even after each MPC meeting, nobody knows exactly how each bank reacts to it.

FD rate doesnt rely on OPR solely and exclusively, there are other combination factors too.

It depends on people. I won't bother too much on BR no PIDM protection provided the FD rate is good. It is up to u if u think u must have PIDM protection for the FD. 

Yes agree, but generally OPR changes do influence the rate too right ? for me 18 months could be too long.. I want to have OCBC, but sadly there is no branch here.. with BR is giving lousy rate.. (3.8% for 12M) impossible i put it there.. at my location the most decent so far is HLBB / UOB 12M at 4.3%

U still have FD with BR? Mine is ending next month. No more Xclusive member with them.

Try AmBank 4.35% 12mth but need to ask for approval first. 

For the first time in 5 yrs, no hampers from BR.    Got one instead from Muamalat. New love but likely to be temporary one. 

My next target will be OCBC 12 mth 4.38%. Why don't u try AmBank for 4.35%. As I said earlier, get RM or BM to ask for approval, min 50k.

OCBC will not give u nego for FD promo, even for 1 mil sum ! Banks like UOB, OCBC etc, not easy to nego above FD promo rate ! Esp if they mention need fresh fund ! At times they allow top up to enjoy FD promo, but no nego rate ! 
See above ! BR can nego with 100k, but now u will not get any rate close to 4.38% for 12 mths. 

Any put Affinity bank to get the 5.18%?

May I know if I choose yes for auto-renewal, what would be the FD rate upon renewal?

I got a very pleasant surprise from OCBC bank on Friday.

1. They offered my premier banking status with just RM 200k instead of the usual RM 300k since I was a customer with them before (I think)

2. Being a premier customer, I am eligible for 4.5% 12 months FD promo with option  monthly crediting of interest!

However, please contact your respective branches as the RM said as far as they know, this promo is only available in Damansara Heights & HQ for Klang Valley area.

Yes, for OCBC premier banking customer of selected branches, have to confirm with your own RM.
