Hi,
Currently I'm driving forte 2.0 with 215/45/r17 Michelin PS3 which I changed in March 2015.
Due to one of the rear tyre hit on a divider, it causes some tear on the side of my right rear tyre.
Based on the tyre shop checking, they recommend to change both the rear tyre while front tyre are still good to go.

Need some suggestion from sifu here. Should I just change all 4 of them or stick to rear tyre replacement only?

1. Look for 2nd hand 215/45/17 PS3 to replace your right rear tyre if your left rear tyre is still usable.
2. Replace both rear tyres if your left rear tyre is unable to be reused, another brand tyre is okay also as long as the rear using the same pattern.
3. If got extra budget, change all 4 pcs to Michelin PS4 or your preference tyres, sell your remaining tyres to your friends, car club member or strangers

Plan to change only both the rear tyre to PS4 while maintaining the other 2 front PS3 (will swap front to rear when I get the new tyre).
The other non tear rear tyre will be used as a spare since my spare tyre already 6 yrs old.

The question is... is it recommended to only change 2 pair of tyre instead of 4?

Yes, no problem on changing 2 pairs only instead of 4. If some shop they might potong you say must change all 4, but I'll recommend change only 2 if your budget is limited or even you have xtra oso change 2 since don't waste the front 2.

2 tire change can be done if the tire has similar grip level,Since you are using the same brand, and almost the same tire, it is alright i guess..

just put the stickier tire behind, then change the front tires after they're done.

Just changed 2 PS4 tyre to the front and old PS3 on the rear..
Price a bit expensive in Penang which is RM470/tyre inclusive balancing and allignment.
While at the shop, one of the dealer is around and mentioned that tyre price going to increase 7% in April.

Anyone know about this? Thanks.

another hike is on march 2017(for most brand),while some of the brands will increase in april about 5-10%.thats what i heard of.

How is the comfort/noise level?

PS4 is a Ultra high-performance tyres
Comfort suits me well (depend on your tire pressure also)
Noise level (can be noisy on rough roads, I'm able to tolerate with music vol louder a bit)
Rolling Resistance (good for a UHP tires, able to clock 600km with 1 full tank 35l fuel)

I'm on PS4s (225/45/17) for about 2 months now.

Very quiet compared to Goodyear and Falkens and the grip is quite phenomenal. Going hard into corners I could never make them squeek and in the rain they're superb. Happy with my PS4 and being made in Thailand (mai pen rrai) the price was cheaper than Conti's CS6. Michelin compounds feel softer than other brands. Just got them rotated at Lim Tayar

Pros: wet performance, braking, price and low noise

Cons: None I can think of. Maybe 20kms later I tell you the wear rate

You mean CSC6? CSC6 is only available from 19' above, not 17'. For 17', can opt for CSC5 which is also very closely matching this new PS4 but yeah probably still higher price also coz still made in European countries.

Btw your tire size is 225/50/17 is it? How much did you pay for it?
