elva, so we have to build a new cable n stick to it or what..?
*
huh, blink.gif build a new cable?

1 - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - No Connection
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +12VDC when mic is plugged in
10 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

I think the cable of your casing front panel should stated and should be more than enough...if you don't use mic in, can just connect the earphone pin...

Let say if you just want to use earphone on the front jack, you can just simply find the connector of your front jack (should be labeled there) and hook up to pin 1, 2 and 4 without bother others pin...if you want to mute the sound card back panel output while using the earphone, you need to connect pin 3 and 5 as well, otherwise just leave it. (provided that your front panel is HDAudio standard, AC'97 wont have those mute function).

PS: The pin 1(ground), 2 and 4 will provides analog signal as long as the card operates, routed from the opamp 4556 pin 1 and 7 directly, no software/switch to disable that, so just use it with your creativity... tongue.gif

oh, you read this....actually depends on your front panel socket, if your socket is same as picture which is bind together, then you need a mod like him...but if your socket is separated (usually got label on each pin), then you can connects freely, no need any mod...so, how's yours?

I am interested to buy a Creative SB0466\046A X-Fi ExtremeGamer Falta1ty Pro sound card but I'm holding back because I don't know whether the SC could be connected to my AV amplifier through a toslink optical cable. I have an old AV amp which has one available toslink optical input and this amp is connected to 5.1 speakers. I intend to buy this SC to upgrade my crappy Gigabyte onboard sound.

From the pictures posted in the various threads, I noticed that there are 4 ports on the SC but none seems to be a toslink port.

Can anyone enlighten me whether a toslink opticable cable can be connected directly to the X-Fi Falta1ty Pro SC and if so, through which one of the 4 ports? Or must I get a toslink adapter (toslink to 3.5mm jack) to connect to the SC?

Does that mean that I have to buy a front I/O panel and how much would it cost? Would it be possible (albeit cheaper) if I were to buy a toslink adapter shown below to connect to the spdif port of the SC? Anyone done this with good results?

Hi guys

Just want to know how much of a difference in audio quality is there between my Audigy LS (bought years ago) and a X-Fi Titanium (~RM370) for eg?

Actually when I listen to my Audigy LS I feel the sound quality is very good and have no complaints. I'm thinking if I change it to X-Fi Titanium, will I get the "whoa...." feeling?

How do the cards differ anyway? There's :

Titanium @ 370
Titanium Fatal1ty Pro @ 600
Titanium Fatal1ty Champion @ 800

Will each different tier give you that "whoa..." feeling everytime you upgrade?

My speakers are Altec Lansing 4100: gear.ign.com/articles/354/354204p1.html

refer to the pic above, the right pic (MIRAGE) labeled number is correspond to left pic socket, not correspond to pin 1-10 of X-Fi...

Match your connector pin (got labeled) to the definition of the X-Fi pin.
