I stay in Kuala Lumpur. I am male.
I intend to buy a Suzuki Address scooter.

http://www.suzuki.com.my/address/intro-address.html

I choose scooter because it is fuel effiency.

Any commends?

Suzuki has ceased assembly operations in Malaysia with the shutting down of its assembly plant in Prai, Penang. The plant assembled scooters and kapchais, including the Suzuki Address, Nex, Axelo and Belang, amongst other sub-150 cc models.

With the shutting down of the plant, Suzuki Assemblers Malaysia will concentrate on the large-displacement motorcycle market, with units imported from Japan. According to industry sources, Suzuki intends to maintain a presence in Malaysia for the foreseeable future.

Yes I got this one can go 200km per tankful. Still I suggest the usual honda/yamaha ones.

Why you still think another one?

Fuel efficiency is a good point.
How many years of warranty do your motorcycle dealer give you? One year or two years?

Thank you

the only thing that i dislike about scooter is the absence of basket
i am so used to having one on kapcai, it's rather an inconvenience when riding a scooter without one

Can place one in front of the light but don't know Malaysia have such accessories or not?
Compare to the kapcai and Suzuki Address, which is more powerful?

Yours is FI or carburetor?
Carburetor is sure eat oil. On the other hand, FI save oil but more expensive in both kapcai and scooter.
200+km every full tank can or not?

Why? 113cc equal to 125cc. This is what the Internet forum or others mentioned this figure.
I make a decision already, that is Suzuki Address.

Any other comments?

almost there....scooter is better but not suzuki, they already pulled out from malaysia market, it would be difficult to source parts, warranty n service

i would recommend
<150cc = yamaha nmax 155cc or for sportier looks yamaha nvx/aerox next year
>150cc = new modenas elegan 250cc
>250cc = kymco xciting 400cc
>400c = yamaha tmax 500cc, aprilia srv 850cc

I would suggest you don't get suzuki models as suzuki has announced to retreat from m'sia market... you may expose the risk of getting spare parts with expensive price or even hard to get the spare parts...

I am living in KL as well... tend to change my 20-year-old modernas kriss 110 recently...

I am thinking to get 250cc big bike or scooter... but feeling hard to move around super jammed KL city center...

Hence, I am start to look for smaller cc scooter with bigger fuel tank... currently looking for honda pcx150 and yamaha nmax 155... the coming yamaha nvx 155 even look nicer in term of the look but smaller fuel tank compare to yamaha nmax 155...

I would like to share with you... I like pcx150 more because:
- pcx150 having 8 liter ++ fuel tank but nmax155 just 6 liter ++
- pcx150 engine capacity 149cc just right below 150cc no need pay roadtax but nmax have to pay roadtax
- pcx150 has bigger underseat storage
- pcx150 chromed handlebar and meter looks awesome compare to nmax155

Unfortunately, I have not gone for test ride yet... I am doubt is there any shop in KL offer test ride for pcx150 and nmax155 or not...

Nmax roadtax is RM30 yearly, while PCX v3 is RM2 only.

I used in dilemma also last time, to choose between Pcx and Nmax. As for me, the petrol tank is really the upper hand and big advantage compared to Nmax. Plus the idling start stop, Pcx easily can achieve early 300KM per tank, very good deal tak penah nak asyik stop isi minyak.

But at the end, I choose Nmax mainly because of the selling price.

And PCX150, you can change to keyless. around RM600 - RM700 for original keyless system. Plug & play. Can buy the system set from Thailand / Vietnam. thumbup.gif

Dah almost ~33K otr dah bro. 26k tu masa mula2 masuk sini je.

Xciting ni what most attract me is the design belakang tu, lampu belakang dia, pehhhhhh memang smart. Suppose haritu waktu launch Elegan tu patut nya Modenas introduce Downtown sekali dengan Xciting, tak tau kenapa Xciting delay lak. Hopefully ada price reduction la

Hi all scooter fellows here, I am interested to get a scooter, just for a convenient transport like go mini-market, or send kid to school in early morning (2-3km distant).
I am looking for <150cc scooter, anyway, previously cub user (honda 110cc cub), and feel want to switch to automatic.

A few concern, since the honda cub is super reliable and solid, after >15 years still work good and not much maintenance cost. Heard that scooter might need frequent change v-belt and cvt pulley stuff... Just worry after bought it will regret, any forum or page that could get more info on all those stuffs ?

Xciting beware of the King Coil problem.. the 1.5 L engine oil wont help to cooled down the coil in Malaysia condition...

I owned one before.. this definetely something you need to change after 10 to 15k Km....

No cure whatsoever, some can getaway with recoil but it depends on your luck... Ask Mansheng in Pudu if you need further info....

And note.. the spare part is lesser compare to SYM... due to Modenas didn't bring the 400i officially and the current dealership (MBB) already not carrying Kymco Anymore (AP given to Modenas)

Cubchai definitely cheaper to maintain in the long run...

1. Scoot need to change the CVT parts.. Belt, Roller and Clutch just its need different KM distance on those parts.
2. Engine oil will need to change with oil filter (compare to EX-5), and good quality of engine oil needed since Scoot with CVT will need to operate in higher RPM most of the time...
3. Those fat but small Tyre definitely more expensive than those cubchai rubber (unless you take the standard size 14 or 17 inc tyres like those PCX or Nouvo)
4. Bodyparts.. more plastic cover need to maintain.. if you tend to leave your scoot under the sun most of the time.. forget abt it.. will fade and crumbled..

Ajaibman,
Thank you for the info.

Still struggle between cub and scoot. hmm.gif
Really like the leg-space of scoot, and no need up/down gear. By the way, Honda BeAT / Spacy are good to go basic scoot? Or Yamaha EGO series / Modenas Karisma better option?

Those scoot you mention does not guarantee long space for your leg, just same as cubchai... but if you really into those choices..

I would suggest Honda Spacy as 1st option then follow by the Ego .. dont go for Modenas.. how many you see on the road this bike?

Thank ajaibman.
Will visit shop to has a serious look on the actual unit.
Personally prefer Honda, as it famous for "tahan lasak". But i don't want limit the choice, since it is scoot, Suzuki/Yamaha had long history of scoot in Malaysia, so they should had build up some eco-system.

And don't go for Suzuki as well.. their principal close shop in Malaysia only Lion Suzuki as distributor now... even in Thai and Indon Suzuki not mainstream brand...

However, Suzuki tend to build their engine tahan lasak...

From the displacement .. sure Honda Spacy more fuel saving since 109 vs 125cc ....

but from the power to weight ratio.. they might be at the similar level of fuel consumption..

At the end for this low capacity scooter.. the determining factor of fuel efficiency ... depends on how much weight its carry..

At the end for this low capacity scooter.. the determining factor of fuel efficiency ... depends on how much weight its carry..

Thank you very much

And don't go for Suzuki as well.. their principal close shop in Malaysia only Lion Suzuki as distributor now... even in Thai and Indon Suzuki not  mainstream brand...

However, Suzuki tend to build their engine tahan lasak...

Okay, will not go for Suzuki. Most probably go for Honda Spacy or Honda BeAT, since the BeAT is new model. the BeAT got PGM-FI fuel injection. The spacy got DC CDI, but i not sure how benefit it for the engine.

DC CDI is carburrated engine... similar like honda scoopy (in thai) and earlier mode of Beat..

In paper the FI version have slight fuel saving and no need to warm up during cold start.. (no choke).. but i might be wrong hahaa..

*
v-belt sets not that expensive (Yamaha). My Ego LC Fi, as stated in manual, need to change every 20k. My annual mileage only 6k. So it'll take years before I need to change it.

I still have my first scooter (Yamaha Nouvo first edition), pass it to my brother. Still kicking strong. Only the plastic cover faded.

QUOTE(ajaibman @ Dec 21 2016, 11:30 AM)

*
1. Mileage base. Not that expensive.
2. Every 4k km. Similar with kapchai. Similar engine oil spec. Nothing fancy.
3. True. Can be significantly expensive.
4. Similar to kapchai too. Most kapchai also covered with plastics.

Ajaibman,
Thank you for the info.

Still struggle between cub and scoot.  hmm.gif
Really like the leg-space of scoot, and no need up/down gear. By the way, Honda BeAT / Spacy are good to go basic scoot? Or Yamaha EGO series / Modenas Karisma better option?
*
I use Ego LC Fi. Good enough to go to pasar malam and work (10 mins ride only). The only thing that lacks is fuel tank too small 3.8L.

It's just plug and play. I have all the parts number for the modules required. Just need to buy from Honda Thailand / Vietnam.

Over there, all PCX is keyless.

1. For small capacity scoot... 150cc and below, however the Sprocket and Chain still much cheaper.
2. For the sake of engine longevity, if no oil filter please change it every 2500 or 3000 km.. similar spec but perhaps different formula needed.
3. Agreed.
4. Look at Modenas Elit, Mosquito and older Elegan, the plastic still covered much surface compare to cubchai..

I rode 2005 Elegan 150 until 2009, Honda Scoopy in 2011 then Kymco Xciting 400i till 2015.

Thank for the info.
The plastic fade problem seem to be issue for scooter. So far I saw those kapcai, even my honda kapcai, after 15 years, the plastic still look like new. For scooter, the black plastic tend to fade.

change oil every 4000 km, and belting recommended every 10,000km although can be used up to 25,000km. unfortunately I live in an Island, i just go to local mechanic one. though i've seen members who used pcx speak glowingly about EE Tiong Honda Impian Shop KL for maintenance service.

for >250cc i like both Xciting 400, but the new Downtown 250 tu pun macam cun gak. In term of price, beza about 10K juga tu. What say you bro?
Nmax roadtax is RM30 yearly, while PCX v3 is RM2 only.

I used in dilemma also last time, to choose between Pcx and Nmax. As for me, the petrol tank is really the upper hand and big advantage compared to Nmax. Plus the idling start stop, Pcx easily can achieve early 300KM per tank, very good deal tak penah nak asyik stop isi minyak.

But at the end, I choose Nmax mainly because of the selling price.

Hi bro , i also plan to buy Nmax 155 . pls give me some review since u r using it ?
Thanks

What's the primary use of the scooter? If just to go to 'Pasar Malam', then it's good enough. The fuel tank a bit small.

I've used Ego LC Fi before, used it for 3 years, very cheap to maintain. Good scooter IMHO but lack travelling range due to smallish fuel tank.

You cannot measure what to change every month... if you don't ride it much, then nothing to be change. For example, it can be months before it's due for an engine oil change. It's about km distance covered, not month. As for engine oil, if I'm not mistaken it's due for a fresh engine oil every 5,000km. Do check with the user's manual. It's all there. 0.8L engine oil just RM19 icon_rolleyes.gif

Refresh brake fluid every 24 months. Simple job.

As for CVT (belting, weight, & stuffs) do it every 20,000km.

Air filter need to be change as well, but I can't remember the details. All in the manual. Do read and follow. It's there for a reason whistling.gif
