I did read the terms and conditions for Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature.

2% every day and capped at RM 50 cash back.
10% every day and capped at RM 100 cash back for May and August only.

I just want to confirm the cashback eligibility. It seems that the capping of cashback is at cardholder level, and every cardholder will each obtain RM 50 cash back, and RM 100 cash back (in May and August), if the spending amount (RM 1000, and RM 2500) is achieved.

It is not something like the cashback pool that caters for all cardholders, on a first come first serve basis, right?

Thanks for the confirmation. smile.gif It is good to know that some Maybank credit cards offer attractive cashback to us. thumbup.gif

Thanks for your confirmation. notworthy.gif Sorry for being paranoid. sweat.gif I just obey the principle of “caveat emptor” (buyer beware), and want to be on the safe side.

Just as you said, the cashback is granted to each cardholder of Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature, and is same as other credit cards from Maybank. So, it should not be an issue. thumbup.gif

I think that you understand my anxiety. Let me list an example. Let’s assume both cardholders make just a single grocery transaction in a single calendar month.

Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature:
Cardholder A: Use the card on 1st November 2017 to pay for RM 100 worth of grocery in ÆON BiG. Cashback of RM 2 is granted on 1st December 2017.
Cardholder B: Use the card on 23th November 2017 to pay for RM 100 worth of grocery in ÆON BiG. Cashback of RM 2 is granted on 1st December 2017.

ÆON BiG Visa Gold/Classic Card:
Cardholder A: Use the card via Paywave on 1st November 2017 to pay for RM 100 worth of grocery in ÆON BiG. Cashback of RM 5 is granted.
Cardholder B: Use the card via Paywave on 23th November 2017 to pay for RM 100 worth of grocery in ÆON BiG. Since the monthly total cash rebate pool (that caters for all cardholders, for Visa Paywave transactions) is depleted, no cashback is granted.

So, for cardholders of ÆON BiG Visa Gold/Classic Card, transactions must be performed as early as possible in a calendar month. However, for Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature, the cardholder has the freedom to spend anytime in a calendar month, as the 2% cashback belongs exclusively to that cardholder.

Yeah, as you said, I was overthinking too much. tongue.gif Alright, I should just enjoy using Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature, as it is, for general spending. smile.gif

The Maybank Customer Service Hotline for Signature and Platinum Credit Cards is 1800-88-1801.

I recalled that during the transition to Pin-and-Pay credit cards early this year, there is another Maybank landline number (03-xxxxxxxx) to call, to check the delivery status of the credit card.

Even if we call 1800-88-1801, our call will be forwarded to this landline number.

Can anyone here post the landline number here?

My application for Barcelona was applied and approved via Maybank2u website late last week. But, as of yesterday, Maybank Customer Service said that my tracking number was not available yet. rclxub.gif

It is just my personal opinion.

The name "Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature Card" may be too long to be inserted as the name of the credit card in Maybank2u website.

Thus, Maybank choose to shorten the name to "Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Card" in Maybank2u website.

Noted, thanks. I wonder why not in jompay, it's Visa cc, not Amex..
*
Normally, for any credit cards (from Maybank and other banks), cash back and reward points are not given for JomPay transactions.

Yes, I am fully aware that for Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card, 2% cash back is given for all purchases.

Maybe, the exclusion of Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card from the list of credit cards that can be chosen for JomPay transactions is an indirect message from Maybank that no Cash back is given for JomPay transactions charged to Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card.

It is just my personal opinion, though.

overpayment is CREDIT.
i was suggesting maybe, just maybe it was the DEBIT that helped

if you have done BT overpayment and claimed refund,
no harm try it on MBVS card next time.
*
Is it easy to persuade Maybank CS to transfer BT overpayment in your Maybank Visa Signature Card, to your saving account? hmm.gif

Some CS may be reluctant to transfer the BT overpayment, and just say that the BT overpayment will be used to deduct the transactions posted in next statement month. mad.gif

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Nov 4 2017, 07:45 PM)
from the monthly CB, u can see i swiped way below the max RM1766, noway near RM30k, maybe only RM12-15k.
*
Your Estimated Total Amount of Transactions Debited to Maybank Visa Signature Card = RM 15k + RM 8725.79 = about RM 24k

It is still lower than the required spending amount of RM 30k per year, for the automatic annual fee waiver. Or, did you have another BT overpayment in the past few months?

Anyway, it is good for you to get annual fee waiver your Maybank Visa Signature Card, for two consecutive years. thumbup.gif

Yeah, it is a good thing that the cashback for FCB VS is not FCFS. So, we can spend anytime within May to gain 10% cashback, as long as the transactions are posted within May.

In Public Bank Credit Card thread, I believe that no one has posted that online cashback is given, when Public Bank Visa Signature or Public Bank Quantum MasterCard is used for Online Passport Renewal (https://eservices.imi.gov.my/myimms/myPassport).

Well, the safest way for me is to use Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card, at that website, to renew my passport.

For Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature, 10% Cash back capped at maximum of RM 100 will be given during May. So, in general, we should spend RM 1000, in order to get maximum cashback of RM 100.

Suppose that I charged the following transactions to my card.
RM 365.35
RM 592.45

What is minimum amount of another transaction that I should perform, so that I can get maximum cashback of RM 100?
I calculate that it should be RM 42.30.

Cashback = RM 36.53 + RM 59.24 + RM 4.23 = RM 100.

As a result, my total spending for May is RM 365.35 + RM 592.45 + RM 42.30 = RM 1000.10.

Is my calculation correct?
Thank you. smile.gif

Yeah, as in my case, I need to spend 10 cents more to get maximum cashback of RM 100, due to rounding down effect in the cashback calculation.

So, Maybank FCB VS is the only Maybank card whereby its cashback is rounded up, right?

For such fraudulent credit card transactions, the general advice given here is to call the bank to block the credit card, and request the bank to give us a new credit card (with new card numbers, and new CVV code).

In such case, are we cardholders required to pay for RM 50 card replacement fee?

As per their TnC is following card expiry month
*
Yeah, Maybank SST FAQ states that SST is charged on card expiry month. Then again, Custom SST FAQ states that SST is charged on card anniversary month (card approval month).

If that is the case, Maybank SST charging does not fully complies with Custom SST FAQ, particularly in the case in which Maybank cardholders have many credit cards.

Example:

First Maybank Credit Card: Approved on November 2015.

Second Maybank Credit Card: Approved on April 2016.

Third Maybank Credit Card: Approved on December 2017.

In this example, the expiry month embossed on all 3 credit cards is November.

For the second Maybank Credit Card, the cardholder is at losing side. Rightfully, based on Custom SST FAQ, SST for second Maybank Credit Card should be charged on April 2019, but is charged instead on November 2018.

As such, for the second Maybank Credit Card, it is unfair that the cardholder loses out on SST-free period from November 2018 to March 2019. Maybank should rightfully impose the SST, based on anniversary month of each individual credit card, not the anniversary month of the first Maybank Credit Card. Annual fee of the relevant Maybank credit cards (if any, payable to Maybank, not government), can still be imposed on the anniversary month of the first Maybank Credit Card, as per usual practice.

Can we lodge a complaint to Maybank, citing poor compliance with Custom SST FAQ?

4842-81 was allocated for M2 Visa Platinum since 2011.
FCB VS uses the same BIN since 2017.
Maybe Maybank could not get a new BIN for FCB VS, or FCB VS and M2 VP will merge in future!

QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Oct 6 2018, 05:18 AM)
Lol even the regular VS that charged annual fee using the same bin

Judging from the BIN, both Maybank Visa Signature and FC Barcelona Visa Signature Cards are recognized as Visa Platinum Cards.

So, that is why the annual fee for Maybank Visa Signature Card posted in the credit card transaction history will have the description of "ANNUAL FEE VISA PLATINUM PRINCIP (SR)". hmm.gif

don't dare to try +3 days.
you're kidding right?
Although it is a calculated risk, it is bold and courageous for you to do so. thumbup.gif So, you are keeping the cash for two more days, in savings account / fixed deposit account to gain more interest, right? brows.gif

So, CCRIS record still shows zero? And, there is no issue with actual payment date being 2 days later than the payment due date? Bank will not perceive the cardholders who pay the full statement balance two days later than payment due date, as bad paymasters?

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong for anyone here to double confirm whether the banks really do provide nice features for the credit cards.

Sometimes, some of us may be sceptical of banks' 'supposedly nice' intentions to reward customers, because the banks are driven with the ruthless and relentless objective to generate profits from customers. We need to read between the lines of the terms and conditions of the banking products, in order to detect any possible undesirable intentions of banks.

Here, many of us forum users share our real-life experience of using the credit cards, without any ill intentions or sugar-coating. Proven, safe and legitimate methods of getting cashback is shared here for benefits of forum users here.

Alright, it is just my opinion. No offense intended. smile.gif

The last payment amount is likely to be the 2% cashback for FCB VS Card, not the payment made by starry.

QUOTE(alexanderclz @ Dec 2 2018, 06:11 PM)
to be safe, always pay statement balance.
*
Maybank generally treats cashback as a part of the payment for statement balance. So, there should not be any financial charges, if starry makes a payment of statement balance minus cashback.

For CIMB Bank, it is a must to pay statement balance, and cashback must be disregarded for the payment of statement balance.

I would like to ask about tax refund in foreign country. Sorry, it is slightly off topic, but is slightly similar to the recent issue of refund transaction wiping out all cashback.

It is highly recommended to use a non-cashback credit card, for the purpose of tax refund in foreign country. Then again, since the implementation of card service tax, many of us here have terminated less useful credit cards, so many of us may not have any non-cashback credit card.

Do Customs in foreign countries accept debit cards, for the purpose of tax refund? That way, we would avoid the issue of refund wiping out all cashback. Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature is one of the cashback credit cards affected by this issue.

Plus, we can straight away withdraw the refund in the form of cash from the savings account linked to the debit card.

Thank you for your information. smile.gif

I successfully used Visa Direct (provided by Maybank and Public Bank respectively) before, and I can transfer fund to my overseas debit card. The fund is reflected in the savings account linked to the debit card, so there is not issue at all to withdraw the money from a ATM with that debit card.

Back to the question of tax refund in foreign country, the overseas Customs are considered as the merchant in the payment card transactions. I have not tried before, but Customs should be able to charge the refund amount to a debit card.

Since the refund amount will be processed via Visa and MasterCard payment network, it does not matter whether the card is a credit card or debit card, logically speaking from the Customs point of view. The only difference is that Customs should pay less merchant discount rate, if the refund amount is charged to a debit card.

Anyway, I am suggesting debit cards to be used for tax refund in foreign country, so that we can avoid tax refund wiping out all cashback given to a credit card.

If it is unavoidable to charge the refund amount to a credit card, it is best not to use that credit card for a month, or until the cashback of the month has been posted to that credit card.
