Aaron Slight? I'd say Haga was most successful rider not to win a championship. Don't forget Fogarty. I remember one season the top runners had number 1,11 & 111 fighting closely together regularly. I think Aaron Slight was no 111.

FB63 really losing ground, that's a costly mistake. Luca Marini seems to get better with the GP22.

Throughout the years I found Yamaha riders very very seldom falls, meanwhile Ducati and Honda riders very frequently falls. So FQ can smooth ride to the remaining races.
*
The M1 is regarded as the most rider friendly bike on the grid. It had speed, and stability. The last few years the others caught up on speed and stability while they have only made slight improvements.

BTW, can't predict what's gonna happen tomorrow as weather will be a major factor. Miller gets another similar penalty for impeding MV.

Great race in all 3 categories. FB was unlucky last race, now he is the lucky one as he has the chance to catch up. Never seen FQ crash twice in one race, great ride by Bezzechi and AE and Top Gun.

But realistically FB is already too far back and will need more blunders from FQ to be within striking distance. I think only AE now still has realistic chance for title fight.

Btw FQ is penalised in the next race to take long lap penalty so another chance for the rest to make up points against him.
*
Yeah, I expect AE to take the fight to the end. FB is too far back but mathematically still a chance. Last season he was very strong on the 2nd part of the season. Traditionally Yamaha goes backwards in the second half. Big advantage to Aprilia though as they still have their concessions and therefore still can develop the bike further.

This article explains a lot of things on why some riders have faded in performance.

I believe Fabio + Toprak on Monster Yamaha bike = Monster Team
Both seems to gel well with Yamaha's lack of Top Speed with superb braking control, superb cornering.
*
I'd disagree, even though both on Yamaha's but totally different bike characteristics. As explained by Dovi, you can't brake as hard on the MotoGP bike, it's strength lies in the corner speed. Toprak loves stoppees.

Yeah the bikes now are more on corner speeds so the hard brakers are having tougher times, probably that's why Dovi and also VR cannot be as fast anymore.
*
It's so fast in corners that they touch the ground with their elbows instead of knees, especially the new generation of riders.

Such a shame, I am hoping he gets another chance with another manufacturer. He is a fast rider but somehow can't gel with the current version M1. Hoping at least for him to switch over to WSBK for a swansong.

First clean sweep of the season by Toprak! Yamaha rider suddenly back to championship hunt

SpoTV no show live, had to stream. Ironically he got his first triple win when he is not as dominant as last year. Almost got it last year but I think he had to drop one place because he was on the green.

Meanwhile Rins has joined LCR Honda for next season

You beat me to it lol. If TN stays with LCR, I wonder how the relationship will go, Rins has been very critical of TN's riding lately.

Hafizh Syahrin was pretty quick in FP1 yesterday, he placed 11th. Was around the same place in FP2 but that lap was cancelled then he crashed. Hope he carries the momentum in the races.

I think first time in awhile I see FQ struggling to match the other riders, he seemed fast before the LLP. Amazing ride for Aleix to stick behind FQ after his crash in FP.

He was a lucky champion, more so than Hayden cuz only won due to FQ messed up.

Meanwhile just realized that Austria track already modified for Motogp with additional chicane in between turn 1 and 2 to reduce risk of dangerous crash approaching the hairpin uphill turn 3.
*
I agree with you totally. For this track I remember Rossi missed being crashed into by inches. That was scary to watch.
