Valentino is finished as champions long time ago. He no longer has the concentration level required.

J.Lo has been pounding him since years ago.

I think most people already realized for some time now that the 10th title is already getting too difficult for him to achieve. He can still be very competitive and steal a few wins here and there with some podiums but beating those young guns consistently is already too tough now. To be honest, he has been some kind of an underdog for several years now compared to JL & MM and now MV but people like to see him wins because of this old underdog position that he is already in now for some time. He did still able to beat JL for a few season before JL departed though, just unfortunately those that were non title ones (he was 2nd a few times and JL were below in the points) while when JL beat him were to win the titles.

Regardless, racing against guys 10-15 years younger is a feat in itself, and always running with the top at that.

With or without the 10th WC title, I think he already make himself a legend showing people not to give up on what you like. Keep pushing yourself forward.

I think after his contract ends he should still win titles but as Team SKY VR46 owner.

Yup agree, his status is already cemented by still being able to compete at such high level so late in his career. Him being able to win car races and rallies is also another incredible feat on its own. He's a true racer to the core.

I feel really sad today especially reading all the messages from other riders and teams. Even Mark Webber posted his condolences.

He is a world champ of the pinnacle of bike racing so a lot of people know him, hence that's why so many condolences.

Plus he is a nice chap around the paddock. Team mates with Rossi at Honda and Ducati but never had any bad blood.
