QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ May 22 2019, 05:38 PM) Yes, and its not easy to open an account there if you do not have a work permit or an address there. Moreover, SG fds are one of the lowest in the region. Are you joking? The strongest currency in the region certainly has the lowest interest rate.Reminds me about that guy who recommended to go for Indo FD with 6% some months before. But if the currency loses 10%, your 6% become -4% interest rate compared to +2%! |

So many of my FDs mature in the next weeks (the 6m and 12m at the same time), looks like I need to open ANOTHER bank account to get at least more than 4%. Four accounts still not enough

QUOTE(BartS @ Jun 19 2019, 11:01 PM) If you have a priority/preferred relationship manager, this is quite normal. I am not even calling them, I whatsapp to prepare FD placement or uplift Last time a FD matured and I was overseas, in this way could uplift and sign the documents two weeks later. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 29 2019, 10:16 AM) Using 12m as an example, what is lowest rate that you guys can accept? If the OPR is cut again, it might dip below 3.7% range. If we go in the area of 3.5% i will move most of my RM into other currencies. Sorry, our currency is by no means strong enough for such a low interest rate. Problem is that after some FD matured I have already 150k in the 360 account. So 50k useless. Have to take action now, but not really in mood to open another bank account. Will talk to Bank Rakyat first, if no good news from OCBC, CIMB and AmBank in the next days.

QUOTE(chicaman @ Jul 1 2019, 06:01 PM) Just a curious queston, if someone has 500k to 1million cash, want to put in FD No. The banks don´t care about how much money you want to put in FD. If you buy 500k to 1 mil investment products like unit trust or insurance from them, they will be more generous with the FD rate.Do you think there will be a special rate? |

QUOTE(frozz@holic @ Jul 4 2019, 06:25 PM) Well, don´t be too optimistic. There are thousands now who have high interest CIMB or AmBank eFD maturing these days and many run over to Affin. This promo will never run until 31st Dec, the quote may be reached soon. |

QUOTE(MakcikLum @ Jul 7 2019, 04:02 AM) Guys, 9/7/2019 is BN review OPR date, take note ya ... anyway, news estimates it's unlikely to down again this round, might maintain the rates, so is this good news or what ? Nothing will happen this time, but later in 2019 they maybe cut down OPR another 0.25% |

QUOTE(Thanosmama @ Jul 7 2019, 07:49 PM) Hi sifu, First let me say this. Low FD rate usually makes investors move to the stock market, so this is positive for the stock market. On the other side a high FD rate is poison for the stock market, why should someone take so much more risks when FD can earn 8% or so? If august fd rate is going to be worse, will u change to other things such fsm bond or unit trust? But a investor needs diversity. Even 3.5% is still more than most stock market companies offer as dividend. Unfortunately the MYR is not a strong currency, when the interest rate is going down more, many international investors will drop out and the exchange rate against USD, EUR, SGD and JPY will go down. To find the balance between the different kinds of investments is a big challenge. |
