I don't think its limited to high spenders only.

I've been getting waiver / rebate for AF and SST since forever, but I only spend RM1,500 (LFC) and RM2,500 (JOP) per month, just to maximise cashback. I think this is what most people do, but seems like not everyone is lucky.

Edit: Sorry just realise LFC now 2k. In the past was only 1.5k.

Lol, their "Priority Banking" is a meaningless status that many people have. I've never even spoken to my RM before.

All I have is max 100k inside just to make use of the PSA rate (which is better than most FDs).

Also I only got PB recently. Prior to that, AF and SST also "waived" immediately upon request.

Sorry, to clarify, "PB" in this case refers to priority banking. Was just trying to highlight that my Priority Banking status doesn't seem to have anything to do with the AF/SST waiver/rebate.

I got Premium in early 2020, then recently Priority in August.

The first was just an auto random email saying this is your Premium Manager, then Priority was via phone call.

For both cases I definitely did not hold even 100k permanently in the account, although my "transactions in and out" every month were significant. Basically my SCB PSA account is used as a second account every alternate month whenever I transfer funds out from my HSBC Premier (which has a higher interest rate).

Anyway this is really off topic from SCB CC discussion but I wanted to clarify that both "status" don't really mean anything nowadays and looks like they are just relaxing criteria and auto upgrading people. I still believe it's not related to my CC treatment as they also never offer me any higher tier CCs.

Finally can submit my cancellation requests now that the Spend and Win cashback is in. I find SCB cards to be not very user friendly e.g. the app approval; manual cashback redemption with min. value; having to call to request for AF waiver and SST waivers.

I took it in May, and just got paid the RM100.

Now zerorising the balance and proceeding to CANCEL!
