Similar offers between HSBC and CB for their PB. I did consider HSBC before but I think they need to apply credit card, right ? CB offer just came out and since already their customer, less issue of have to close HSBC acct after 3 mths. tongue.gif

CIMB automatically set FD maturity date fall on working day during FD placement.
*
Thanks. Not much experience with CIMB as their FD offer not that often and shorter durations (recently). So they are the same as BR and CB who adjust the FD maturity to working day.

just done mine in last minutes..but tmr heard has better one..haha, uplift day after opening, any charges/fine?

In this case, no penalty.

I will see if there is better offer for March. Thursday have to decide what to do, FD, UT (CB offer of UT/FD), bonds ??? hmm.gif

i just put in 400K to HSBC, 4.88%.

need to apply credit card HOWEVER if your credit card application failed due to any reason such as no support document or income payslip, the FD will still proceed.
*
I thought HSBC max 200k for the 4.88% 3 mth FD ? hmm.gif

I'm a Citigold customer too. My RM never calls me maybe because she knows I only like really low risk investment. Do you need fresh funds to apply for 4.88%?
*
Would think fresh fund needed. Mine is fresh fund. Going to put to the max allowed to enjoy the gain for the short 3 mths. For your case, can call your RM to enquire, since it is pure FD 3 mth 4.88%. The other promo of FD 9.99% 3 mth is UT/FD combo. biggrin.gif

Thanks Sifu thumbsup.gif notworthy.gif  Another thing is do you think you can clarify whether Ambank pay interest for non-working days?
According to this forum page 1 -
"Banks that do not pay interest for non-working days(after FD maturity date eg Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays)
Am Bank
RHB
Standard & Chartered Bank"
But when I ask Ambank they said they pay interest for non-working days rclxub.gif . Sorry I'm just confuse regarding this  icon_question.gif
*
U have to ask them when u uplift AmBank FD. BUT u have to do it on the immediate working day after the maturity. They will calculate and bank in to your SA. That is my experience.

RHB also the same. biggrin.gif

Thanks for your excellent effort. I am not aware of CitiGold promo. It started in March? UT FD bundled sounds attractive.

Suggest for u to call Citigold to enquire about the promo. It started probably late Feb and suppose to end by March 31st. They have a quota for the promo. 2 promo's, pure FD (3 mth 4.88%) and FD/UT (FD 3 mth 9.99%) combo. But it is for selected Citigold customers (just found out yesterday). No harm to call if u are their Citigold customer. biggrin.gif

Yesterday in RHB to uplift FD and RENTAS out dough. But keep some amt in RHB as 4.05% 12 mth FD. Note that FD promo is for their PB only, min 50k.

RHB now has no promo for normal customer, just board rate 3.15% for 1 year. So the teller was telling me that lots of people taking out their FD. However for new to bank customer, they have min 50k, 12 mth 4%. So take note of this !

In CB to top up to max allowed for their pure FD 3 mth 4.88% FD promo. Also placed for their FD/UT bundle of FD 3 mth 9.99%. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Was told that the 2 promo's are for selected Citigold customers only. There is a quota of 70+ mil for this promo. For Citigold customers, if the RM did not call u, no harm for u to call your RM. At least go for the pure FD promo.

Invited to E&O Hotel seminar with dinner included. Talk by CB on investment ! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif biggrin.gif

CIMB RM called to inform new promo

12 months 4.15%
min 10k fresh fund

Not sure if it's just for PB customers.
For non PB customers, can still try asking; esp if you have bigger amount to place.
Previously, managed to get PB promo rates for relatives who are non PB customers .
*
This will be the best for now, it seems ! Break the promo 4.08% barrier, other than nego rate with some other institutions. thumbsup.gif

OT a little bit since I saw some interesting definition of PB.

In most cases here:
PB refers to Priority/Premier/Privilege/Preferred Banking.
For different banks, the requirement is from 200k to 500k (UOB).

Private banking requirement is onwards of 1 million, or rather 3 million.

Most banks you can use CASA or FD to meet the requirement. Some include loan amount as well. biggrin.gif

From time to time, banks have FD promo for PB customers only. thumbup.gif

Very unlikely BNM will follow FED because our economy is not performing well. Last year inflation was up due to GST. This year inflation will continue worsen due to weak ringgit. We are seeing a cost push inflation and Malaysia economy is moving towards the down turn phase, increasing  the OPR will worsen the economy further.

US reported high oil inventory and this will affect  the oil prices and hurt the country revenues.  To stimulate the economy, government is depending on China on its fscal policy as government has no excess money on spending.
BNM has to play with the OPR on its monetary policy to spur growth. Increasing the OPR will reduce the money supply in the market and will drive down the economy. Personnaly I think the OPR will remain throughout in the next 6 months.

if Malaysia economy can recover in 2-3 years with GDP climbing up and with a demand pull inflation, then only a big increase in OPR is possible. There are also other external factors which will affect the OPR. Ringgit exchange rate, BREXIT effects (BNM reacted to it when British voted BREXIT), South China Sea tension, Trump economic policy, global economy etc.
Ideally 36 months at 4.35% is good to lock in but now Am offer is 60 months. Nobody has the crystall ball. If one perceives the economy will not be doing well in the next 5 years, 4.35% is a good rate.
*
Attended CB's Citigold seminar last night. CB's opinion is M'sia would not be raising interest rate anytime soon.

AmBank was having 4.5/4.55/4.6% 3/5/2 years FD respectively in 2015. I still has these running. The current 5 yrs 4.35%, is not attractive. Agreed that if it is 3 years then can still consider. biggrin.gif

Their FD promo is only for selected Citigold customer with max 200k for pure FD of 12 mth 4.88%. FD/UT bundle of 1:1 with FD 3 mth 9.99%. I took up both last week. Is there other FD promo from CB ?

Last year they have 12 mth 4.5% FD for Citigold customer. But minimum deposit 1 mil !!

OK, the CIMB 4.15% is for their PB customer. The BM need to get approval from HQ first. I met with the CIMB BM. She seems to send email to HQ for approval while I wait for the PB queue number. Then she went with me to the PB/FD placement room and informed the staff there on the 4.15% rate. Min 10k will do.
