Liverpool needs to stop being a feeder academy to clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Having said that, I do feel for lesser known clubs like Southampton and Newcastle where we regularly poached their best players.
While moving from Soto to Liverpool seems like a normal career progression for most players,
but is moving from Liverpool to Barca or RM are being perceived the same manner? Looking at our past transfers, that seems to be the case and it's very very detrimental to our club.
How can Liverpool FC continue their comeback to the European elite if they can't even retain their best players?
We should be poaching MSN from Barca and not the other way round. Afterall, Liverpool is in G14 circle like Barca and RM so our club should be mentioned on the same breath as the former two.
Let's not kid ourselves, it is. In fact, moving to ANY high potential title winner/challenger in the top 4 leagues is a step-up in my opinion. We were only in the G14 because of past achievements that didn't seem that long ago when it was formed. If a new G14 is formed today, there's no guarantee that we would be in it. If we are to reestablish ourselves as European Elites, we must drop the "baggage" and look forward to achieve what we can be instead of constantly looking back at what we used to be.

Last time Arsenal used to be a feeder club to Barca.
But still Arseanal still manage to get Sanchez from BArca, which I think I a remarkable feat. All in all, I think it all comes down to what the players want. But i don't like the fact that Barca (or Real Madrid too) always using the media to circulate all the speculations to unsettle the players.
Hope Coutinho will stay for a few years to come.
There's a difference in getting a player who wants to leave and a player the club wants to offload. Look at the big name players Barca and Madrid have offloaded in the past few years - Sanchez, Ozil, Di Maria, Fabregas, Higuain - what do they have in common? They are all players the clubs are willing to let go because they have acquired better players in those positions. Barca and Madrid very rarely unwillingly lose players especially those in their prime.
