Here's my RMAA result, the frequency response is haywire, other looks great though

U using which mode? you must mute the line-in output before testing...
*
Audio Creation, if I mute them then how can I record it? Doesn't make any sense.....it won't register anything if I mute them

Are you sure? i means Line-in playback...

The slider in Creative console quite confusing, just using the windows volume panel...

How can you choose Line-In when you mute it? Mine doesn't register anything to be recorded, the level is -70dB no matter how hight I put the volume graph is

I choose the Line-In in recording and mute the Line-In in Playback...you get it?

Yes of course, I done this million times before (I've played a lot of soundcard before), but still won't register much. Hmm, I'll look at it tomorrow, getting sleepy....

I done some modding, changed the DSP caps with 1000uF 16V Sanyo WG caps. Weirdly my soldering iron is not hot enough to melt the solder on negative point of the caps, resulting I put the caps on the back side of the card (I noticed this problem even on Live! cards)

It working great, I was worried that it might not work because firstly since I use a lot of heat to remove the bugger caps and secondly I use low ESR caps that it shuts down the regulator, but thankfully its not

Next might be to remove the stupid decoupling caps, but I afraid that the problem with negative point again. Maybe a wire behind the caps to short them works just as fine as removing them....?

EDIT: My mod is almost done, I removed the decoupling, short them, along with additional trodas mod on the card plus I don't use any opamp. It sounds great, but because there is construction work in front of my house, I can't really test the card fully shakehead.gif

But I will against not using an opamp, when I change the volume it will pop and shut down my amplifier. So don't do it even though it sounds better. I plan to use LME49720 because I have no other choice

So far you are the first to bypass the opamp in the world..
*
Hehe, you're right. I'm crazy enough to do so tongue.gif

Well, finally my mod is done! Complete with LME49720 and a little more capacitor changes. The improvement is shocking.gif It sounded great thumbup.gif sparkly, full with detail, airy. It sounded a lot better than my previous fully modded HD2 too brows.gif Its a bliss, although I still have few more mods in mind, well I think its enough. My hand is shaken when I done this mod, I'm not fully recovered from fever yet sweat.gif

EDIT: Some picture for poisoning brows.gif

@Najmods

Bro, how much of the solid cap? Can you test the opamp output to see how much the DC voltage offset since you bypass the decoupling cap? If can post your RMAA test as well...
*
How much of what? The capacitance value or the price? RMAA is impossible, since I removed some of the caps on the line-in that is why I can't test the card for RMAA anymore tongue.gif Oh, I no longer bypassing the opamp, I use LME49720 now

If you really want it, I can resolder back the capacitor smile.gif

I ask for price...and how much for LME49720? Can you test the opamp output DC offset using digital multimeter? because i read from head-fi who shorted the decoupling cap detected some DC offset from opamp output terminal....

why you removed it? you are not to use line-In anymore?
*
I've told you before, I take all those caps from dead soundcard or motherboard, I don't buy it. How to measure DC offset?

I'm not bothered with RMAA result anymore. that is why I don't solder them smile.gif

Edit: I resolder them back just to test RMAA, here's the result

just test the left and right channel refer to ground without music playback...with coupling cap, the value should be very near to 0V....
*
I got negative values, -0.17V to be exact. I don't know what that means though blink.gif

Anyone here knows what is the pinout for 3.5mm female gold jack on this X-Fi? I want to use RCA jack as primary out

how about real channel ST4558 DC offset? urgent men...
*
Absolute zero, no reading at all (maybe because I disable rear channel I think), why do you ask?

EDIT: I checked it again with 5.1 enabled, it registered 0.002V

you are now facing a dangerous to overheat your amplifier...
The modder who using LM4562 and shorted cap only register 10-30mV, but you get almost 170mV, too high, maybe you put back the shorted cap and measure again if you wish...
*
its minus 170mV, not +170 mV

Furthermore I'm sure my Technics amplifier have DC offset protection

Actually the same...if you direct connecting your headphone/earphone onto it, your headphone/earphone diaphragm will displace from it original position depends on negative or positive DC offset...
*
I've edit my previous post. My Technics amp have DC offset protection, hehehe brows.gif

I use 33uF tantalum caps on the 4 decoupling caps and measure the DC offset, its exactly 0.030V. Sound quality wise there is slight difference, no caps sound a bit better smile.gif

I just used for testing, I'll short them back afterwards anyway. There is no problem with tantalum anyway, I used it on Prodigy HD2 before, it just sounds a bit bright thats all smile.gif

Edit: My X-Fi PureMusic™ is finally completed, my last mod is making RCA out smile.gif

They are crap too, well, my card is made in Malaysia, which is weird. The soldering job on this card is the worse thing I see from a sound card, the caps are not perfectly perpendicular to the card, even the leg is sticking out and not perfectly flat on the card doh.gif

I don't dare to mod other cards sorry, but if you need any info I can give it to you smile.gif

I change some more capacitor, no tantalum now biggrin.gif Will post the picture if I'm in the right mood to do so tongue.gif

Just one though tongue.gif Alright, here's the picture, it still looks crap laugh.gif but who cares about looks, it sounds awesome wub.gif

Combination of solid caps + Sanyo OS-CON, and there's one Rubycon MBZ on the other side biggrin.gif
