Look at how big the box is. It's humongous! It's as tall as my kitchen counter if u look carefully at the pix. How tall is that? Just go to ure kitchen n imagine the box is as tall as ure kitchen cabinets.









Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, King Kong's new cage is coming out. Even just peeking out like that, u can see just how lovely that aluminum chassis is.

Since one of our dear forumer deemed this post as spam, I shall now insert some opinions into my post.

First of all, this case is huge. It is admired by other forumers in another forum and is taken to be one of the best cases around.

Btw, yup, it's full aluminum and that means light weight(weighing at 12.9kgs, it is light, considering its size) too

I believe it also has good air flow, as it has 4 120mm blowholes and 2 92mm blowholes for fans.

I personally do not own this case as it's kind of expensive, with a pricetag of RM1k ++

I think the casing is sponsored by SilverStone. As said by uncle, this will be his main rig. So, I think he will relocate his hardwares(currently in the Lian-Li) into this Tj07. I guess he'll use the Lian-Li as his surfing rig

OK. The pix editing is done. Here comes more pix of the case.

Front 3 quarters view. That's the most beautiful part of this case. That front panel is actually 1 whole piece of aluminum starting from the top to the front to the bottom. The case consists of that single piece n the 2 side panels. Looooooovely. Just lovely.

Top of the case. It's got a really nice exhaust with 2x120mm fans up there. I can install a really nice 2x120mm radiator there if I ever get back into watercooling.














Rear view. Look at the bottom section. It can take 2 PSUs.

Well, that's all I can do tonight. I just got home with the case just now. Will commence with the mods ASAP.

Btw, I saw the internals are white in colour. Aren't they supposed to be aluminum? Or are those just sticker to protect the interior from scratches?

I think uncle will firstly cut a side window for this baby. About the next, I'm too sure.. How about adding some wheels to give this case some mobility?

I'll be using the current hardware I have now in my main rig with a few new parts in it. Quad core, I will wait for the real monolithic quad cores instead of the current "fake" 2 in 1 Conroes.




I'm not abandoning the LL V1200B. The mods will continue.

It really is tough as nails. The single piece chassis construction is made using automotive panel stamping machines. Really solid.







It's silver aluminum. Mebe the exposure of the pix makes it look whitish. I'm currently undecided on wheels or bling bling case feet.

Well, I read the article in that link u provided. I certainly dont haf any probs with the build quality n the stuck side panels, HDD cages n all that. Everything fits n works perfectly in mine. I suppose those problems were the 1st batch of cases.

Added on February 1, 2007, 8:53 pmHad sum spare time on my hands just now. Stripped the case down to study the structure n construction of the case. This will allow me to get more ideas on what to mod n how to mod it later. There's a lot of things to study b4 really getting down to modding it coz this case is really modular. It's like a box of Lego blocks. practically the whole case can be stripped down n removed to individual parts. So far I've only seen 3 rivets. The rest r all screws. Anyway, here's a pic of the mobo tray removed.






See how bare the case is after removing the mobo tray? That's because it's so modular. The mobo tray's rails can b removed too. That leaves just the 2 support bars standing at the back. I'm thinking BTX style conversion to make it like my LL V1200.

Interior paint? There's no paint. It's just silver alu. No paint at all. Scratches? What scratches?

It's original colour.

It is the special patern that most aluminum case possess ..

imagine the hole case shine like the mobo tray ,,, u would being blinded with the flash and reflection from the case ...

that's why most alunimun case has the whole exterior design with non reflective surface ... but it also caught thumb print easily ..

hopefully all the King Kong Series worklog will be complete, otherwise keep see New King Kong unfinished worklog...

I've been studying the structure n also checking out some mods on the net for ideas. I started a part of the major mods today. I'm gonna strip out everything, n I mean EVERYTHING. Remember I told u guys this case is like a box of Lego blocks? Well, it really is. Check out the stripping work below.





Started by removing the mobo tray, tray rails n the top exhaust fans n mesh mounting.










View from the top.











Sum pix of the chassis mounting joints. They're all screwed together. This 1 is a pic of the lower part of the ROM cage.









Side view of the ROM cage.











Top of the ROM cage.













After removing all those screws, the entire ROM cage structure comes out just like that.










It's now time to remove that divider plate between the mobo n PSU sections of the case. I hafta remove the USB ports at the front n sum screws on the sides b4 I can remove the divider plate.










That's all for the day folks. It's late now n I gotta get sum sleep. No more Vampire mods nowadays. I'll continue with more work on it 2moro.

Don't worry, more updates coming up later in the day. The mods r gonna progress pretty quick now as I haf cleared off my backlog of other mods at last. I also can't wait to get my hardware into this super nice case.





Yes the alu is a lot thicker. The main unibody section(the U shaped part which makes up the top, front n bottom) itself is 4mm thick in the mid section n 8mm thick on the rim section. Here's a pic to show u what I mean.

really great casing...use screw than rivet.can separate the part easily

no wonder the price also more expensive ... the alu is so thick ..

i really wonder cutting through it will be hassle or not..

Updatesssssss..


Got down to more stripping work. In fact I stripped it down totally until nothing left.


After removing the USB ports, I removed the divider plate. Here's how it looks like without the divider.














It's already pretty bare but there's more stuff to remove. The HDD cages.














Everything is now removed except for the PSU mounting plate at the back. Look at all those parts that have been removed! It's my loooooooooovely box of Lego blocks.












Here's how the chassis looks like now. Absolutely bare except for the PSU plate. I left it on coz it doesn't affect my work on the case. Actually the 2 bars at the back n the PSU plate can b removed too. Then all u'll b left with is the main Aluminum Unibody(the U shaped part).















That's it for today. I will get down to the serious stuff 2moro. Actually, b4 I do that, I'll remove the 2 rear bars n the PSU plate too just to show u guys how the TJ07 looks like when it's completely dismantled. It will be naked right down to the Unibody section 2moro. I bet none of u haf seen a case completely stripped down like that b4. Watchout for more updates 2moro.

hmm . it can be dissemble down to the most naked strip...

it really required hell a lot of designer idea to come out with such case ..

Here's what I did today.

Time to remove everything. Absolutely everything!


1st thing I did was to remove the rivets holding the mobo tray's rail on the divider plate. U can c the rail on the divider here.









Turned it over so I can access teh rivets from the back.









drill drill drill n it's almost out.











The dreaded rivets r out! Begone u evil rivets. I sentence u to Ian's Dungeon of Obsolescence forever!













Now it's time to remove everything from the Unibody chassis. Removing the screws holding the rear alu pipes to the Unibody in this pix.

Now u can c y the unibody chassis is so strong. C how the thing is actually expanding outwards instead of the normal square shape. It's pretensioned like a spring. That gives the chassis extra strength.















Wokeh, the stripping is done. I will commence on the actual modding 2moro.




edit: have any of u guys ever seen a case stripped down to this extent? Now, that's what I call a really cool case.

by the looks of it, this casing can really play with air flow, can strip down to its bare frame so more wahlau.....really interesting design

yo chief... the mobo tray.... is it possible to convert the 2x92mm exhaust fans to accomodate 1 (or mebbe 2) 120mm fans? got enough space ah??

i find the 2x92mm exhaust fans to me a major turn off for me with the TJ07. as awesome as this case is... that totally puts me off this case.

Actually it's not a big deal. All u hafta do is remove those rear fans n just use sum filters there. The 2x 120mm fans on the top is more than enuf to pull all the hot air out of the case. The 2x 120mm fans at the bottom contributes a lot of intake too. There's so much intake down there, the cool air is bound to get sucked up tru the holes in the divider plate. So the cool air will come in from the bottom n the 2x 90mm holes on the back n then get exhausted tru the 2x 120mm exhaust at the top.






It's now a sexy looking naked case.

It's not gonna affect my work on the case at all so I just left it there.

i personaly don't think ianho will mod the main body of that casing. that is the sexy part of this casing.

I can't imagine the casing was stripped to the max

i never see casing like this...most of the casing still using rivet to attach each part and not all the part can be remove easily.

Yes it is rather expensive. This model, the TJ07 is rm1200. Then there is the TJ09 at rm1100. BUT these 2 cases r the flagships. There is also a lower range that's more reasonable at about rm400-500.

but for Silverstone casing,only TJ07 has PSU section below right?other still like normal casing.

don't forget TJ09 also same.

i mean TJ07 come with PSU chamber to separate the PSU and the mobo components

Sry for the lack of updates guys, I've been playing around with the case n it's parts n trying out different configs n stuff. I also spent the time brainstorming for ideas on the mods I'm gonna do for it. I'm 95% happy with my ideas already. Got almost all the ideas I want so it's down to mod mod mod in the next few days. Once I start modding it, it's gonna be fast n furious as I have a deadline to meet.

No lar. Not problems. Just havent thought out everything. Usually the last 5% u will only encounter once u start modding. That is when u hafta sort out the little details as they appear while building the rig.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, look what I got for Valentine's Day. It's a gift from my wife so that I will haf a perfect King Kong II Workstation. It's what I call the Matrix chair. The actual model I got is called the Ergo Human EH. It's so looooooooooooooovely. This completes my dream workstation. Totally 1337 monitors, chair, PC, blinged up TJ07 case. Perfect, just absolutely perfect. Once I complete the TJ07 build, I will take a pic of the whole revamped King Kong II Workstation.

Fantastic chair next to my fantastic case.










Look at the lovely design, perfect lumbar n neck support. All nice n lovely curves on the aluminum construction just like the TJ07.











This chair is so perfect it's fully adjustable. The seat pad can adjust in or out, seat height up n down, seat back angle, seat back height, headrest height. everything is adjustable.










Now all I need is to finish up the TJ07 build to make my workstation perfect.
