Online Passport Renewal Malaysia - MyONLINE PASPORT - MyIMMs - e-Services


So I tried using the new MyPassport to renew my passport.

Im making this guide for the people whom might want to use it too and not too sure about it. It took me awhile just to get the clarification that I needed.
I hope this will help LYN people to get the information they need.

You start at a page that tells you the whole thing that you need to do before you can proceed.
It was really tedious to get the picture done, it requires another unstated requirement which is 50kb - 500kb size and MUST be in .JPG

When you are done with that you can just key in the phone number and email address below.

Please select the MOST convenient place to pick up like for me UTC Kuala Lumpur (UTC Pudu) this is important because you cant change it.

So proceed with the payment VISA or Mastercard credit card/debit card.
I tried with Debit card works just fine, make sure you called your bank and tell them you want to do some online transaction and they will activate
that feature. If you done that already, then you can just proceed.

So yeah you will get the receipt when you're done, please PRINT them as you will need it to get you passport.

It will take a day to finish up your application (depends on what they might say in the receipt)

What you need (also stated in receipt)

1. Receipt that you printed
2. MyKad (IC)
3. Previous passport (not damaged)


In the receipt they will mention a time and day to pickup, that is for when the passport is READY for pickup.

You have 3 months to pick up the passport, please be advised that pick up time is ONLY WORKING HOURS on Weekdays (after the stated time and day in receipt).

In other words, 8AM - 5PM Monday - Friday. Im not too sure on Johor and the others that is working on Sunday, maybe you can clear that up for me.


UPDATE


So yesterday I went and pick up my passport, I tried going earlier from the stated time which is around 1.30 PM.
I went to the number counter and they asked me if its online renewal. Afterwards, they gave me a different number and asked me to wait.
Yes, its lunch time so I had to wait an hour before anything gets going on my side.
Around 2.30 PM I saw that many people that applied online their number popping up for either taking a new picture and fingerprint scanning, in my case its just fingerprint scanning.
So it took another hour before I was called for fingerprint scanning, apparently their system is a little crappy but the Imigresen Team worked really hard to get it running its the IT system that sucked hard.
Back to my story, a few minutes after the system is back online and my number was called and I went to the counter and scanned my fingerprint.
In about 5 minutes my passport was ready and I just sign the paper and passport, and I'm done ! Got it around the stated time I guess it was fine

P/S :

For some of you who cant continue with this online passport renewal, I have asked the officer and he said it might be because your IC, fingerprint or blacklisted in some way. You have NO choice but to GO to the Office and clear things out with them.

go to the number counter and pass them the receipt, most likely photo not ok( unless u really pro) and need retake, then within one hour can get

How many days they mentioned for yours?

Do you recommend me to pick up the day of the stated time or after?
I need to ask my boss for half day lol.

Any changes in photo specs? Still white in background?

Just one day. I applied just now around 1.24 PM today (5/9/2016) and they state in the receipt 6/9/2016 and pickup at 3.23 PM - 4.30 PM.

Yeah its a MUST apparently. It's under the checklist they given before you move on to the next step.

Permohonan yang tidak menepati spesifikasi tidak akan diproses terlebih dahulu dan akan menyebabkan kelewatan semasa pengambilan/serahan passport.

can I specific date/time to collect the passport?

After the payment the receipt will be generated. That is when the passport is ready for pick up so yeah thats ur specific time to get.
But you can pick up any day on Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM, remember within 3 months only if not ur money wasted.

How did photograph urself?

I got it from the shop that has the white background and would give me the softcopy. Plus you might want to have the multiple side flash thingy to remove the shadow behind you. Then you can just edit (Photoshop or just Paint lol) your picture according to the requirement.

if ready can direct take, if photo got issue need wait a while, within 30 min...maybe ask for longer lunch

if the final photo u see when u tick is somehow resize to longer vertically or horizontally, then can say 99% retake

I'm having the same problem...

Good for all to report here so that we compile the facts and figures for feedback to immigration, as they are of the view that our passport got issues instead of their system problem

I'll check with them today when im going to pick up my passport.

Yes, please help to check since quite a number of people facing the problem to renew online. Need to know why some people can do it, others don't

Now they change the error message attached , can you check whether you get the new error message? Have been using the passport at KLIA electronic immigration gate without any issues a number of times. Now they say the record has been damaged or disappeared ?

Have you used your passport at KLIA electronic immigration gate before and any problem on finger print verification?

guess have to go to their branch for renewal.

Went to kedah UTC. 3.30pm go in, 5pm left with passport

What they mentioned has no basis, have been using IC for banking without problem. Also checked on the passport blacklist, no issue. Also have used passport at KLIA electronic immigration gate, no issue.

Something definitely not right with their system

Most likely you need to check with them. Maybe theres a glitch.
They also mentioned that the system is not that stable at the moment.

The standard response is your passport got issue, so need to go to immigration counter.

In fact my existing passport was previously renewed 5 years ago, there was no issue.

Suspect they restrict the number of online application to avoid the system swamped and unable to cope with the number of applications

Can i renew just for changing my picture? I don't like my pic since the officer force me to take picture on the spot LoL. Usually they will accept the pic i bring but that day they told me must take on the spot.

You are willing to pay Rm200 just for the change of pic? Now they only accept photo taken on the spot, what if you don't like the new photo taken?

Just to let you know I dont represent the Imigresen office. Im just another average Joe who needs to renew his passport and happens to have no issue on the Online Passport website. I think you should give them a call, 03 - 2026 2090 - UTC Pudu my suggestion call her around 10.00 AM or 3.00 PM.

I had a very old pasport in 1998 which I could not find again and never done any renewal(single use only). In my case is it renewal or im suppose to do as new application.

Just asking here as I am planning to queue early tomorrow and all lines are closed for Raya. Thanks!

Update : brought my >10y old expired passport and application went smoothly. Immigration returned my old passport with a triangle portion cut out of the front cover.

Before that I tried online renewal - error came out fingerprint unable to retrieve or missing and need to come to immigration office

Yeah they will cut that triangle, if im not mistaken for the passport swipe thing. To make it useless lol.
So this is an interesting note any passport regardless of age is still acceptable provided its still in a good condition 8/10? haha.

Most of the time Online Renewal error is that the finger print issue is there. Its the immigration system failure.

Yeah, i had to search for my old passport in some boxes. Cause I dont want to come to immigration and they still have my old passport in the system and need to return home to get it.

Today I went to the immigration in KDN..

630AM and done by 10:30AM

They are distributing 500 numbers per day

WTF Man, no issue on my current passport as i just got back from Korea and been using the e-gate passport in KLIA 2, how the fuck my fingerprint is not in their system, cocky betul.

Nope, they take your pic there. White background so wear something dark. If not, you are forced to wear a coat/jacket that has been shared thousands of times. Not sure if they wash it but the guy behind me said it smelled... go figure

did my online renewal at kuantan. within 2 hours can collect already. thumbs up to them this time.

Please go to the Immigration Office. No choice, but you can just do it there without any problem.

For those who wasn't able to apply online and are feeling adventurous, try UTC Melaka..longer drive but whole process at the Immigration Dept. took me less than an hour. Reached there at 11am and received my passport at 11.45am. Maybe suitable for those who don't like to wait in long queues and you can visit the historical town as well afterwards.

Got the "cap jari rosak" alert as well. Funny thing is, I just came home from overseas last night with no problems and this passport was done using the online renewal 5 years ago.

You still have to go and pick up the passport and at that time they will ask you to take a new picture there.
Then they will process your passport.

If you have done Online theres only a few places you can go to Pudu or Putrajaya, which did you select during the application?

But if you are going there without doing it online, you may just go there on Friday morning it should be fine and yes before lunch u can get it.

Pudu's traffic is ridiculous so I might use the conventional method by going to the immigration department on Friday morning instead.

True, I went there around noon and finished around 4 due to some technical issue.
So I went back before the rush hour, I guess it was ok in my case.

I guess the online thing removed the stupid quota thing. Which is why the whole process is smoother like it used to be.

Yeah, that's why I prefer going to the Sri Rampai branch to do it because it's closer to home.

So useless. Tried applying online and got the same "Cap Jari" issue when I have no issue going through the e-gates. Nothing else better to blame on.

Tried online. didn't work, fingerprint error or something.

Figured it would be a waste of time with the waiting period and all, so I went to UTC keramat.
2pm arrived, still lunch break. waited till 2.15. take number, and waited like a minute or so.

did finger print scanning, gave IC and old passport. then was asked to go make payment. waited 10 minutes. paid 200, and went down and eat for 40 mins.

naik balik, and collection number went pass me by 10 numbers.

beats online system anytime.

Have you been to renew your passport around before September this year?
They only give out 100 passport perday, UTC Keramat only give out 50 on a weekday.
At that time Online came on 2nd September it drastically increased the passport limit when it was introduced.

I would say online kinda saved your time on this, besides doing online is so simple for those who has no problem in doing it that is.
You already completed everything and you have to do is just go there and collect you passport, less than 10 mins as it should be.

But due to some complication it might take awhile, but still it would be less than 0.30 - 1 hour.

u still have to go through the whole process again if the photo u upload does not match their criteria when u walk in to collect..

Is it me or this thing rendering useless?
I wanted to renew my passport which is created at Sabah, but apparently it couldn't look up for my details.

What is your photo size and dimension? mine is 396x532, 19kb... but seem have problem on uploading the photo... it just appeared one more yellow box, and nothing happen, even i tried upload few times..

It might be the size its too small (the 19kb) i think 25kb should be the minimum.
Been so long already I forgot.

I can upload the picture now, before this was system problem. Now the size has changed to min 200kb-400kb ( if I'm remember correctly)

I see, its kinda difficult to adjust the size to fit the range.
Its stupid in my opinion.
