank for me. Unless you can recommend something similar where I dun have to put in 1 million dollars.

I think I will have to consider short term like this. I really hope we can get 4.5 soon.

Anyway. Do you think I should put in versa cash at the moment. I really dun feel like putting it less then say 4.3
*
Don't la call almost all of us fools la tongue.gif.

Can't really say it was wrong for people to wait in expectation of rates rising. All, or almost all analysts had expected BNM to raise rates.
Decisions will always be perfect with hindsight.

And not everyone wants to place long term, individual requirements vary.

Win some, lose some.

Went to Ambank Bangsar Baru today to enquire about the 12 month FD Promo @ 4.3%. For Signature banking customers and fresh funds only.

The counter staff informed me that whilst previously they allowed funding of our CASA via RENTAS, they now need HQ approval if funds come in via RENTAS (I don't know what they need to check). Should be quite fast, but could be delayed if approver is not available. Forgot to ask if online transfer is acceptable.

If we fund with Cashier Order, the FD can be done immediately, with Advice of Deposit issued.

Not only will that involve more work for us to get the CO and pay RM5 charge, but if we bank in CO, presumably we would not be able to withdraw the RM10k extra that AmBank requires us to show in our CASA as a condition to be given the special rate.

Think AmBank is making their FD promo overly complicated. Not to mention their love of bundling FD with CASA. And the number of CASA they have is way too many, and confusing sad.gif

Anyone told the same thing by AmBank?

If cannot withdraw the $10,000 in CASA then the effective rate will be very low (if the FD amount is low)

Can withdraw, as mentioned by others here, just that if it is part of the deposit cheque, then have to wait for clearance

Yes, it can't be withdraw same day, but will be able to next day. Just done that yesterday or day before.

Good thing is they allow me to get the 4.3% even though I have falled below the 200k AUM currently. My new FD tops up over it and they let me to have this rate.

Last time Affin, does not allowed. Die die must  have existing AUM fulfilled before can give me Priority rates.
*
IC. So we need to have AUM of RM200k to get the 4.3% rate, either before or after the new placement, even if our status is still Signature in the system? Some banks don't change the status even if our AUM has fallen below their minimum.

Notwithstanding that, what if he meets the AUM, will he be asked to do the same too?

Until the bank can produce a black and white T&C that the 10k CASA can only be withdrawn the next day, it is all up to the whim and fancy of the specific branch. I challenged this few years ago and the T&C only states placement and no mention of earmarked or duration. And the branch could not produce their own set of T&C. So that is why I been saying can withdraw on the same day.
*
Means they have system to monitor the special rates given and and whether 10k condition is met. Guess branch managers have to enforce it, otherwise they will get queried by HQ

As I said before, imo, AmBank is unnecessarily complicating matters, creating work for their staff to monitor compliance, and losing goodwill along the way. And they can't explain why there is such a "rule" either.
