Pets Family lor.. it's at taman megah. My house is at taman mayang jaya nearby the old limkokwing building. very very near.

are gerbils serious hay-eater...? coz last nite i noticed that the hay in the tank has reduced drastically... so, either the REALLY ate them, or them took the hay in their tunnels (3 tunnels all together)... half of the coconut shell @ cave 'chamber', already filled with hay & wood shaving... so, do i have to add more hay...?

Gerbils are not hay eaters.... more like hay cheweres. I guess your gerbils chewed all the hay till very fine bits and pieces.... must be mixed around in the wood shavings and tunnels heheheh....

i think so lah... that means no need to add more hay la, is it...?

Gerbils love hay hahaha... but I will not give more hay if the tank looks like a messy hay and woodshavings tank... hahahah.... they just like to chew on it. My gerbils like to eat carrots... i cut little wheels in half so look like watermelon piece... then my gerbils eat in a way like eating watermelon ahaahha....

Oh, I read that cooked chicken bones is very good for rats.... but I wonder gerbils can or not since both also rodents and they gnaw on anything. And chicken bones can be a source of calcium too.... but I have not tried this on my gerbils. Successful with my rats...

They don't eat hay, they chewed it. Even if you put a mountain of hay inside the tank, the next day you'll find it flat, all gone. They love to make nest with the hay. Cute huh?

if like that... then most probably 80% of the hay have gone underground la...

haha... well some gerbils will chew the hay and stack it up neatly or make into nests, others chew it and leave it all over the tank, making it messy. Luckily so far mine keep the hay pieces in 1 corner, so it doesnt look so bad

thats y even they don't eat hay, HAY IS SOOO IMPORTANT!! HAHAHA
