I noticed on the Digi Broadband page, there are two tabs:
    Stream FREE
    Stream ON Demand

but the three plans mentioned in either tab is exactly the same.  So WTH does Digi mean by Stream Free and Stream On Demand?

This is extracted from the post,

The free video streaming is limited to just YouTube and Dailymotion. So watching videos from Netflix, iflix, Astro on the go and HyppTV will consume your stream on demand data bucket. Overall, it is quite confusing as Digi has a separate “Stream FREE” and “Stream on Demand” quota. Digi promises that you’ll never use up your internet quota on “Stream FREE” but it never mentions that it is unlimited.

have you finish the 10GB free streaming quota?

it seem after reach quota...throttle according to Digi Customer service.
so my guess,,,since it does not eat your regular 6GB quota..

Youtube become patah kaki for the rest of the month unless you buy the daily Youtube quota.

how much the addon youtube quota and how many GB for how many days?

can check from your newly minted Digi Broadband 30 ar?
*
It has two option for internet quota top up..
Rm20 for BB 10GB free and premium streaming (30days)
Or
Rm25 for BB 10GB (30days)

So the difference between Stream Free and the Stream on Demand is
  • Stream FREE -- Youtube & Dailymotion, apparently "Unlimited" but with 10GB FUP.
  • Stream On Demand -- a whole bunch of streaming services that has a specific data bucket (unavailable for 6GB plan)

Then they shouldn't have put the 3 plans under each tab, because the plans do not change according Free Streaming or On Demand. Poor web design.

do you manage to check is the postpaid have contract with device?
I don't see it stated there.
if no contract it is a good buy as you can get the modem with just RM120..
then cancel the line after 1 month usage

If I terminate my MobiFi contract within the contract period, how much do I need to pay for early termination charges?
Here are the charges:

Mobifi Model Rate Plan Contract Period Penalty Charges
Huawei E5577s LTE Broadband RM60 Broadband RM100 12 Months Flat fee of RM200 (administrative fee) + Monthly Device Fee x Remaining
Huawei E5586s LTE-A Broadband RM100 12 Months Flat fee of RM300 (administrative fee) + Monthly Device Fee x Remaining

Well I was aiming for the RM70-90 bracket.  But there isn't any, except this Maxis one:
    http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/internet/wireless-broadband.html

which isn't very good value for money.

My options now are:

  1. Go for the U Mobile P70 plan (but tested in September my area UM 4G is intermittent)

  2. Go for the Yes Broadband & Postpaid Combo RM78 for 22GB plan (but haven't tested network yet, no TDD phone)

  3. Go for Webe (but no tethering and anecdotal evidence suggest mediocre performance)

  4. Go for Celcom First Gold plan (+RM10 to combine with weekend data) (but I am running away from Celcom in the first place)

  5. Continue with my current Celcom First Gold Internet (7GB + 14GB 2-8am) (coverage good, network unstable)

  6. Bite the bullet and go for the 40GB Digi Broadband plan

Decisions, decisions.
*
One option for me is to go for Broadband 60 (15GB) and then top up 10GB for 30 days at RM25 when I need to.

Then dun sign up lo! Always asked first and confirm before the signup! That's always the safe side. I hope not many people sign up the package if not Digi will be next Celcom!

but..but...

Currently i believe Digi also not sure what they selling at all.
Very Very misleading infomation.

Proudly claim 'Stream Free" NEVER eat up your internet (base quota)

BUT then
FAQ , say after FINISH "hidden TnC 10GB' Stream Free...what happen next

Follow that FAQ where Data Utilization ...eat into Base Internet Quota or Throttle speed?

as per "godslayer84" pointed out
Internet Quota Top-Up have 2 option
(1) RM20 for Free and Premium Streaming 10GB for 30days (this option hint there is a quota for Stream Free which is 10GB)
(2) RM25 for 10GB for 3 days

if it proudly claim NEVER eat up your internet ((Base Internet)) (after quietly reach 10GB allocation data)....Streaming Free should be throttle
BUt then FAQ show otherwise..

Hmm...very very confusing..

Dammit!  I was waiting for my Celcom broadband contract to end before taking up Digi Broadband 85 (15GB + 15GB 2-8am).  Now all my plans spoiled.  Why are Digi & Maxis forcing all this "free" streaming on people with no desire to watch this much video?

Likely my next broadband plan is going to be a normal postpaid phone plan.

Still doesnt change the fact that digi misled the customers by not revealing the hidden 10gb quota on the web, not even in the freaking TnC. Shady business tactic, unethical at best.

NEVER eat up your internet = NEVER deduct any form of quota. Simple english. Stop becoming a white knight to digi's conning tactic. Its very funny that digi reveals the quota for on demand stream like from netflix but NOT for the free streaming. It is not stated anywhere on the website. Therefore it is very misleading.

In my opinion, Digi never tipu its customers, unlimited streaming means 10GB + throttle streaming, if both added also known as unlimited streaming. But then only matter fast or slow only. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

No harsh feelings bro! Just share out what I understand about the statement unlimited streaming for youtube.
