So I'll go for option 2... seems like Quad doens't sound that good to me... biggrin.gif

Thanks for helping me with the decision..

Not to discourage you but you can't compare Quad core to single or dual. Of course, if you have more cores, the CPU will be hotter! Until and unless they come out with an energy efficient model.

So, I presumed you're getting the E6600? IMO, that's a good choice, will last for at least for a few years rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

higher series is better,

pro: higher core speed, deliver more instruction.

con:consume higher watt, produce more heat...

E6650 hv higher FSB 1333MHz, but need a mobo that can support that fsb, currently nvidai 680i, 650i based board, intel g33,p35 basd board, some of p965 (bios update) can support this fsb

I should think so. Even for the 22nd April price cut, the prices in lowyat changed almost at the same time.

Can't remember, but I think there were a few vendors who changed their prices before that??? hmm.gif

yup... it can be said so...

Intel FSB is quad-pumped, means 266 x 4 = 1066 Million transfers per second, thats how the FSB is derived. To determine RAM clock, multiply the base FSB by 2, eg: 266*2 = 533 MHz, which means that at 1066 MT/S, the maximum RAM clock can be supported is DDR2-533 MHz

however there might be RAM ratio like those seen in AMD's RAM divider, to make RAM work at different speed than processor, not sure how this implemented in intel

seriously?i thought it somehow backward compatible. damn, then i have to wait for mobo with FSB 1333MHz to become mainstream first. will delay my new PC even longer..haih
