Some banks have Basic SA account which is free. Someone posted that actually all Banks suppose to provide this as required by Bank Negara but they diam diam don't tell customer this option. For example, my CIMB SA Basic no fees.

All must provide, you should threaten AmBank, you will be surprised they will give you a zero fees account before you know it all of a sudden.

my am bank last few month i open with debit card, the satff say non fee.
cimb just last month open with debit card, also being informed non fee.
but pb with debit card, charge me fee.
HSBC also charge

what i worry and sad the most is when OPR increased... bank loan interest increase but FD remain the same.. noted my loan statement.. every mth extra few hundred is interest portion...

lets say i have placed MBB FD 3.65% for 5months month ago, now is it worth to withdraw it and place it on the 4% FD?

My mum Hong Leong efd matured yesterday. She wants to place to AmBank. I have AmBank account. So, I fpx from her Hong Leong Bank. Fund in my mum account being deducted.

The transaction pending for verification and I call  Ambank. The officer perform checking by sending a notification to my AmBank app for me to authorise. The transaction is sent out from contact center without any amount. Authorization successful and nothing wrong in my account but the officer said need to wait for Hong Leong side.

I got notification that the efd transaction is failed.

Anyone know the reason?

I have had a truesaver account for a while. I just use it as a transactional account, so meeting the various requirements for bonus interest isn't a hassle. Yup, need to deposit 3k monthly to earn additional 1.15% on top of the basic 0.75%. Then if retail spend or pay at least 3 bills totaling at least 1k for both together, get an extra 0.6%. Grand total interest of 2.5% as you mentioned earlier. :thumbsup:

It's not incremental. Can spend the 3k to achieve your spending goal. Can also transfer out to another bank. Can also reduce your month end balance from month to month. As long as they can see one credit of > 3k during the month!

Other banks having such schemes also allow transfer out. Dunno why they have this requirement in the first place. Maybe it is meant to induce people to bank in their salaries monthly and retain their banking loyalty?

Care to share which Ambank branch in Penang? Hope still can make it on Monday

Btw, does the Gelugor branch accept cheque for the account opening? Else need to open account, then transfer the fund in through Rentas? I have bad experience my current bank only allows max online transfer of 50k
