A pro lugging around an extra heavy gear look even more ridiculous as that heavy gear will eventually wear him down much faster than our little machines, he will envy you each time you pass him by with your chest out and he with his chest in catching air whistling.gif  rclxms.gif

Bring lots of batteries cos they die really really fast.

Put your camera inside airtight plastic bag after before going back into heated indoor environment to protect against condensation. Let the temperature rise equalize slowly.

Don't change lens in the snow.

Nice tips on the airtight plastic bag. I'm going hokkaido during CNY, and was warn by others that battery life will become half sweat.gif

haven't tested out the bazooka yet, it's still in the drybox for now lol

Look at the size of that bazooka biggrin.gif although consider tiny next to DSLR's bazooka tongue.gif
How is the weight and handling ?

QUOTE(bobds78 @ Jan 1 2017, 11:37 PM)
Whoa rm6k for the lens? Do you think this is reasonable?

Ya the 12/1.4 is a killa! How much they sell?
*
Oly 40-150 pro + teleconverter ( 56-210 ) about 6K already.

QUOTE(incubus_skj @ Jan 1 2017, 11:59 PM)
Well I shoot events and my Pana 35-100mm doesn't always zoom as far as I want it to when I need to shoot close ups of the stage area or some sniping shots, for example (especially since the General Election is just around the corner)

And seeing that an Oly 40-150mm (extra 50mm) costs around the same price, and the Oly 300mm costs 11-12k.. it's a steal for me already, considering that the G85 handles very well even in 1600 and 3200 ISO

Cant remember the price for the 12mm but it was around 4k iirc
*
Imagine if Panasonic have native teleconverter ( I recall they dont have ) with 100-400 biggrin.gif

If I havent get Olympus 40-150 pro, and with lots of cash, the Oly 12-100 + Pana 100-400 can tabao almost all focal needed whistling.gif

Haiz, cant upgrade body at all, EM1 II too expensive ( I'll pay that price tag if ISO performance and dynamic range are on full frame level ), cant go Panasonic as all my lens Olympus ( cant take advantage of Panny's dual I.S ) cry.gif

I have also moved 100% to Panasonic to take advantage of the dual-IS thing but mind you, not all are compatible doh.gif

Here's the list of compatible lenses, might not be the latest list, all latest lenses should support dual is like the 100-400

[attachmentid=8362343]
*
That's why. If other way round, any lens even manual lens are possible to utilize IS on Olympus body.

I had to use grips on my old E-M5's because the heavier lens (like the 35-100mm or even the 75mm) will make it very difficult to hold the camera...
*
I had this brand tripod also, solid product survive falls and dirty water whistling.gif

JB camera was good brand, had one for my EM5 laugh.gif

I'm considering MeFOTO, looks very compact and lightweight but very stable and reliable.

Don't know which to decide though, Backpacker is great, but the GlobeTrotter Air is so tempting as well @_@
*
I heard it's good brand with low price.

Advantages of m4/3 is light weight, no need worry about ballhead load capacity. Last time I have a fake gorillapod, it can handle EM5 + 17mm f1.8 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(yusripp @ Feb 8 2017, 11:24 PM)
hi guys,

Just got my hands on the M.Zuiko 75-300mm II. I gonna go to LIMA17 for the airshow. Just wanna ask as this lens don't come with lens hood with it.
(Olympus love to sold it separately  vmad.gif )
Do I really need a lens hood for this lens? It come with Oly "ZERO" coating tech and I paired with a Kenko MC UV filter.
And I do know this lens have a problem with "lens creep" issue eventhough the hood will only weight few grams..
*
I had 75-300 II last time, bought a 3rd party hood ( JJC ), very useful to block sunlight from side.

Never had thought about the drop in contrast before. But i guess it true as the hood does focus the light to the lense and preventing stray light from going to. Thanks
Yup i know as I was the one that wanna buy your 75-300mm before, but kinda stuck with low cash that time. Seem like maybe need to order the JJC LH-J61E for it then. The JJC is build using plastic or metal? I want to reduce weight as much bcoz this lens do creep alot.
*
Sure plastic, but good enough quality. Warning, it wasnt small per se.

I always buy hood becoz I hate to put filter on my lens... Hood is like a protection for my lens.
*
Hahaha ya, I dont have filter on the rest of lens except 12-40 pro ( hood too small cant act as protection ).

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Feb 10 2017, 10:32 AM)
Why you sell your 75-300mm?

My E-P1 is still using 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Lens (attached with m43 to 43 converter). Autofocus is good enough for normal usage although still got a bit of hunting.
*
Focal are far than what I need ( except when moon are big and pretty and I wish I had that 300mm x 2 focal smile.gif ) so I sold and aim 40-150 pro better IQ and suitable focal. Now with MC14 I got from Japan, it's complete rclxms.gif

D3400 I'm afraid will suit me more.. snapbridge is gonna be important for me.
A6000 with 50mm f1.8.. produce awesome quality. their lens is pretty expensive.. nifty 35mm for em is rm1.4k. lol ps i sold it with marginal lost.. price went up hahaha..

ps i think the other camera makers will soon increase their price as well.
*
Many already, ie Olympus ranting.gif look at the price for the new product launched doh.gif

Another wondering, why not aim A7 series whistling.gif I'm still waiting A7 3rd gen, almost jump ship to A7 II when rumor of EM1 II's high price, but A7 II bad battery life and heard some electronic QC issue laugh.gif

Damn i should have bought A7II earlier on when the price was still RM4k for it's body! now the body plus lens is close to RM7k... went up dramatically.

Anyway after long consideration and i have to agree with the comments provided.. I'll be getting EP5 with it's 17mm f1.8. Should be sufficient for me to shoot. has WIFI, IBIS, 2 dials for manual control.. Review back the picture i took i've actually took the most picture with my GX1 with oly 25mm f1.8 previously.

*The D3400 only has snapbridge and good battery life upon further looking into the details.. it's lacking in alot of area.. autofocus.. controls.. etc.
I'm not willing to spend more than rm5k as well hence being the cheap me.. I'll just go for an old camera with a good prime lens.  laugh.gif
When i really shoot for $$$ i'll consider upgrading la.. haha
*
Good choice are EM10 II ~ 2.4K, a mini EM1 / 5 biggrin.gif
EM5 II even better with weather sealing ~ 3.6K

If you love 35mm ( or 17mm in m4/3 ) can hold on a while, as there's rumor of 17mm f1.2 PRO lens drool.gif
