maybe i shud take a pictar too of my saddle and post here...hmmm

Come to think about it, pain after 1 minute is very fast. Normally should only feel it after 20 - 30 minutes

ouch man.. no concussions I hope?

better get your bike back to the shop to get it checked out too

I brake when going downhills only when I'm going too fast to be comfortable with, but make sure only to apply them gently. I get the wobble problem only when I hit the rear brakes too hard and the rear tire lock up

Wobble because of what? I am not in drop down possition as far i remember. my hand is on top of the shifeter hood.
Think the wobble I described is different from yours. Yours seemed to be from the front while mine is from the rear when I jammed the rear brakes too hard and the rear tire locks up when going at high speed.

First time I heard of this speed wobble though, as I use a MTB, not a road bike. Sounds damn freaky ler...

your case is just practically losing grip on the rear end... on road bike.. it can be catastrophic.. possible to go into a slide, proceed to recover grip and throw the rider in the opposite direction of the lean onto the ground... what they call high sided on a motorcycle...

here is what could happened with a locked rear... one of the more famous ones... Joseba Beloki in the 2003 running of the tour... although report also stated that he rolled his tubular in the process..

but he definitely locked up... started to slide out from underneath when his tyres suddenly retain it's grip and fling him sideways onto the ground (practically smacked onto the ground full force).. end up breaking his femur and some other bones i remember...

there are some reasons to why it doesn't happen on a mountain bike... partly it can be due to the running of knobby tyres which dampen out the shocks that is required to cause a speed wobble in the first place... and the geometry of the bike and how the rider is sitting more upright as opposed to putting quite a lot of body weight forward on the handlebars.. MTB also leave the ride sort of like pushing against the handlebars horizontally rather than like a road bike... just my theory... can be wrong...
*
yeah its scary alright, even on a MTB. had a locked rear happen to me on a long downhill at hulu langat cause I was careless with the brakes, but managed to keep my balance. was doing over 50km/h that time.

i'm thinking that the heavier weight of the MTB kinda helps to prevent the front speed wobble too.

learned a new term "RX insert" and now looking for models with this feature...seems that not every model supports "RX insert"...

I'm kinda wary about these insert type of lenses, as I'm worried about how long it may take for your eyes to adjust when you put them on. Anybody has got experience with it before?

Interesting conversation going on...good to know there are so many passionate cyclist on this thread.

On the earlier subject of falls and recoveries, almost had my first major crash last weekend. Was on MRR2 when I went over a rock or something...My hands completely slipped from the handlebars, resulting in my chest falling straight unto the stem and handlebars. Panicked for a moment as I was my clipless pedals and shoes. Somehow I managed to steer the bike with my chest and regained control. luckily was not going very fast, probably around 20kmh plus. Felt extremely foolish and careless, not paying attention to the road.

On the way home got caught in a massive thunderstorm, was drenched to the bone. Had to decide whether to stop and take shelter at a bus stop or press on...managed to get back on in one piece even though I was completely soaked.

Fun all the way...

Amazing recovery! don't forget to relube your chain again after getting your bike wet like that

hello, I'm a college student riding a newly gotten fixie. should i buy a lubricant for the maintenance? or should i just let the bicycle shop employees do it?

cleaning and lubricating your chain is a pretty easy enough task to do. useful to learn how to do it on your own

Can... pump to 0.2psi only...
my airbrush compressor is rated for up to 100psi smile.gif not that I had attempted to try using that to inflate my tires before

damn.. I gotta get myself one of those pumps too. getting fed up with my little hand pump for inflating my tires whenever I switch between my slicks and my knobby tires.

if there are plenty of pretty chicks riding in bikini for those 3 days... i'd go even if it's double the price...
29er... if you are not the itchy to change things type... and you ride XC a lot...

i figure it will take another year before the full 29er fad starts picking up... that being said, you still have to hope that 29er parts like wheels and forks are in if you are the itchy type... variety is a problem currently with the 29er...
*
Ah well, guess I'll wait a bit then. Not to mention that if I change now, I'll get into deep crap with my FC tongue.gif

i got the ultimate plan... coax your FC into cycling then... so, so you can let her ride your current rig... and buy a 29er...

tell her you need 2 bikes so you and her can go out and cycle together... at the same time can develop a closer bond of you closer and spend more time together by sharing the same passion...chicks dig the relationship shit  cheers.gif

and if you are seeing long term... anything you upgrade on your new 29er can be used as an excuse to upgrade her bike... just pass down your old stuff and tell her it is better for her ride cheers.gif
*
I actually did think of that brows.gif give her my current 26' hard tail while I get a 29er

Only problem is that the optimum size for her to use is a 14' while the 6000 that I got is a 15.5'

ah well, still plotting here smile.gif

haha. i also have the thought of getting another bike for easy ride and perhaps riding them hard enough without feeling guilty..perhaps a 2nd hand roadbike 1.5k and below budget...or could be another new low end merida...

but my cycling friend advise me not to have 2 bikes...better focus on one bike and upgrade it to the max (if you really keen to increase performance of the bike etc etc). but somehow I really want to have 2 bike..1 treated like a king..another 1 like a slave tongue.gif
*
Don't really see the point of having 2 bikes though.. Unless one is a MTB and one is a road bike

The problem is that my place is kinda hilly which is seriously good place to train as climber. That how my accident happen as to go flatland i first had to go tru some downhill slope first (that where it happens). Not sure now how to do it, i guess i will walk downhill first then ride on the flatland  rclxub.gif

Just take it easy on the descends instead of speeding all the way down
