I think MM had past his peak already due to too many accidents and injuries, he ain't iron man.

But to me FQ is not quite at the level of MM yet especially in the wet. FQ became champ when MM already injured too. But yeah I am affraid you are right that MM might not get back to his best form anymore due to his injuries.
*
I think we will see the championship won by different riders the next few years. It's very competitive and no one really dominates the majority of the races, some bikes/riders strong in certain tracks only. 2020/2021 we already see 2 new champions. This year could be the Ducati but I can't predict who yet, could be Peco, Bastianini or someone else. Heck, even KTM spring a surprise and win the championship.

GOATs of yesteryear like Doohan & Rossi had set the bar too high that only next-gen talents like Marc (and to some extent Lorenzo & Stoner) can match their level. I can't really make a full judgement on current crops of talent because most of them haven't reach their peak yet. Even Quartararo isn't at that level yet.
*
I am not a fan of MM but I agree he is the only one who can match Rossi in terms of talent. Lorenzo is very good but not great, Stoner for me was just lucky to be at the right team on the right bike at the right time. I can't recall a single good track battle for him.

Eh, Lorenzo is more impressive by beating the peak Rossi a few championship during late 2000s to early 2010s ler.

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Mar 28 2022, 08:32 PM)
JL beat VR from 2010 onwards. Judging by how JL, CS, DP and many other MotoGP riders already downhill or even retire by age 30 or more, VR by 2010 at age 30-31 might not be at his peak anymore too. I read somewhere that VR himself said after 2005 he was already contemplating retirement (remember his trial with Ferrari F1 team too) even before JL came. As I said also JL has a slight weakness in the wet compared to VR or MM so he was not as complete as those 2 IMHO. But yeah you cannot take away his achievements by beating VR in the same team, he was a very fast rider too.
*
I totally agree with you, Lorenzo was the young gun beating Rossi, who most other riders at his age then was retired or over the hill. Also he when he beat Rossi the first time I think Rossi had his leg injury and missed a few races. When Rossi returned to Yamaha, they weren't separated by that may points either, so it was close racing between the two and JL finished on top. But like I said, he was very good but not great.

Aprilia finally on pole with AE!

Marini also on front row. I thought Bezzechi would be surprise rider after FP1. Ducatis seem to struggle here tho. Hope Marini can maintain his pace and form.

Note that SPOTV 2 on Astro is only for Golf, and won't be showing WSBK

I saw Spotv got WSBK but not live broadcast, so it's delayed recordings.

1st race was live on UnifiTV Spotv2. great battle till the end for Bautista and Rea, Toprak was in the mix for about 3/4 of the race but couldn't fight till the end. Ended 5 secs of in 3rd.

HS55 finished 21st(out of 23) in his debut but I think not bad as just 2 secs off his more experienced teammate.

Just watched Race 2 of SBK in ASSP5. AB won and leads the points slightly ahead of JR, then TR a bit behind in 3rd.

Bring on MotoGP!
*
AB19 ran away in the lead in Superpole and 2nd race. Race 1 much better. HS35 finished ahead of his teammate in 20th.

Just realized MotoGP schedule is Moto2,MotoGP then Moto3, Congrats to Danilo Petrucci winning the 1st MotoAmerica race in his debut.

I am not much of a fan for this track, maybe because not a lot of great overtaking spots for me. I expected Miller to be a runaway winner alas it was not to be. Decent points for Bagnaia after a terrible start to the season.

Bau Bau still very dominant in this race weekend? How many race wins then they will cut down the ducati rev limit again?

Only 2nd race weekend. Unlike 2019, he's not really running away at the front. He was fighting for it this time.

It was really weird as they all crashed in tandem. Also kesian those who couldn't rejoin but rules are rules. I saw Ogura asking the marshalls to give him a push after the crash but they were busy tending to other riders and bikes.

What happened?

Apparently suddenly there was rain in that sector, all top riders were involved. Vietti was 'lucky' he qualified low and had a bad start. All the riders who made it to the pit couldn't join restart as they returned to the pits more than the 5 minutes time limit. Suddenly we have the 1st American winner in so many dog years. It was very bizarre!

Speculation of Suzuki leaving Motogp at the end of this season! It's shocking!
https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1002047/1...6QVudijsyUnWx30

So far no statement from Suzuki but 'confirmed rumours'. The rides are already very limited. With 2 fast riders, it's so competitive for the rider market. Hopefully there's 2 more competitive bikes on the grid next year(not Ducati please). I am expecting more surprises as the season goes on. If Aleix Espargaro gets a very good result this season(or somehow wins the championship), he may opt to retire. He's mentioned retiring before, what's better than retiring as a champion in your final season. The way things are happening with Marc Marquez at the moment, he may be forced to retire too if he gets another big crash(hope not). Dovi may also be on his way out if his current results continue. Just my speculation. Please quote me later at end of season laugh.gif
