New gadget for the month! The latest Aputure Amaran F7 LED light!

user posted image

Product Link

Can adjust the lighting temperature from 3200K-9500K

You can also adjust the lighting power manually from 1-100%

Most people use it for video but I plan to use it for portraits at really shitty-lit areas where I want to have my subject's face to be lit up in my preferred temperature (use flash so mafan have to use gel and bounce like gila) in addition to my flashes from the sides and back

Gonna be using it this weekend so I'd prolly post up a short review and sample pics if they turn out nice
Also bought a 18" Meking ring light from Lazada last month, tested it out a few times and if anyone is interested I'll give a review for it too laugh.gif
*
Please do review it, wish to know if it's strong enough or not.

from my experience it is useful but it cannot replace a proper flash in poor lighting in terms of lighting powah!
one thing i like about this led light is you get what you see meaning live view lighting unlike flash where you have to snap first then see what you get.
the bad is turn on time is more than a flash and battery drain fast. the F7 battery last 40min at max power if im not mistaken and believe me you tend to turn it on most of the time - we are photographers and photographers love light, lot and lots of light.  laugh.gif
also i have video light unlike flash.

anyway just my opinion, please share your experience.  thumbup.gif

I used to have loaned small/medium LED light ( about 20x13cm ), it's quite dim that barely makes a different in normal room lighting. It can last over an hour, I think that's why not bright.
That's why I'm interested at good bright video light.

Agreed nod.gif

True that is another area where smartphones will take away a whole chunk of compact cameras business. Sad as it is but that's what it is. Phone camera nowadays is so convenient and some can take pretty darn good photos. Technology rules! sweat.gif
*
Highest end smartphone like iPhone X and Pixel series even can capture 4K video better than system camera.
I shot below with Pixel XL ( 1st gen ) single hand-held, the software IS are crazy.

true for canon also.
rumors flying around they the FF will come with dedicated adapters that will not degrade performance or like you said native mount.
we shall see.

it is not economically viable for them to launch a new line of mirrorless lenses tis late in the game.
*
I hope they goes both way, launching new mirrorless lens that's compact and lightweight, while have option/adapter for their vast range of FF lenses.
They need to dedicate their resource and determination, not the half ass job previous. Time to replace their low to mid range DSLR with mirrorless biggrin.gif

It's almost magical when stationed, but quite weird ( robotic feel ) when panning.
My another demo.

Forward shooting is quite impressive but the sideway pans is.. ya, very robotic doh.gif

Then make sure you don't pan with your wrist but turn with your body instead  thumbup.gif

Use my EM1 for smoother transition, quite stable also. I know some pro using EM1 for video, even to shoot commercial.

Shoot with EM1 + 40-150mm PRO + EC14, handheld biggrin.gif Issue is focusing, stabilization superb rclxm9.gif

Just realized I'd shamelessly promoting my video tongue.gif

From the leaked/rumored photo, I like what Nikon FF mirrorless looks like, big lens/mount + not-too-big body.

i find they are more comfortable and versatile for long outings but very few hiking backpack comes with a lot of compartments.

I use those pouch/case with adjustable compartment. Enough for light travel usage ( 1 body w lens + 1 lens + flash/batteries )

I hate to see many 'pirated' version of PD bag, because it turn me away knowing people wont know if you're paying genuine.

Nice to see timbuk2 here, I use their messenger bag for normal day usage, easily fit my compartment case to turn into camera bag without looking like one.

is the 45mm f1.8 good?
not a fan of the focal length though although i think it will be great for portraits.
*
Just about the only 2 lens I would recommend, 45mm f1.8 and 75mm f1.8 both super sharp, but 45mm f1.8 sharp while good pricing.

While the FF is getting smaller in the form of FF mirrorless, including their lenses, the mirrorless is journeying into the FF territory Lol rclxub.gif
*
Let's see how Olympus fight back, their strength are lens ( they are optic pro themselves ) but weakness are sensor ( depend on other )

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Sep 6 2018, 10:23 PM)
IMO still way lighter than actual FF lens
*
Personally I really want Olympus to refresh their PREMIUM lineup, 17/25/45/75mm f1.8 should have mark II biggrin.gif
While 45mm and 75mm are sharp and good, I really want 17mm f1.8 refresh, owned one before, love the focal length but that particular lens just not good enough.

problem with olympus is some of their lens is already so sharp its really hard to improve them anymore.
the only way they can improve it is by making the lens bigger  shakehead.gif
*
Ya 45mm and 75mm just so sharp.
I love 35mm equi focal length but 17mm f1.8 just not good enough sad.gif

QUOTE(COOLPINK @ Sep 7 2018, 04:28 PM)
no thank you, ill stick with smaller systems thanks you very much.

I honestly think EM1 II with 12-40 are almost-cant-called-small size already laugh.gif
