Honestly I never listen to how Elite Pro sounds, but I'm worried about crappy Creative drivers if I'm buying it. And why do you hide your speaker.... laugh.gif

Oh I see. It doesn't hurt to tell what kind of speaker you use, may I know it. If not you can PM me tongue.gif

Well, I never heard how Cirrus DAC sounds like so I can't guess what kind of speaker should match it

S750 does not sound tat bad...it's just not AegoM. I sold AegoM because it cannot handle rock music. S750 can handle more complex, distortion type of music, but i need to tune the EQ a lot of match the clarity of AegoM. under low volume, S750 clarity lost to AegoM. but when S750 is on high volume, the clarity accompany the bass very well.
titanium tweeters do nuts.. AegoM highs sounds better!!

If you buying speakers, avoid multimedia PC speaker at all costs. AT ALL COSTS. Buy a proper amp + bookshelf speaker, if you willing to spend

As a side note (not related to X-Fi thread) I use my Yulong PCM58DAC permanently now, everything else sounds 'digital'. This DAC sounds so organic (without opamp) it feels like I'm in live concert. I can even feel the artists present in my room, everything is rounded and no sharp edges in sight (or heard tongue.gif ). LME49720 makes it sounds super tight that the bass has lose the impact, entire spectrum feels like its compressed. So no opamp for me smile.gif

Who said bookshelf speaker isn't multipurpose? My current setup is good for everything, and its a huge plus when it comes to music. I just put subwoofer for more kick in movies and games

How much for buying a whole set ? Just 2 front bookshelf speakers and amp

My current setup is my father's previous. So total spent RM0 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(blessedvillain @ May 3 2008, 10:44 PM)
bookshelf can also be "multipurpose". We have multipurpose vans to carry goods, but we can also use Porsche to "carry" goods. which is more efficient is up to the owner to decide.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Yep, very true. If some cheap speaker can do those why not the expensive one?

It depends with your setup, and your ear too. It benefit more on lossy codec like mp3 rather than lossless, as it increased the impact on low and high frequency

Look here for what it done to frequency spectrum

thanks for the explanation bro...that means it makes those mp3 file that are not so clear to bcome clearer right? but how are we supposed to tune the card to the max best setting ar...normally what are the things that u adjust to get better sound quality? hope u don mind to share notworthy.gif
i am on edifier s530d..
*
In theory it should makes it sound better, but it all depends on song, bitrate and your gear. If you asked me, all these are useless. If you want the best quality, buy original CD and rip them to lossless. If you don't have much money, try to look for lossless online

Roughly Rm500 for MX5021 or Logitech Z2300 at year end.  doh.gif

I wonder if i take out the plate of the new version of XFi, will void the warranty ?
If so, how are we going the mod the card ?
*
If the shielding have warranty sticker preventing it from being open then it will void the warranty, if not you can remove it

With shielding or not, any modding on the card can be considered voiding the warranty already tongue.gif

No, he only have one card only. And lucky me too biggrin.gif I use latest Creative driver, it works great. Am I missing something from Daniel_k one?

Hmm, the stock sound signature isn't that bad too. A bit on dry side, but thats good, vocal is a bit forward and there are some detail that present on it that I haven't heard from Yulong PCM58DAC. This card sound promising to be modded, but keep it at stock for a while smile.gif

If you use XP just stick with latest Creative driver, no need to use Daniel_K modded driver..

Hehe, wait you mod first....after a long time considerasion and surf the head-fi forum, i decided to swap only the coupling, decoupling, and power cap but not op-amp...
*
Yeah, I'm with you, I'm not fond changing the card sound signature (the opamp). I see your post on X-Fi modding thread, well I have tons of thing to do, I can do it right about now, but it depends on me, I'm not feeling well right now, caught a cold last night so my awareness is a bit down sad.gif

Really? You have mod the opamp? Any RMAA screenshot you can share with us?

not the setting problem, i test using same setting for front and real channel, and appropriate volume, even by using 3 modes separately, no different, the distortion just can't go lower, stay same...

I see...well, I can't get the X-Fi to work with RMAA, how to set it to work tongue.gif
