TM still OK but their line seems to be the stable among all! Another thing is ASTRO. Their content is so rich (especially sports channel) and nobody can't beat them. EPL is damn expensive now and for my opinion is quite reasonable for ASTRO to charge its subscribers some amount of money! ASTRO most expensive channels come from Chinese & Sports package. Chinese channel they signed agreement with TVB while Sports Channel mainly with Premier League.

But just imagine if Astro have another competitor with comparable contents. They could be fighting for a better deal with better pricing. And you and me as consumers would reap the benefit from it.

There's a reason why EPL is so rich, they only sell to 1 company per country to maximise profit. So even if there are many TV channels only 1 can buy it and that at very expensive pricing due to competing bids.

I dun think so there will be another competitor in mere future with comparable contents! The contents r too expensive which many would not take a risk because u see even ASTRO now is losing customers because the pricing too high. None or anybody would like to take this risk. That is why ASTRO have no competitors until today.

In today's business world, only traders who profit, ours as consumer will suffer from high prices and this causes inflation!

Why don't TS give a try at others telco? Celcom and Digi ?
Recently Celcom been doing modernization for the pass 4 month! (nearly 5 months)
Speed did improved.

QUOTE(cracksys @ Nov 21 2016, 12:48 PM)
Maxis are miles better in term of speed and coverage as compared to others.

Umobile - Very fast but spotty.
Celcom - Very wide but slow like shite.
Digi - Spotty and shit speed.

* Currently using both Celcom and DIGI
*
That's why all of them are planning to upgrade the tower.
Celcom been upgrade the 4G speed for 4 months.
Others 2 also start to upgrade d, if not mistaken...

QUOTE(stevenlee @ Nov 21 2016, 12:53 PM)
well, i think maxis do aware other telco is improving their coverage, stability and speed.
that why, this round Maxis is very fast come out with new plan as compare to last round where maxis drag quite long.
previously,  thousand of users port out before they will start to do something.
*
Nah, it's just they learn the lesson from the pass and also changed new CEO....
They're still not aware that others are just behind him...
Anyway, I think add on data is just not what majority want...

For me, Maxis postpaid is getting more and more expensive. Think back before we have older postpaid such as Surfmore (RM50, RM75), iValue Simple (RM50), etc and recently obsolete plan MaxisGo (RM48).

After Maxis One plan introduced, all above plan have been cut off. Yes, One plan did give you more data, do you really need so much data ? For me, MaxisGo already can fulfill for my monthly require which now is become 3gb and 100 mins free call.

Why there is no plan with less data and free call to fulfill the market need.

Now there are still people who are using Non-Smartphone which the phone don't have the capabilities to use internet. Why plan such as Talk-More also been obsolete..

My maxis one plan 128 contract is ending on the 5th of December . I have been checking Maxis site for a cheaper package . I notice they have removed most of the package and only left with the one plan packages .

Hahaha... true before they offer free weekend data.

I ported out from Maxis 3 or 4 years ago due to me using 3G and their 3G suck. I went to Digi and it was ok ok at best, very good for certain places only. Moved to Celcom with First 38 and I'm impressed with the speed. It was serving me quite well in Kepong until their plan get outdated. Decided to port back to Maxis to try again. I think Maxis has improved somewhat compared to when I first ported out. They may not win the Speedtest result, but definitely more stable overall. Besides they do have better offering when it comes to free data. They don't split it and only require 4G. Maxis has been doing 4G way back than any of its competitors. Since I got myself a 4G phone last year, I don't really hate them as much. When I was having problem with their 3G, my wife iPhone 5 4G was already flying. So you do have to hate them for moving most of their bandwidth over to 4G.

Hi,

I've been a Maxis user for maybe 10-12 years until I ported to Celcom and then now with Umobile...

I've been away from Maxis since 4 years ago.  My main problem back then was so many surprise charges
whenever I got my monthly bill.  There were always unexplained charges here and there.  So after being
faithful for a decade, I decided to try others...

I'm quite happy with Umobile because the billing is very clear and there have never been any surprise charges.

However, there is always coverage issue.... so I'm thinking of moving back to Maxis since telcos WW2 now
driving their price down also...

any advise sifus?

If you are umobile. Just be patience give it until next year. I hear say the coverage and stability will improve because they are upgrading their infrastructure.
For me the places i go umobile have better coverage than maxis

I doubt on this.
how much a company willing to spend on capex if their profit is low?

First if you follow through umobile many ppl have switch to umobile so in business term they have potential revenue so they might invest to improve so customers will stay or maintain.

Maxis goal is not to give their customers the best experience but more toward on how to make their shareholders richer that why most of the things they are offering is how to make you spend more.

I am with maxis for 15 years. You know 6 months ago their data packages are a joke. They only give you this boost because of the mess they created by offering secret plan to unloyal customers. Just imagine loyal customers get nothing but people porting out get special plan? Within that mess me and my company are also the ones ported out. Now most friends and family surrounded me not even one still stay with maxis.

The upgrade they given you all lately is not like a reward or benefit to customers more like trying to cover their shame.

Before port out i was paying RM80 no unlimited calls and sms, Data need add RM30 for 1GB (My friend 2months ago also complaint he have 1GB. Until the mess maxis created they suddenly so called upgrade to 3GB then now 5GB. His plan expiring on 15 december 2016. He is also porting out to umobile to try.

Ported out i am paying RM70 for unlimited calls with 15GB data + 7gb video + unlimited music streaming.

If you notice maxis do not have any plan that worth keeping because they under offer and overcharge so when that plan expired it looks not worth

Even now i still have 1 last maxis plan aka Hotlink HYC but if i keep this plan i only get 15cents to all maxis number and 1st 5 message is 5cents then unlimited 1 cent. Data i cannot get free weekend 8GB but i keep it because its my VVVVVVVIP no so i just want use the 365 days to extend validity

Assthrow is also losing customers due to online video streaming like iflix, Netflix.

Assthrow strongest customers base are the diehard sports fans and the Korean % Chinese drama fans.

As more Chinese and Korea drama are available via streaming, assthrowaway will even suffer more and increase their sport packages which will lead to more attrition.

Eventually, in the long run, this biz model is no longer viable

I'm quite happy with umobile for the last 18 months...

I'm working in JB.. and very near their main office so LTE coverage is quite strong.

Only problem is I'm traveling every week. I live alone in JB and wife and kids are near Kajang. Once monthly, while on the way, I will stop by my moms house in Segamat...

So here where the coverage become an issue. While traveling... sometimes I need to check my work for an update (I work in a factory, and the factory working 24/7).

Anyway, still happy with umobile... only that wanting to check what others can offer...
