well depends on yur budget biggrin.gif
zero dac and audiocompass may able to fill yur requirement
i had the zero dac for 6 months and got the hdams for it
then got ldmk4se tube amp and all started to sound funny and weird......
not to say anything negative bout zero, but it gaves me atififacts and my amp ampilify it until all my cans got sibliance...very fatiguing and i going crazy everytime i put my cans for a good listening
tot something was wrong with my amp but when try with my friend's cambridge magicdac and lavry da10 they match perfect.... sweat.gif no floor noise signature and very transparency and very very smooth soundsignature sweat.gif
if u can go for the high end dac, might as well save up for it and 1 shot.....u will not regret it...

well modding the zero and adding franken mod only can get u to a certain stage but still......however u mod it it only be limited to circuit design inside...
my advice if u r aimming for pure audio enjoyment, get a standalone dac which is used for hi fi speakers
they r much more cleaner, powerful, and more musical aside from the size ler
but u enjoy every bit of the details, musical, warmness and the zero ground noise with yur audio
well monarcy m24 is a great dac as well hybrid dac like xindak dac 5 but with headamp ouput
grace m9021 is very good, aside from benchmark dac1 and new lavry da11 with usb input
other than that, acoustic arts came out with a pure standalone hybrid dac with 4 solid state bur browns and 4 tubes as well Accustic Arts Tube-DAC II
but of all this....cost an arm and a leg.....

i never audit it yet so i wouldnt know how it's performance yet..
hmm for spec it looks interesting although the dac 7 hdcd caught my attention
using high end audiophile philips dac7 and CAST technology....very interesting.....bnc and rca inputs as well
from the pics, i saw they didnt skim all the cost for it as well all was properly justified and planned out for the parts and quality hmm.gif
if i were u, save up and get dac7 or the dac8 for xlr inputs
u cant go wrong with it biggrin.gif
although dac-3se is not bad imo ....

here in sg they r selling at sg 599
back in msia i guessing 2k rm mostly ....
magicdac is using wolfson chip and they r extremely laidback and very warm
although the bass is still lacking in my expectation....havent try out the xlr so maybe i not 100% sure of his performance yet....
