coz i spent 4300 for the bike and cateye rapid 5 (RM90) ..now my heart bleeding liao...ytd i rode without a helmet...1st time on a road bike sumore..guess was going downhill at 40-50km/h..now think oso scared...no choice must get a helmet.

came back frm GH din get the helmet...went thr primarily to fix brake caliper as it was loose before.. took me 1 and and 15 mins whilst i stayed thr for only 15 mins..damn...lol...well at least i dun have to go later after 6pm...going back hometown tonight...going to ride on the 29th this month in putrajaya...provided i m not caught up in work(not jam) ..malleus..maybe i will see u ahhaa

So I went to cycle last nite and went over the metal thingy covering the longkang which has gaps each measuring like 30mm.. If u noe wat I mean.. My bike is 25 mm.. My bike I guess went into the gap and hit the cement edge of the other side of the longkang.. Wat followed is gass hissing from front tyre and it became a flat... After inspection, I found the tyre to be in good condition ie no holes.... Wats the problem with my tyre? Can it be rescued? Or I need to buy another one?

Thanks for the useful explanation malleus. Do u think the incident might have damaged my frame with the kind of shock? My whole body felt the shock the moment the tyre hit the edge of the longkang. I just bought it 3 days ago. So sad with such an unfortunate event.

A headlight is definitely useful then.


I just lean it against the wall. No money to buy helmet, headlight, apparel, bike storage, and bike rack.

chances are that my rim is dented.it's dt swiss 1.0 though.....and u mentioned light wheels can improve acceleration, perhaps now is the time to change then...since i m on a 25 rather than 23mm

butthead, i m at hometown now. didn't get to inspect the rim .... will check once i m back to kl.... so according to ur explanation it's most probably holes in my tube in which case i only need to patch it back...will this cause imperfect pressure in my tire? if yes i would like to change a new tube

oh yes the dt swiss looks kinda tough so much so i din't bother to inspect it after the incident...

also the bike shop deflated the tyre by abit so it could fit into the gap between the brakes when putting the wheel back in....as my tire is 25mm... i read online that a under inflated tire will cause this to happen when hit a hard edge too..... should i make a claim against them? they didn't warn me on this though..i did tell them i dun have a pump to inflat the tire yet

Yay luckily damage is only the tube! Now I feel much better. I am really poor now lol. After purchasing the bike. Hope, I am able to find a gang of riders that I can stick to so I won't lose interest in this sport! So far, the forumers here are responsive! Good signs!
