You will have to monitor consistently in case the fundamentals change for these counters :-

1) CUP.
2) GEM.

Gem is GEM Education Group, with many childcare centers in Australia and Sgp. YOU can 'get a feel' of this counter by observing the performance in Sgp too....
*
I think both also ok. GEM has plenty of education centres in Australia and Singapore. Good choice.

will consider both also after CNY.

So how does ASX tax affects us Malaysians? Any idea? Hansel now that DBS is charging for MCA, how do you buy your ASX?
*
Bank in Sgd to your MCA SGD. From there convert to AUD. Then no charges.

Try avoid deposit / withdraw other currency. Else u got to pay charges.

Same goes for Stanchart. I bank in Sgd to my savings. Then convert to respective currency u needed (transfer to respective foreign currency settlement acc).

I believe so ... but let the sifus who had experience in ASX  confirm...

For Aus tax residents it is good cos the franked portion of the dividend can be deducted against ur personal income tax ..eg: if franked dividend is 100% and ur personal income tax in aus is 40%, u will pay only 10% tax on the dividend u received cos 30% tax is alreaady incurred on the dividend at corporate level...not sure I used the right terms above, but something like that... smile.gif

Bro,

If u refer to post #80, sifu Hansel did mention the following :

"Bro,.. if you are not a resident of Australia, don't worry abt the franking part ! LIke I said previously, only if you're ready to stay in Australia do you think abt the franking credits."

Link does not work ? Sorry,...

The dps has been halved for the time being,...though unaudited profit increased,...that's the bad news. The restructuring is underway. As mentioned in the article :-

'Profit from Operations before Income Tax of between 5% and 8% for the HY2017. This half year result is after a preliminary provision of $1.1m in relation to the TFS matter and an impairment of $780,000 for an operating subsidiary.'

To me,.. I'm glad I bought low, non-resident yield is at 6.5%, resident yield is at 8.7%.

Continuing to earn the Aussie Dollar at a minimum of 6.5% is okay, paying out 4x a year, for a company that is run by accountants and continuing to earn profit.
*
Boss,

why the divvy for resident is lower than resident ?

3 Income stocks for Retirement Portfolio

Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS), Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX: CBA) and Retail Food Group Limited (ASX: RFG) will make good income stocks, bought at the right price.

QUOTE(Hansel @ Feb 21 2017, 10:06 AM)
I had a quick look at RFG, comments :-

1) yes, growing dpu since Mar 2007. I must say the chart is really impressive.

2) but : the grossed-up dpu amount only yields 6.43%, with the normal yield at only 4.50% at a price of $6.11. Even if the dpu keeps growing through the years, it will still take sometime to reach 7.50% normal yield, IF EVERYTHING PROGRESSES WELL CONTINUOUSLY.

...bUT if something negative happens,  causing the dpu to be reduced, then the yield will drop down from 4.50% (which is already low enough). Any further drops from 4.50% will make it 'unworthy' as a yield/income stock. Of course, the price will also drop when the dpu reduces, then we might suffer capital loss too in this process if the yield doesn't reduce too much.

Either way,...  smile.gif ,... this stock looks risky towards the ROI for my bullets,... don't know if I'm clear in my explanations,...

I agreed with you, boss.

your analysis is even better than fool.com maybe they overlooked on this point.

thanks.

Actually fool.com.au is probably commenting as an Aussie investor while bro Hansel is analyzing as a foreign player.
Each will have different set of ROI expectations. Aussies are probably happy with a net 4% yield.
*
Bro,

I see your points. maybe Aussies are probably happy with a net 4% yield which is not favour to us.

thanks again.

Not so attractive. Interest earned to be tax 10%

Just dump into asx shares better.

Need to go ASX to open acc ? Advisable for small trader like me ?

Don't know. Open account first before they close doors. No harm open account first. Right now AUD is more expensive vs SGD (if use RM)

Later decide as kind of broke (no more money after converting to SGD) When AUD weaken (they are too dependant on china), and it will, will look at next course of action.

I have limited ammo you know (as an ex-student)
*
Again fly to Australia to open acc. It will incur some cost too and yet u just started with SGX and Poems UT.

So fast open Aus acc ? Update us on how.

Not yet fly. I have enough ammo for one final round of change. AUD/SGD. After that I am completely broke. After all flying down to AU is a one time thing.

Then again, most people trade in US/HK without opening bank account in that country. hmm.gif

If opening account, I rather AU then HK as HK is like SG. Hard to open. AU is easy (from what I read).
If investment wise, I would like HK over AU as no with holding tax and according to bloomberg or something, HK markets are markets which give one of the highest return. HK broker easy to open.

Decisions... Decisions... hmm.gif

Take a step at one time. You are too rush in investment.

Good luck.

First I don't have anybody in AU.
Second, see here.
https://www.ig.com/au/create-account
Before we activate your account, Australian regulations require that we verify every client's identity.

You can find information on the easiest way to verify your identity below.

Please send a photo of the required documents to accountopening.au@ig.com or upload through the trading platform.
https://www.ig.com/au/proof-of-identity-new

Bonus:
Opening account with 8 Securities (HK)
(i) Can I open an account from overseas?
(ii) How do I open an account?
(ii) How do I submit my completed application?

If SG, HK (8securities, chief), US (IB, TDameritrade, etc) can open via mail, what makes you think AU cannot?  tongue.gif

That's why I asked you. Worth to open AUD account or not or a broker account is enough?
*
Update me if you had successfully open an acc. smile.gif

Wanted to knw more ab this too.
