Yep, not much of my own money anyway haha. Grew up in a nikon family, from an FM2, to a D5000, and just recently 'inherited' the d600. Z6 looks tempting, but right now at least, e-mount lenses appears to be cheaper than the z-mount lenses.  tongue.gif

But careful, you need to compare the equivalents eg. 50 f/1.8 S versus the Sony 55 f/1.8.

so i just research Z6 for fun
is the low light noise banding issue fixed in new firmware upgrade?

Also how was the Z6 screen brightness compare to DSLR under the harsh sun light?

this? Cannot elak for mirrorless, cause the phase detect sensor.

yeah, also the LCD screen brighteness under strong sun light?
like my D800 still not visible under very very strong sun light last time in trip , i think my phone is better visibility compare my DSLR screen.
also the preview photo in z6, how was it? D800 looks like overexpose sometimes on preview too
*
Z6 can just peek viewfinder to check photo exposure under sun light tongue.gif, I think still ok la the preview but to judge if over or under I rely on histogram more though (even back in the days using D800).

Yeah all the points you highlighted are also in my mind. Especially the lack of joystick and not being able to use the screen to move AF points while in EVF.

Think it's a good idea to save up for Z6 now, when and where would you recommend getting one? Shashinki?
*
IMO the Type-C and Micro USB isn't a deal breaker to be honest but instead it would be the lack of IBIS for me. Anyways, I'm using Z6 and never used the Type-C for transfer/charging yet, But I guess if you're traveling it would be useful to charge it using a PD power bank.

ShaShinKi price not exactly the most competitive, can consider Times Square level 6 or YL or kldslr, see which offers best price.

haha yeah IBIS forget about that  doh.gif
cuz my current gear no VR one lol. tongue.gif

how about trade in camera, like what shop got offer or need to prepare since i long time no update those info d.
but right now u use camera only like simply shoot only right? and how much GB card u purchased for your z6? brand name and etc since i know nothing about QXD card
*
Using Z6 same as what I do with D800 😆 except it’s even easier with Eye AF. My main subject is my daughter.

Mine came with 32 GB Sony G, bought additional 120 GB Sony G but it’s pretty overkill for Z6 since file size small versus D800’s 36 MP. But I shoot 4K videos so... not too bad.

D800 still can sell second hand, better do it quick. Trade in sure jialat the price.

right now no money and not really intend to sell it haha... since i am not really tempted to change to mirrorless, just marking Z series is the next target , maybe wait for z6 replacement and see since i got other stuff to change like my phone.

120GB can shot how many shot raws?
32GB too how many shots can shoot? XD

i checked z6 all bundle with 24-70 f/4 one, is there any package like selling body only + 24-70 f/2.8 hmm.gif

definitely not change now just kepoh price and make the saving target

also last few night i checked my SC online with upload my lastest RAW file there
guess the number ?  sweat.gif

I think the last time I shoot about 1.2k on 120GB. But included some videos so if purely photos probably more. Bundle is with 24-70 f/4 only, the 2.8 is standalone.

What are your thoughts on the 24-70/4S?
*
Nice size for being a kit lens, but so far I’m using it more for video 😅 quality is alright, well exceeded my expectation la. But still being f/4 means low light will be an issue eventually. But for travel, I guess it’s perfect.

Nikon Confirms that the Z50 Does NOT Have Image Sensor Cleaning

lol u can read from title

Quite a bummer for mirrorless especially since the sensor is exposed to dust during lens change.

Technically speaking dslr has mirror that "sorta" block direct contact to dust in air. But kinda pointless once the mirror start flapping cause the dust will just jump around in the dslr mirror chamber till they settle onto the sensor. Also because the mirrorless sensor is closer to the mount, it is easier to see if got dirt on surface so can quickly clean out before shoot. Often I hear complain from dslr owner, they didnt realise got dirt until they spot the black spot on image or flip the mirror up.
*
What I usually do is before a long shoot, I would just shoot long exposure then move my camera around. Any black dots = dust. But so far so good for my Z6 haven't got the obvious dust sticking on it.

you would be right there.
MTF charts shows the S lenses to be better than sony counterpart.
50 f1.8s > 55 f1.8.
*
Both lens costs a lot compared to the traditional nifty fifty price... and both are new breed of 50mm f/1.8 which even puts some of the pricier 1.4 lens to shame LOL.

Naisu 👍🏻 This lens is sharp edge to edge wide open with CA well corrected. I never liked 50mm cause Nikon offerings were shitty until this 50S came by. Much sharper than my other 2 primes (35 1.4G and 85 1.4G), but 1.8 a bit lacking in terms of bokeh.

85 1.4G has bokeh and acceptable sharpness but the CA is 🤦🏻‍♂️

I see most of them offering Z6 + FTZ + 24-70/4 at MYR9+K, quite a bit below the RRP 12K. Has this been awhile now or is that always the case? I'm currently living in Aus now and the price here is closer to 12K after conversion (not to mention no free XQD card and reader like malaysia) so if I do decide to get it I'll get it once I'm home.
I think my current lens choices can vouch for my style, I currently have a 35/1.8 and 10-20/3.5 for my apsc because I mainly do street/portraits and long exposure (both urban and night trails). I am able to save up for the Z6 system but the dilemma is just - do I need to? The tech junkie inside me wants the best of the best of the best  doh.gif  doh.gif

I bought RM10.2k for kit + ftz in January... I guess Nikon Msia is aggressively pricing it to battle with A7III.

Is there news of pricing or availability of Z50 in Malaysia?
*
I would probably stick to what you have at the moment if you're considering the Z50. I mean, its still crop sensor, plus whatever you can do what you want now with current set up right? Unless of course you need the 4K30 video capability then it is different discussion.

D760 announced.

D500 unlikely I think, considering they already have the Z 50.

But D500 and Z50 is in different tiers though hmm.gif

Top APS-C DSLR vs Top APS-C Z Mirrorless, price range around the same to what I remember.

Well who knows really, D850 and D750 are said to going to have successor.
*
Uhh if you based on that, you got a point. But the Z50 is more like a D7000-ish tier.

hi sifu, need some advice..from D800 to mirrorless system

Nikon Z6 vs Sony A7 III?

a bit interested in Sony A7 III due to size & weight..

my current gear :-
Nikon D800, Nikon 24-70mm F2.8, Nikon 70-200mm F2.8, Nikon 50mm F1.8G, Nikon SB900
*
I happen to be in your shoe previously, and I decided on Nikon Z6. Mainly cause the A7III doesn't feel nice to hold, but the A7R4 is a different story now.

Transition from D800 to Z6 was pretty seamless. And all my lens works fine on the Z6 (1635 f/4, 50 1.8G, 35 1.4G, 85 1.4G, 70200 VR2)

I got the Z6 with kit lens f/4 which is very sharp and compact, later on I also replaced the 50 1.8G to the 1.8S, two totally different quality lens. The 50 1.8S is my sharpest prime which puts even my 85 1.4G to shame by miles.

tq thats inspiring me..give me more strenght to do this..

any big different from D800 to Z6? any improvement?
*
Improvements which I can think off at the moment,

1. IBIS
2. Access to Z-mount which has superior optics vs. the f-mount (50 1.8S is crazy sharp, I never liked 50mm cause the Nikons are crap, my 1.8G buy already never even use much but now the most common lens on my Z6 is the 50mm)
3. Smaller body, lighter!
4. 4K30p video
5. Eye-AF (yay, no need adjust the points manually most of the time, but I do miss the 3D Tracking from D800).
6. XQD is blazing fast when transferring to PC vs. the CF cards I have which are rated 90 MB/s only.
7. WYSWYG live view, well most of the it works la (of course OVF is better, but I'm somewhat used to the lag, so I usually pre click before the snapshot nowadays).
8. Well... another pros I think is the SnapBridge implementation, I shoot RAW but the app is smart enough to convert to jpeg before transfer to my phone. Fuji doesn't do this, need to manually convert on camera to jpeg then only transfer through the app.
9. Tilt screen and touch screen! Well sadly it doesn't have 180 view for selfie like the Z50

All in all I'm happy with Z6, sufficient for me now as I don't do much paid rigs already, though this year am going for Super GT... lets see how well the AF handles panning shots.

wow thats nice..thanks for your explanation..from what i read before af system in Z60 far more better than D800
now i must decide A7 III or Z60
*
I definitely missed the 3D Tracking from D800, generally mirrorless AF is more accurate and doesn't need to fine tune the glass due to the face it has contrast + phase detect.

Oh, but the Sony's AF system is ahead of Nikon to be frank. Nikon's main advantage would be the Z-mount, it has the biggest diameter and shortest flange distance which eventually allows Nikon engineers to develop better lens easier. Sony's E-mount has small opening and not exactly the closest flange, so eventually they will hit some limit optically.

That downward flip screen is horrible!

Not the best position I tend to agree, but at least it has one you can use with selfie handheld (not mounted on tripod).

I guess it can't flip to the top cause of the viewfinder and not sure why they do it like Canon's flip screen to the side.

Hey all, thinking of getting a filter system. Which do you recommend for quality and price?

What filters are you looking to use with? I tried the Kase magnetic mount for ND (15 stops and 16 stops), its convenient!
