Really don't understand AmBank...at same time offer 4.3% 12mths no BS FD OTC...only need 200k AUM. While at same time play CASA up to RM1 mil only 4.2%....

Yeah Ambank recently tried hard to gather cash
this new 11 month 4.5% T&C  the manager also dont know yet
Starts in April so still early
So what can you you do other  than skip that FD?

366 days paid 365, at most also lose only 1 D interest , ~RM100+ at end of 1 yr
what do you mean get lesser and lesser for each day??
interest getting lesser and lesser each day compounding?
if rate is 0.2% extra
earn extra RM2000 more than cover
why bother about losing RM100?

For old people even if EPF gives you a higher you will still use commercial banks 🤦‍♀️

Because it more convenient and highly liquid unlike EPF you have to wait for withdrawals and if not branch is not accessible more so for old ppl like you

Went to MBSB today to check if the above rates still valid on 2/5 (yes, they are). Saja asked whether got 18 month promo rate, not expecting anything. The manager said no promo rate for 18 months, but she could ask HQ what special rate they can approve, based on my anticipated placement amount. Also asked her to seek approval for monthly profit payment (Note: the 3 to 15 month promo rates pay profit only at maturity). I showed her our LYF member's recent FD for 16 months @ 4.40% (Thanks Guy3288 for sharing the info )

15 minutes later, HQ approved 4.40% for 18 months, with monthly profit payment

** But on condition that the savings account needs to be funded and the FD placement made by 2/5, in view of BNM policy decision on 3/5 **

Anyone keen to do placement for 18 months can enquire with your local MBSB branch. Basically need to kowtim everything on 2/5 itself.

My account is with PJ Central. They are friendly and will call the people in charge for special rate upon request, for placement periods apart from the periods with published promotion rates. But probably need to go there in person as the general line almost never can get through. Free parking is usually available outside the building, they have about 8 reserved lots.

Today I made placement for 18 months (4.40%) and 24 months (4.45%).

Tomorrow may be a different story after OPR decision.

Quite a stupid practice - entire bank is close for Fridays prayers for two hours. This mean it is not meant to serve non-Muslim customers 🤣

I straight do one 3.8% for 5 years at MBSB two months back. Rates will definitely go down slowly.
