I think no need to make another thread. This is info about downgrade rights. smile.gif

Dearest All,

Microsoft noticed that they are many having a lot of misunderstanding with Vista Business downgrade rights.
For example:-

Misconception:
1) I need to buy another COEM license on Windows XP Professional if my OEM is Windows Vista Business - WRONG
2) I cannot use Windows Vista Business anymore after I downgrade to Windows XP Professional - WRONG
3) After downgrade, I need to upgrade it back after a year - WRONG (customers can upgrade and downgrade anytime they want)
4) After downgrade, I can use the Windows Vista Business license on another PC - WRONG (each license will only allow use of either Win Vista or XP on one machine at any point in time)

The process really is very simple:
1) Resellers are to install the OEM Windows XP Professional into their customer's PC BUT sell to customers the Windows Vista Business (i.e. they have to stick the Windows Vista Business COA on the PC)
2) When customers activate their Windows XP Professional, they will fail because the key has been activated before (resellers need to tell customers this)
3) Customer will then call up Product Activation Center (1-800-88-6295) and ask them to give a new Product Key to activate their Windows XP Professional
4) Customers will then get the new P/K
5) If customers want to upgrade their machines back to Vista Business, they just use their OEM media and upgrade their machine.

What Resellers need to tell customers is:

1) Windows Vista Business can be downgraded to Windows XP Professional
2) The process is:
a. Reseller/Partner installs Windows XP Professional into the PC
b. Customer calls Product Activation Center (1-800-88-6295) to get a new Product Key for activation

Kindly read attached file to make sure you are clear the above misconception.

Have a nice day to all. icon_rolleyes.gif

They gave free vista for TARC student also. Here at MMU they gave vista business for student and staff. No extra charge, except for blank DVD which cost is less than RM5. Which i don't even bother getting the DVD because the ISO files is all the same. Can copy from someone else later.
