Why do you want to use optical if you got such a nice card? If not mistaken, optical bypasses all the opamp and dac giveing u the same signal as onboard optical out.

Bro gary73,
After looking into your photo, I not dare to show my setup anymore. What a nice setup. blush.gif

opps.. i've been missing for a long time.. sorry for not replying. hey.. no need to be shy about our setups.. end of the day, the most important thing is the music.. the equipment becomes secondary or at least i hope most people think the same as i do. also, there will always be someone out there with better equipment.

i actually have another setup i use in my room, and its not as expensive as people might think.

i bought my 2nd setup 2nd hand, totally from just looking thru the staronline audiophile section classifieds. I was very lucky, and got good quality stuff at very good prices.

i started building it in 2001. bought each item as they appeared.

speakers: mordauntshort MS10i - RM300
Amp: NAD 310 - RM300
CD: Marantz CD67SE - RM400

= RM1,000 total. budget another RM300-400 for 2nd hand cables and you have a decent entry level Hi-fi setup.

Luxury setup you have, mind to let me know what interconnect you using for NAD PP2 > Amp.

thanks for the kind comments. but sorry for the super late reply.. anyways.. nothing special.. QED Qunex 2. for a "budget" cable, bass is nice and punchy. previously, i was using my own homemade interconnect... made out of individually separated CAT5 cable and then weaved together. works pretty well, but using that on my 2nd system now.

i only used 2 twisted pairs.. the thing i was worried about if i used too many twisted pairs, was how to fit them into the RCA plugs..
but they really sound decent, comparable to commercially sold interconnects in the RM250-400 range in some cases.

Great, I read some study from tnt audio, recommended is 3 twisted pair to work out the best combination. But i have the same problem as u, too many to squeeze in, I am digging out all the cat 5 i have during this new year clean out.

beside, have you try this into your video player (yellow plug) does it show better??

Thanks

havent tried that before actually.. tried it with my turntable, but its too noisy, i think its coz of lack of shielding or something.

using hdmi cable with my plasma tv now, so no chance to try as vid cable.

Kinda. Speakers need analogue signal to play. And they need to be converted to analogue so might as well be ur SC. Instead of a lousier DAC built into speakers.

Sansa Fuze 8GB + 8GB SDHC, replacing my 1.5 yrs-old iriver clix2 ;D ;D ;D
I am in progress of building my LOD for the Fuze so I can take advantage of the hidden line-out signal, just waiting all the parts to come after CNY.
