QUOTE(Cookie101 @ Sep 22 2020, 09:34 PM) If you want to transfer above 50k to third party over the counter, they are required to prepare report hence they told you to write those letter etc. But different banks has different approach. Generally yes- They need to know why you’re transferring above 30k reportable thresholds. If transfer large sum from Bank A to Bank B with the account holder name is the same person at OTC, does such letter still needed?Best if you transfer 50k via instant transfer and the rest to your own name for placement. Otherwise get a cashier order. Most banks will normally honour the interest of cheque on the same day placement, if that’s your concern. |

QUOTE(cheesyman @ Sep 23 2020, 09:24 AM) I hope the bank will update the EFD rate because the above EFD rate was the same as last week's promo...see my earlier post dated 17 Sept below, eFD no need fresh fund.but effective yesterday, new promo out with 5 months = 2.35% and 9/12 months = 2.38%. make more sense to pay a visit to the bank and place OTC. The OTC promo that you shared earlier need fresh fund. If one has a lot of time to spare, of course going to bank will be beneficial. But with COVID-19 and long queue due to SOP, one may need to take leave in order to pay a visit to the branch especially for those who're still under employment. |

August's CPI within expectation, further OPR cut unlikely
KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): The 1.4% year-on-year decline in Malaysia's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August 2020 — the sixth consecutive month of contraction since March this year — was within analyst's expectation due to the lower retail fuel prices compared to a year ago. Despite the negative inflation rate, Peck believes Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) will maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at the current level of 1.75% for the rest of the year. "Excluding the fuel prices, inflation is still growing, rising 0.2% in August 2020 compared to July 2020. "Furthermore, with economic conditions gradually improving after the easing of lockdowns and subsequently likely to pick up pace in 2021, we think BNM is done with the OPR cut," he told Bernama. https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/augu...pr-cut-unlikely |

QUOTE(gsem984 @ Sep 30 2020, 10:30 AM) Hi anyone heard of eastspring management investment fund? My gf told me it is like a fd which gives u 2.9%. Better any bank fd? Eastspring Investment has a lot of funds.Do you have specific fund name? https://www.eastspring.com/my/funds-and-solutions/all-funds Anyhow, since it's unit trust, there's risk associated to investment even though for unit trust. |

QUOTE(joeblow @ Sep 30 2020, 01:05 PM) To add on, I have bought similar close ended bond fund before. As pointed out return not guaranteed, at the end of the period of 3 to 5 years, you might get a surprise when the capital return is less than original amount due to some failed investments etc. Also need to wait for several weeks without interest for the fund to credit back to account. So if you go for such UT, make sure the writing is clear on guaranteed return pls guaranteed capital return. Oh if you can find such UT, please share it here. Only bad thing is you have to hold to maturity. Principal guaranteed is most likely to be offered by most of the fund managers/wealth product managers.I'm highly doubt so for guaranteed return. |
