How long you use these tyres?
Hows the grip in rain??

You mean the V701? Nope, haven't got the chance to try it actually, coz I have found another better choice which is the Hankook V12 Evo 2. However my assessment above is based on common assumption of tire development in general whereby normally tire technology progress a lot with subsequent new models, hence the older ones very often already several steps behind. I have experienced this with Continental CSC series whereby I had tried the old CSC3 and the replacement CSC5 and the CSC3 was noticeably lacking behind CSC5. So T1R is in this case now. It was never that good to begin with even when it came out new many years ago (it's so long already I even have forgotten how many years this model already in the market), while other tires are already getting more development to come out with newer better performance. So if I were to pick between the V701 which is much newer than T1R, then I believe V701 would be better. But again rather than going with V701 I'd rather pick the V12E2 which has been much more proven (and indeed after using it, I'm very happy with its performance), yet cheaper then V701.

so you are comparing merely because new vs old instead of personal experience ???

hmm.gif

if i can recall correctly previous for the donut of Yokohama A drive vs Yokohama AE01 Bluearth ( newer model )

my vote still go for A drive, i have both donuts in my ride.

the so call newer model / replacement model for A drive, does not mean better, in term of grip and durability also.

now surveying around to upgrade my current T1R, but im afraid the newer tyre cant perform better than current 1, so would appreciate user experience.

hows your V12E2 in wet grip and cornering ?

Well there might be rare cases of old tires being better but generally not, especially considering T1R was already too darn old and was not that good to begin with. Having said that though, the Fleva V701 has also been receiving very mixed reviews but if I were forced to choose one of them, I'd say pick the newer tire.

V12E2 is very good, overall performance is pretty much on similar level as PS3 or Goodyear F1 series. I'm very happy with them, the best bang for the buck IMHO. It's the cheapest yet well proven UHP among the rest. It's surely better than T1R coz T1R was not so good to begin with, having mediocre test results in most comparison tests when it came out. Now this V12E2 managed to beat the newest Goodyear F1A3 in the latest test in US! Price is also much cheaper than the Japan made T1R, even cheaper than the Fleva V701, so I'm pretty confident this V12E2 is your best bet.

I found one seller in Lazada selling V12E2 215/50/R17 at RM373 (excluding valves & alignment/RM32), is this price competitive?
Or can anyone recommend other shops in Klang Valley area?

It seems a bit high, should be below rm350/pc.

Check this seller, they have been selling Hankook with some of the best prices and one forummer here leehernandez already had good experience buying from them: https://www.mudah.my/kok-sport-rim-mudah

There's also this one that seems to give good pricing for Hankook: https://www.mudah.my/ah-wee--s-one-tyre--sp...rim-setia-alam-

You can try Tyres Pro Malaysia Kota Damansara. Price more-less the same. They quoted me all in price including valve and alignment. Good service. Changed mine early this year. But buying through Lazada can use discount voucher + cashback biggrin.gif

Initially I was planning to change to V701 but since the year made was 2016 I chose V12 instead (year made 2017). No regrets though icon_rolleyes.gif

GT Radial is a decent/pretty reliable tire but the V12 is surely better.

Can get cheaper, find OS Autocare in fb. Bought mine 225/50/17 v12e2 for rm 360 each without gst. 215/50/17 should be cheaper from that shop.

Of course got other UHP tires that can perform better like PS4, CSC5, P Zero PZ4 but they will be much more expensive. At the same price level or cheaper, I haven't found anything else that can match the V12E2 though. Cheaper ones than this will have significant drop in performance already.

Yes OS Autocare seems to also have very competitive pricing across many tire brands.

The advan fleva V701 was actually the official tyre selected to be used in 2016 sepang 1000km endurance race. I guess being selected to be in an endurance, the tyre would have been tested and fared pretty well as it concerns safety and performance at the same time. From feedback of drivers in endurance race, many of them were quite satisfied with the performance. Good grip in dry and wet in the track and off course, these tyres are driven to its limits during the race I'm sure. And the V701 are not even categorised in the extreme performance group but yet able to command such performance is pretty impressive I would say. I think for its price, good value for money. Got friends using them and spoke highly about them when comparing them to other more premium performance oriented tyres

Bought 2 end of last year. Now I need to replace the 2 other tires. However there is no stock at all for Advan Fleva.

Which tire should I go for that will complement or is the nearest spec with around the same price?

For this size, I'd say the Goodyear F1D5, probably price a bit higher but performance should also be a bit better. Both tires are also directional design.
