Agree!!! no more stupid tripod for just few photos but burden the whole trip.

then bump up ISO. high iso with enough exposure isn't that bad for noise. even in daytime shooting with iso 400 or 800 with higher shutter speed sometimes looks better to me. sharp + a little bit noise better than clean + a little bit blur.
*
Got spoiled by olympus 5-axis IBIS for years, there's so much lesser chance to use tripod now. Last few occasion where I use monopod was just to reduce burden of large lens and long shooting hour.

Panasonic to close three departments and cut jobs

More job cuts at Panasonic as losses continue to pile up for the the electronics giant, the MoneyDJ reports.

According to reports, the company will be closing three departments that are not making money, named as digital camera, private branch exchange (PBX), and compact disc.

There are also plans to sell the LCD production line, the semiconductor business, and the solar cell business.

One of the two LCD production lines at Hyōgo, Japan is going to cease production soon, as the company searches a buyer for the facility.

In 2012, Panasonic suffered significant losses after its plasma display panel (PDP) division failed. The company cut a large number of jobs, ended its television production lines in USA and mainland China, and stepped out of the smart phone market.

The latest round of job cuts is another significant change made by the company since its major restructuring in 2012.

Hopes that this 'digital camera' department not affecting their m43 / compact system business.

guys, wanna ask u guys for opinion. i m getting a camera for short trip and also to snap my toddler photo. im thinking of getting an used EP5. what do you guys think about the EP5? i personally likes the design of EP5 as it looks really retro. another camera which i quite interested is the GF9.. any other camera which provides excellent image quality, noise handling and colour rendering besides the OMD series? budget is a problem too biggrin.gif
*
OMD EM10 mark 1/2 or even trusted EM5 also good choice biggrin.gif

You hand-held the shots is it? Really quite sharp this Rokinon 7.5mm. Love the greens wub.gif

A bit too wide for me too sweat.gif

I think 9mm (after converting the 12-32 with a wide-angle converter) is the widest for me at the moment, can't accept the distortion at the background sometimes, but this can be easily corrected in pp.
*
I briefly tested 9-18, 9mm really was wide and good, but still itchy want widest. That day met one photog that used to own Samyang 7.5 and he said sharp enough, if defish still usable hmm.gif

QUOTE(sai86 @ Apr 4 2017, 08:41 PM)
yeah. hand held. gotta crop off the corner and straighten it in PP/LR  biggrin.gif
why la lens price won't drop like body pricing  tongue.gif

Most of the shots from my 9mm (converted 12-32) are surprisingly straight enough unless you observe closely, very little straightening needed. But for the 7.5 I am pretty sure you will need straightening or 'de-fish' is this the term photog use (like someonesim) to straightening a hugely distorted image he he..learn a new word notworthy.gif

Lenses are better investment in the long run than cam bodies which is true in the old days but apparently this trend has become rather blur/obsolete in the digital world as newer more modern versions are produced, even more so for cam bodies. One lens I find that defies this is the Panny 20/1.7, still a gem in our m4/3 world, hey it is the one and only 20mm lens! I have my 1st 20mm in 2009 and I still have one in my bag, 8 years later  notworthy.gif Though I don't shoot it much this days.
Ya our curiosity sometimes got the better of us and we just had to have a hands-on, itchy mah... laugh.gif

Pros and cons of not live in Japan, difficult to test lens.
I spend just one hour at Japan's camera store ( a relatively small branch only ) and spend RM10XX already cry.gif Cant imagine the damage if I have more time shakehead.gif

GF8 no doubt thumbsup.gif despite it being a 16mp sensor only but its newer, smaller and has much more lens selection. But if you can get a cheaper A5000 then why not?
*
Sony festival/promo now I think, A6000 about 2.3K only but I rather top up a bit and get EM5 + 12 50 ( weather seal rclxms.gif )

Typo: It's A6000

The following link is from a reviewer at last year's 2016 Photokina using a prototype of the lens and seems he has some positive views of the lens, have a read:

3d-kraft on Laowa 7.5mm f2.0

Now accepting pre-orders at venuslens pre-orders. I have ordered mine (the lightweight version), I just couldn't resist this lens  wub.gif which I have been waiting for quite some time to come along. I haven't seen any rectilinear lens for m4/3 at that wide and at f2.0!! I am heavily poisoned wub.gif

Price: US$499 (+/- RM2.1k) for the standard version and US$519 (+/- RM2.2k) for the lightweight version.

My bad, I thought it's fisheye laugh.gif
Now it looks like worthy investment hmm.gif

If got buyer for BOTH 12-40 and 40-150 biggrin.gif Initially I wanted that 12-100, one lens to tabao all normal to slight tele focal, but price and fact that I have 40-150 ( and LOVE it ) kept me away whistling.gif

biggrin.gif i'm a cheapskate. still waiting someone to sell at around RM2k.
12-100 f4 vs 12-40 f2.8,  hmm.gif  the extra stops or longer reach.

i heard that in the next few mths, Oly will announce a new camera?
*
I really dont mind the f4 aperture, since I shot almost all my photos starting f4 on my 12-40 anyway tongue.gif

EM5 m3 ? EM10 m3 ? hmm.gif

Agreed, the JJC version is 1/3 the price of the Olympus version but still not cheap at +/-us$30. The hood I got from taobao is so cheap i didn't bother to remember he he thumbsup.gif
*
I bought a replacement hood for 12-40 pro from JJC, cant say cheap but still way cheaper than absurdly priced Olympus one. The JJC one even have opening for filter ( presume for CPL adjustment )

Broken, not by drop but by squeeze too much in cramped bag sweat.gif the thin metal ring came off, initially I super-glued it back but after few months of similar squeezed/cramped in tight bag, some thin-plastic-clamp mechanism broke off and not usable anymore.

my em5 mode dial, at P and A mode, when touch a bit, it will jump from P to A vice versa

not big deal, but I wonder if I anyone had same problem? how much to fix?
*
Possibly it's the infamous mode dial cap loose/off. Does it happen only between these 2 mode ?
